Waste Management

For our building, waste would be managed in a different yet efficient way . Our human waste will be managed in a way that it will be available to use again as water. In one of the pillars at the bottom, it will hold a filtration system. The filtration system will be in the shape of a large water tank. The purpose of this filtration system is to filter out all the human waste and such, separate it from the water. Then the water will be treated briefly and only to an extent that it can be re-used in the TOILETS ONLY. Once treated it will be pumped back into the toilets where it can be re-used. This would save us a lot of money and would also help in reducing our water usage.

Water Management

Water management is pretty simple in our case. In the six “stands” or pillars at the bottom we will place water tanks. These water tanks would be able to hold a certain amount of water. There will be panels above, so if a certain amount of water falls, the panels will open and water would be able to be collected by the tanks. The tanks will be operated using a device. This device will be able to control when this tanks water will be emptied or when the panels must be closed again. The water that is collected by this tank, will be used for all sorts of things. Such as the necessary water in the skyscraper for all its inhabitants etc.

Our Energy SourceOur Sky scraper will be powered by the energy of the wind turbine. The Wind turbine is attached to our building. This wind turbine will use wind energy to power our building. This wind turbine will convert the kinetic energy in wind into mechanical energy. This mechanical energy will then be able to be converted into electricity. We can use this electricity to power our building.

How our building worksWell our building will be built on a proper foundation. Our buildings materials will

vary. The building itself will be made in a firm steel frame. This along with the proepr foundation allow to stabalise the building. To allow the skyscraper to protect itself from vertical and horizontal forces, our skyscraper will have what is a called a Shear wall. The shear wall will protect it from the many forces. It will also, to some extent, protect it from the elements.

Our windows will be either double or triple glazed. This will allow to keep the heat in, in winter, and in summer will cool the room. The main energy source for the building is the Wind propellers located to the rear of the building. While it is running energy can be used. When energy isn’t being used, the windmills will keep running, but the energy they produce will be stored. But there will be times when the wind Is not strong enough. In these times, the stored energy can be used. Depending on how much energy is stored, it will be a great help. Also, this energy can alternatively be sold to the power grid for other peoples purposes. Inturn, our building can make us a profit.

As you can see that the skyscraper has not disturbed the environment around it because of the plants.

The glass entrance and windows have been fully recycled from old materials. The building is built also from concrete . The street lights are all connected to the building which are powered by the wind turbines.

Justification We chose to create a skyscraper because we believe that a

skyscraper will be vital by 2050. Not only will skyscrapers will be pillars in the city, but they may also be used a central points for many other uses. We also took an interest in skyscrapers because of the design aspect. There are many ways to design a tall building.

It was interesting researching the many uses and many ways we could incorporate appliances to a skyscraper. All in all, we believe creating a skyscraper was a good choice.
