The Bloomington Area Career Center (BACC) End of Year Report for 2016‐17 aims to give you a picture of

BACC, our students, and the accomplishments of those students over this past school year. BACC continues

to offer exceptional educational opportunities for students that include industry recognized certifications,

dual credit, career exploration, and skills training. Students leave BACC equipped with skills, as well as an

improved knowledge of different career opportunities, postsecondary and college opportunities, and better

ready for his or her next steps.

BACC Program Facts Automo ve Technology

All students were trained in general maintenance content, including oil changes, re moun ng, balancing and repair, etc.

One student interned at Kurt’s Autobody.

Civil Engineering and Architecture/Advanced CAD

All first year students completed the Civil Engineering and Architecture course using Project Lead the Way pre‐engineering curriculum.

All 10 Advanced CAD students earned Autodesk Revit and Building Performance Analysis cer fica ons.

One student earned PLTW‐CEA dual credit with the University of Iowa.

Computer Maintenance Technology

All 18 first year students received 7 hours of dual credit with Heartland Community College (HCC).

All 9 second year students received 10 hours of dual credit with HCC.

Students assisted their own home school technology departments in troubleshoo ng and repair of computers.

Construc on Trades

Con nued work with Habitat for Humanity of McLean County.

Six students became OSHA 10 Cer fied.

Cosmetology

46 students earned hours toward the Illinois state mandated hours during the year: Range 83‐709 hours, with an average of 320 hours per student.

14 second year students earned 8,909 hours be‐tween the 2015‐16 and 2016‐17 school year: Range 420‐1236 hours, with an average of 636 hours per student.

Criminal Jus ce and Law Enforcement

46 students earned CPR and AED cer fica on.

Culinary Arts

10 students earned two dual credit hours in CA 106 at Joliet Junior College.

11 students passed the Illinois Department of Public Health Sanita on Cer fica on Exam.

22 students received ServeSafe Food Handler Cer ‐fica on.

Digital Media

10 first year students earned three hours of dual credit with HCC in DMED 101.

3 second year students earned three hours of dual credit with HCC in DMED 120.

9 students earned Adobe Illustrator cer fica on, 8 students earned Adobe Photoshop cer fica on.

10 students are eligible to test for EMT‐Basic exam.

19 students were AED and CPR cer fied.

Fire Science

13 students earned Illinois Central College dual credit in Fire Science 110 for three credit hours.

19 students were AED and CPR cer fied.

13 students are eligible to take the Illinois Department of Public Health EMR First Responder cer fica on exam.

Health Careers and Medical Terminology

* All 43 students earned three hours of dual credit with HCC in Health 110.

Nurse Assistant

77 first year students passed the Illinois Department of Public Health Cer fied Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam on their first a empt (99% pass rate).

85 students are AED, CPR, and HIPAA Cer fied.

Advanced CNA students were at clinical sites four days per week, with sites including in the Emergency Department, Pedi‐atrics, and Surgicenter at OSF St. Joseph’s and Advocate BroMenn Hospitals, John Warner Hospital in Clinton, Hopedale Medical Complex in Hopedale, and several different private prac ces.

Metals (HCC)

15 students earned six hours of dual credit at HCC. First year students earned six hours in TECH 114 and MFTG 115. Second year students earned six hours in WELD 110 and WELD 116.
