Game NotesLast Time Out: In their Empire 8 Conference opener, the Soaring Eagles suffered a 3-0 defeat to host St. John Fisher College. Elmira has now gone 4-1 in their last five Empire 8 Conference opening games.

Conference Leader: Jordan Dougherty ’16 has started in Elmira’s last three contests, recording 24 saves in those three matches. He is averaging 8.0 saves per contest so far, a mark that leads the Empire 8 Conference. As a team, Elmira also boasts an 8.0 saves per game average, which is the 22nd highest average in all of NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer.

Series History: There is not much recent history between the Elmira College and Lycoming College men’s soccer programs. Today’s game marks the first meeting between the programs since the 1999 season. In the 1999 meeting, Lycoming edged Elmira 3-2. However, prior to the 1999 season, the Soaring Eagles and Warriors faced each other 13 times dating all the way back to 1982 with Elmira hold-ing the advantage in the series, 9-3-1.

Looking Ahead: Following today’s game, the Soaring Ea-gles will host Utica College for an Empire 8 Conference showdown on Saturday, September 27th. Kick-off is sched-uled for 3:00 p.m. at Elmira College’s Campus Field.

Game NotesA Look at the Warriors: The Warriors of Lycoming Col-lege enter today’s contest with a 6-0-2 record after recording a 1-1 double overtime tie against host Geneva College. Ly-coming has played in five away games this year, going 3-0-2 in those contests.

Stifling Defense: A large part of Lycoming’s success this season has been their superb defense. The Warriors have outscored their opponents 12-1, but more impressively, Ly-coming did not surrender a goal through their first seven games.

Rookie Sensation: Rookie midfielder Abdullahi Abdi ’18 may not be the biggest guy on the field, but his play has been enormous for the Warriors. He leads the Lycoming with eight points on three goals and two assists. Of his three goals, one came as the game-winner in a 2-0 defeat of Pennsylvania College of Technology while his two assists came on the game-winning goals against Ursinus and West-minster.
