Game NotesLast Time Out: The Soaring Eagles are coming off of a 3-3 double overtime tie against Hilbert College. Elmira fell be-hind 3-0 in the first half but three goals from rookie Donte Donegal ’18 guided the Purple and Gold to the tie.

Hats Off to Donte: Donte Donegal ’18 played the hero in Elmira’s 3-3 double overtime tie against Hilbert College as he scored three goals. Donegal’s hat-trick is the first three-goal game by an EC player since the 2012 season. Ad-ditionally, Donegal’s three goals also marks the first time since the 2012 season a rookie has registered a hat-trick.

Series History: Elmira and RIT have faced each other 10 times since the 2002 season. The Tigers own a 7-2-1 edge in those 10 games and have won the most recent meeting which occurred last season. However, both of Elmira’s wins in the last 10 years took place on EC’s Campus Field, including a 1-0 win in 2010, a game in which Coach Moore stood on the sidelines for the Soaring Eagles as an assistant coach.

Looking Ahead: Following today’s game, the Soaring Ea-gles will make the two hour trip to Pittsford, NY where the Elmira men will open Empire 8 Conference play against St. John Fisher College on Saturday, September 20th at 2:00 p.m. EC will return home on Tuesday, September 23rd for a home game against Lycoming College at 4:00 p.m.

Game NotesA Look at the Tigers: The Tigers of RIT enter today’s con-test with a 0-4-1 overall record. After opening the season with a 2-2 double overtime tie against Centenary College, the Tigers have dropped four consecutive games, including their most result contest against SUNY Cortland, 1-0 in double overtime.

By the Slimmest of Margins: Aside from RIT’s 2-2 double overtime tie against Centenary, the Tigers have had four games decided by one goal or less. Three of those four one-goal losses also came in overtime.

Is Reeves the Answer?: Rookie netminder Bailey Reid ’18 started in RIT’s first two contests but it appears that junior keeper Mark Reeves ’16 has earned the starting gig for the Tigers. Reeves has started in RIT’s last three contest, total-ing 14 saves while allowing just three goals.

Not Since 2006: RIT’s record is missing something, a win. This is something the Tigers have not been accustomed to over the years. The last time RIT went this far into Septem-ber without a win dates back to the 2006 season when the Tigers lost their first five contests before, strangely enough, winning their first game of the year on September 16, 2006 against Clarkson University.
