Term 2 Week 8 19 June 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have only two weeks left of Term 2 to go. It

has been another weird and wonderful term, with

plenty happening. Our students are adapting to

the changes that they have undertaken and the

majority of ‘school’ experiences are returning to

some sort of normality.

This has also given us an opportunity to look at

different ways we do things. Some things will

change and some things will go back to how they

were. This week we presented our first ‘online’

assembly. The students enjoyed seeing each

other on the video links and we were able to hand

out awards and certificates virtually. It was great

to see our students connecting in a different way.

Reports will be sent home on the last day of term,

Friday 3rd July. A reminder that these will be

shortened for this semester to one page, and will

be a reflection of what your child has

experienced at school. If you would like to

discuss your child’s progress further please do

not hesitate to contact their teacher.

Positive Behaviour for Learning

Charlotte J, Jada B and Mr Somerville led our first virtual PBL lesson on Monday, 15th June on

Microsoft Teams. The leadership team communicated expectations, our weekly lesson and

information regarding our rewards day.

This week in PBL, our focus has been kindness.

Kindness is a choice we make: how we act, what we say, and how we say it. Every day we

decide how we are going to interact with others.

When people say unkind words, pause and THINK. Is what they said: T-True? H-Helpful? I-

Inspiring? N-necessary? K-Kind?

Term 2 Major Rewards Day

Our Term 2 Major Rewards Day will be held on Thursday, 2nd July. All students are invited to

come out of uniform wearing appropriate pyjamas to enjoy a movie day. Our celebration

session will run from 11:30am – 1:30pm.

Everyone, everywhere, everytime!

3/4T enjoyed the sunshine and

took some mats and seating so

they could do their literacy

session outside to do some

reading. All students and Mrs

Tarrant were engaged and

enjoyed their learning in the

environment.

5/6M have been

busy peer critiquing

their narrative on the

chosen community

members for their

History project.This

is a very powerful

way to improve

student work.

Some very keen and talented

artists in 1M have been

experimenting with wax

resistance paintings using

water colours during Visual

Arts lessons.

Our Aboriginal students are

having the opportunity to

engage in cultural activities at

lunchtime each Tuesday and

Thursday. Working with Caitlan

and Mrs Kerr students have

been discussing what they

want to see and do in their

school. Yesterday they started

decorating some of the

clapsticks, ready to be used

with other activities. They are

also keen to see more artwork

around the school, try their

hand at weaving and look into

creating dance and musical

groups in the coming weeks.

Our students were surprised to find a boat had

washed ashore at Elermore Vale over the

weekend. 2B had a great time exploring the new

addition to the playground first thing on Monday

morning.

and creations occurring in and out of the

classroom.
