INSTALLATION METHODNever glue EMBOSSED WOOD - GEOMETRIX™ COLLECTION MDF panels to drywall or sheetrock The preferred method of installation is with Z-clips or Hanger cleats.

Blind fastening methods are the preferred means of installation due to the fact that it allows for prefinished panels to be delivered and installed without damage to the face.

Z-clips generally allow for closer spacing to the wall, approximately 3/16” between the wall surface and the back of a panel. Hanger cleats will generally require a minimum of ½ between the wall surface and the panel

A minimum of 4 attachments points is required over a 96” height.

Clearance must be considered between the top of the panel and the ceiling to allow the panel to be lifted and dropped onto the cleat or Z- clip

Never use an adhesive to fix the two parts of the cleat together. MDF is a wood product and will expand and contract due to changes in temperature and humidity. Taking this into account the panels should be allowed to “float” on the cleats.

Wood and veneered products are warranted for performance within a range of environmental conditions as specified by the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI), and in accordance with approved industry standards for installation.

These are generally considered to be, between 25% and 55% rh @ 70˚ f. This can vary according to geographic region and must be taken into account while engineering the installation.

When applying a Z-clip to the back of a panel the relief of the pattern, position and length of the screws used must be taken into consideration in order not to damage the face of the panel.

Wood cleats should be glued to the panels as the primary means of attachment. Several screws should be used to hold the cleats in place while the glue sets. The same consideration for the panel with regard to, the relief of the pattern, position and length of the screws used, must be taken into consideration in order not to damage the face of the panel.

Wall mounted cleats should be secured into the aluminum or wood studs within the wall structure and not fastened only through the drywall or sheetrock. It is the responsibility of the contractor to engineer the installation for its specific application. The following illustrations demonstrate several types of hanging methods.

FINISHING • Surface should be cleaned prior to finishing with tack cloth or similar material.• Veneered Surfaces: Surface is pre-sanded with 150 grit. Steps: 1. Clear lacquer 2. Sanding 3. 2nd coat clear lacquer or colored lacquer to darken. Do not stain!• Paint Grade (Lacquerable Foil) Surfaces: Steps: 1. A primer should be used before lacquering 2. Sanding 3. Finish coat

MAINTENANCESurface should be kept clean with a barely damp rag. Furniture polishes can be used on the panels if silicone based products are avoided. If a touch up is necessary, a silicone-based polish prevents proper adhesion of stains and lacquers. Small touch up can be performed by any reputable finisher. First sand the affected area, build up with wood putty if necessary, blend a matching stain within the area and apply lacquer with a similar sheen on the repair. The sheen can be adjusted by buffing a bit with double or triple ‘O’ steel wool. If more serious damage is evident it may be necessary to remove a panel and replace either the entire panel or a portion of the panel. Architectural Systems, Inc. maintains detailed records and can supply identical material if necessary.

WARRANTYThe warranty is for 6 months, material only. In the case of defective material, it is the manufacturer’s choice to either fix or replace the material. In the case of replacing material the manufacturer will cover the freight charges. No other charges like labor, etc. are accepted.
