It was wonderful to see so many people in our school and able to spend time playing in the playground and in the classroom. We definitely have had a busy week with many events this week. Our Stage 2 students enjoyed a 3 day camp at Great Aussie Bush Camp, pushing themselves out of their comfort zones with new activities. Kindergarten and Year 1 enjoyed their excursion to watch Possum Magic in Newcastle. Recently we have also had 4 lucky students in Stage 3 attend a STEM camp with Mr Player. Once again, we have been impressed by the behaviour and respect displayed by our students while representing our school. Next week you are invited to join us for our Book Week parade. The parade will start at midday, with students encouraged to dress as a book character or with the theme of ‘Reading is my superpower’. Feel free to join in the fun! Remember the P&C comedy night is this Saturday – tickets are still available for what sounds like a good night. Hope to see you there! Term 3 Week 6 30 August 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a great start to our day we had this morning with

our annual DUGS day. It was wonderful to see so

many people in our school and able to spend time

playing in the playground and in the classroom.

We definitely have had a busy week with many

events this week. Our Stage 2 students enjoyed a 3

day camp at Great Aussie Bush Camp, pushing

activities. Kindergarten and Year 1 enjoyed their

Library Lessons In recent library lessons, students have completed some simple art based on one of the books that have

been short-listed for the Children’s Book Council Award (CBCA). Over 480 books were submitted for this

prestigious award.

Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed

listening to Rainbow Bear by

Stephen Michael King. They then

chose and decorated their own

rainbow bear. Two students work

from each class was selected for

display in the library.

Year 5 and 6 students completed a presentation on a famous Australian. One of the requirements was an

interesting statistic about the person presented using a variety of PowerPoint tools. Here is a snapshot of

Library Matters

EVPS Book Parade is Wednesday September 4 at 12:00pm.

EVPS 2019 Book Fair is from Monday 2

September to Thursday 5 September.

Students will come into the library with

their class or library teacher to look at the

books. They will be encouraged to fill in a

‘wish list’ for potential purchases.

Parents and guardians are invited to the

library on Tuesday, Wednesday and

Thursday from 8.30am to 9am and from

3pm to 4pm. Purchases can be made by

cash or EFTPOS. Additionally, students will

be able to purchase books at lunch time

(cash only).

Brochures have been sent home with

students. Spare copies are available at

the library

The theme for 2019 book parade is

‘Reading is my Secret Power’.

Parents and guardians will have the

opportunity to take photos of their own

child posing in front of a cape and other

decorative pieces. This will be on the wall

on the side of the music room at the

beginning of book week.

Parents and guardians are invited to the

school at 12:00pm to watch the book

parade.

Comedy Night

Our Comedy Night is on tomorrow night, Saturday, 31st August 2019!

Doors open at 7:00pm! Show starts at 8:00pm!
