Game NotesLast Time Out: The Soaring Eagles continued their win-ning last weekend with a series sweep of ECAC West Con-ference opponent, Buffalo State. Elmira edged the Bengals in the first game, 2-1, but in game two, Cassidy Delainey ’15 would tally her first career hat-trick to pace the Purple and Gold to a 5-0 shutout victory.

300th Win on the Horizon: The Elmira College women’s ice hockey program is sitting on 299 wins following their 5-0 win over Buffalo State. Regardless of when Elmira reaches win number 300, the Soaring Eagles will join the likes of Middlebury (557), Bowdoin (395), Gustavus (383), and Plattsburgh (317).

Go Cass Go: Cassidy Delainey ’15 scored three goals against Buffalo State in EC’s 5-0 win, two of which came on the power play. Entering Friday’s game, Delainey boasts a national-leading 13 power-play goals. More impressive is that her 13 power-play scores are the most by any skater in any division of NCAA ice hockey, men or women. The next closest power-play scorer is NCAA Division I’s Jonny Brodzinski from St. Cloud State, who has 10.

Looking Ahead: Elmira will be back in action tomorrow when the Soaring Eagles make the short trip to Geneva, NY to complete the season series with William Smith College. Game-time is set for 8:00 p.m.

Game NotesWilliam Smith This Season: The Herons enter Friday’s game with a 2-18-1 overall record and a 1-12-1 mark inside the ECAC West Conference. William Smith has struggled as of late, dropping their last 12 games, four of which have come against nationally ranked opponents. In their first year as a collegiate program, Willaim Smith has earned a pair of victories against ECAC West opponent Neumann University and New England College.

Top 10 Frosh: Krista Federow ’18 has carried the load of-fensively for William Smith this season. The Niagara Falls native leads the Herons in goals and points at 11 and 18, respectively, and also shares the team-lead in assists with seven. Additionally, her 0.86 points per game average is tied for the ninth-highest average in country in freshman scor-ing.

Limiting Penalties: William Smith has taken their fair share of penalties in their inaugural season, 225 total penal-ty minutes for a per game average of 10.7, the eighth-highest average in the nation. The Herons’ excessive penalty minu-ets have forced their penalty kill unit to go on the ice 100 times. In those 100 penalty kill chances, William Smith has killed-off 74 of them.
