Game NotesLast Time Out: EC enters today’s home finale with a 5-5-2 record after taking down Alfred State College, 3-0, on Thurs-day. Mackenzie Donohue ’15 put Elmira ahead in the 11th minute, resulting in a 1-0 halftime lead. Shortly following the break, the Purple and Gold would add their second goal as Alexa Barber ’15 and Abby Saturni ’18 linked up for Bar-ber’s second goal of the season. Saturni then got in on the scoring action, netting EC’s final goal of the game in the 84th minute to seal the 3-0 win.

Shutout Number Three: Amanda Banner ’17 made seven saves against the Pioneers on Thursday en route to her third shutout of the season. Banner currently sits just outside the top-10 in EC history for single-season shutouts, one shutout shy of moving into a tie for ninth all-time.

Home Finale: The Soaring Eagles have historically had suc-cess in their final regular season home game, posting an 8-5-1 record in home finales since the 2000 season. Additionally, EC has won four of their last five home finales, most recently defeating SUNY Geneseo, 3-2, in 2013.

Looking Ahead: Elmira heads out on the road for their final three regular season games, all against Empire 8 opponents. The first game pits the Soaring Eagles against the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College on Tuesday, October 21st in Roch-ester, NY. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

Game NotesLast Time Out: The Highlanders of Houghton College come into this afternoon’s contest with a 6-6 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the Empire 8 after shutting-out confer-ence foe, Utica College, 1-0 on October 13th. Stephany El-lison ’15 netted her 13th goal, and third game-winning goal, of the season in the 70th minute, while Shawna Sprout ’16 made four saves to record her third shutout.

Atop the Empire 8: Stephany Ellison ’15 has continued her assault on the Empire 8 Conference as the senior is leading the conference in points, points per game, goals scored, and goals per game for the second consecutive season. Ellison, after notching 39 points on 16 goals and seven assists in 2013, has tallied 28 points on 13 goals and two assists in 11 games played this season.

Series History: Elmira and Houghton have a short history between one another, meeting just three times since the 2000 season. In fact, all three matchups have come in the last four years, with the Highlanders coming out on top in each contest. The only game of the series to be held at Cam-pus Field came in the 2012 season, when Houghton edged EC by a 3-2 score.
