On behalf of the staff I would like to thank you for coming along. Last week our students had a variety of fun events. The Top Town events were full of colour and fun. A special cheer to our Intermediate Hub students for organising the fun events. The Hellers sausage sizzle was well received aſter the morning acvies. I would like to thank our core group of parents who have connued to organise our sausage sizzles; Annemarie, Natalie and Darryl. The junior classes had a fun day exploring Williams Park in Eastbourne, with families joining them through the day. I would like to acknowledge the junior teachers; Jo Louden, Jane Carter, Caro de Beer and Julia Greaney for organising the fun filled day. The middle school classes Years 4-6 had a week of experiences from exploring Petone Beach to walking up the fire break. The week provided our students with challenges and new experiences. I would like to thank Ma Burt, Sarah Thomas and Clinton Johnson for organising the acon packed week! I would especially like to express our appreciaon to all our parents/caregivers who kindly came to the EOTC oungs. It is through your support that makes it possible for us to explore new places! WELCOME BACK This week we welcome back Whaea Tia who will be working with our students and teachers on Thursdays to further develop our Te Reo and kanga Maori knowledge and skills. We also welcome back Val Dooley and Lucy Ryan who kindly offer their musical talents in supporng our students in the field of music. Thank you to those who have already completed the Civil Emergency Forms, this information is extremely important, if you haven't done this yet, please make it a priority. If you are not receiving the ‘Signmee’ communications by email, please contact Bronwyn in the office. Next week we will be sending out the Internet Safety Agreements between parent/child and school - please keep an eye-out for these communications. You can also order Uniform online through ‘Signmee’.

2016 Student Council We congratulate:

‘24 Hours for the Lord’ Pope Francis has called for the Church worldwide to celebrate “24 hours for the Lord’. The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart will be open from 5.30pm on Friday 4th March for 24 hours . All parishioners from the Archdiocese of Wellington are invited to come along to spend time in prayer.

Poi Making - Can you Help? A group of senior students will be making a set of school poi, next Thursday between 12 and 2.45pm. If you are able to lend a hand in the process of poi making please come along and join us. We also require magazines to make rakau for our classroom programmes. Cultural sharing

Are you able to come in for a session or two on a Thursday to teach our students a cultural song/dance from your culture? We would like our Cultural Group to have a range of cultural repertoire and seek families to assist us in this area. If you are able to assist in anyway, could you please contact Julia Greaney in Room 11 or leave a message at the office. Many thanks.

The Year of Mercy We have received our banner for the Year of Mercy. It will be displayed at

the entrance of the school to remind us to ‘Throw open the door to be Merciful like the Father’.

Māori Mass 2016 - Petone: 24th July at 9am and 23rd October at 9.30am. Lower Hutt Scripture Group for Māori - A prayer group begins on Thursday nights in the Lower Hutt region. Term 2/3 Water Polo Registrations are now open

Entries are now open for the 2016 Intermediate Schools Water Polo Leagues for Year 5 and 6 and Year 7 and 8 students to be held at the Naenae Swimming Pool. The competition will run on Wednesday’s starting on 25th May through to 6th July inclusive. Games will recommence on 27th July and continue through to finals night on 24th August. The draw and results will be published on www.huttwaterpolo.org.nz

Game times will vary, but will be scheduled to start between 3.45pm to 7.30pm. All games are 10 minute halves with a two-minute change of ends at half time.

Intermediate Water Polo is played with a maximum number of 13 players per team. Six players (goalie & five field players) can be in the water with up to seven substitutes sitting poolside behind the two-meter red cone.

Please return by Friday 24th March (week 8, Term 1) by returning the slip below to either the Office or to Mr Burt in Room 3 or by email to [email protected]. This is the last day for registrations.

Players must pay a weekly admission fee of $2 cash at reception before entering the Pool Complex. Please note the cost per player per team for the season fees will be $25 which must be paid before the competition begins. Payment is by cash or internet banking, account number: 12 3142 028 056600

Registrations for the Term 2 leagues for Tiniball and Miniball are now open!

Tiniball – begins week 2, term 2, Monday 9th May at Walter Nash Stadium, games start from 4pm changing weekly and concludes on Monday 20th June. This grade is for combined Year 1/2 teams and Year 3/4 teams.

Miniball – begins week 2, term 2, Thursday 12th May at Walter Nash Stadium and concludes on Thursday 23rd June. This grade is for separate Year 5 and 6 teams.

Please return by Friday 8th April (week 10, Term 1) by returning the slip below to either the Office or to Mr Burt in Room 3 or by email to [email protected].
