Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether ornot we are living in the last days before the second comingof Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramaticproof that this is the last times. All of the proofs belowtaken together defy coincidence.

1. EUPHRATES RIVER TO BE DRIED UP: InRevelation 16:12, the Bible predicts that the EuphratesRiver will be dried up to prepare the way for the kings ofthe east to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of thebattle of Armageddon according to verse 16 of the samechapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle atwhich time Jesus Christ will return and fight on the side ofthe nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will estab-lish His kingdom and usher in His 1000-year reign ofpeace.On January 13th, 1990, theIndianapolis Star carried the head-line “Turkey will cut off flowof Euphrates for 1 month.”The article stated that ahuge reservoir had beenbuilt by Turkey. Whilefilling up the reservoir,the flow of theEuphrates would bestopped for one monthand a concrete plug for adiversion channel built.These things have nowbeen done. With this newlybuilt dam, Turkey has the abil-ity to stop the Euphrates River atwill. The conditions for fulfilling this1900 year old prophecy are now in place!

2. CHINA GOES TO WAR: In Revelation 9:15-16, the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 millionsoldiers will launch a war which will kill “the third part ofmen”. Never in the history of the world, until our presentgeneration, has there been a power on earth that could field200 million soldiers. However, the late ruler of China, MaoTsetung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of200 million. We see that this prophecy pertaining to thevery last times could not ever have been fulfilled until now.

3. WORLDWIDE NUMBERING SYSTEM PRE-DICTED: In Revelation chapter 13, the Bible prophesiesthat a world dictator will soon rule over a world govern-ment. He will cause all people on the earth to receive anumber without which they will be unable to buy or sell.

We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in amost astonishing way. Nearly every human being in theworld now has been assigned a number. In America it is oursocial security number. In the last few years we have seenthis number extended to small children. A child without asocial security number cannot be declared as a dependent onan income tax return. We have seen the emergence of elec-tronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many peopleare urging the abolishment of cash. All of these things couldnot possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Onlyafter the invention of the computer could such a worldwidenumbering system be administered.

4. THE EMERGENCE OF A NEW WORLDORDER: Revelation 13:7 and Daniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. We recently have

seen the term “new world order” being usedby the leading political people of our

world. Mikhail Gorbachev hasmade the term famous, and

Pope John Paul II has re-ferred to it repeatedly.

Finally our formerPresident, GeorgeBush, in the ChicagoTribune, September12, 1990, said “Iraq isthe first test for thenew world order.” He

stated emphatically thatthe Iraq War

is Saddam Hussein againstthe world. The United

Nations troops are continually re-ferred to as the multi-national forces.

The decision has been made to establish an in-terdependent community of nations that will rule the worldunder United Nations authority. The Bible says that thiswill lead us into a great world government. We can see thishappening right before our eyes.

COINCIDENCE OR DIVINE PROVIDENCE? TheEuphrates River can be dried up, the necessary 200 millionman army is available, a worldwide numbering system ispossible because of the computer, and now the new worldorder is appearing.

Is it coincidental that all of these major prophecies pertain-ing to the last times are being fulfilled simultaneously?

Hardly!

Welcome to the newmillennium! Doescrossing the “2000”rubicon really meananything? We have

looked forward to the dawning of thismillennium with anticipation and withno small amount of intrepidation. But isanything out of the ordinary really hap-pening here?

It is undeniable that we live in mo-mentous times. The dawn of the age ofthe computer and the Internet guaran-tees that things will never again be quitethe same. World structures are undergo-ing radical transformation. We all knowthat we have, in fact, entered a NewWorld Order—whether that be for the

better or the worse. The emergence ofthe World Community and the increas-ing interdependence of nations holds acertain excitement and limitless poten-tial. The world has shrunk. We are allglobal citizens.

But what does all this mean—if any-thing at all? Where will this lead us?Should our hearts be frozen by fear, orshould we be energized by the incrediblepossibilities that we sense are just ahead?How do we respond to this new age?

It all depends on whether you intendto win or lose. If you see possible loss ofpossessions and even life resulting fromprophetic fulfillments, which are obvi-ously just ahead, then a bunker mentalitywill be your natural response. If your firstresponse to the emerging world govern-ment structures is how to protect yourhome and family, then very tough timesare undoubtedly just ahead.

But if somehow we tap into the wordsof Jesus… “Whosoever will save his lifeshall lose it; but whosoever shall lose hislife for my sake and the gospel’s, the sameshall save it,” suddenly the dynamictimes just ahead become pregnant withlimitless possibilities. We suddenly see

ourselves as that “generation upon whomthe ends of the world have come.” We re-alize that we are actually the people ofwhom the Prophet Daniel spoke, “…butthe people that do know their God shallbe strong, and do exploits. And they thatunderstand among the people shall in-struct many.” (Daniel 11:32-33)

Suddenly the urgent question of whatwe should be doing at this unprece-dented juncture in human historybecomes crystal clear. We should bedoing what our captain and leader JesusChrist commanded us…Go, preach thegospel of the kingdom. Work while it isday, for the night comes when no mancan work.

What is Endtime Magazine?In 1968, Irvin Baxter Jr. discovered the United States and other modern nations in the Bible. He also

found the Berlin Wall in the Bible and that one day it was to be torn down, reuniting Germany, and thatevent would be the catalyst to spark an international movement called the "New World Order." Thesethings have now come to pass.

Irvin Baxter Jr., a Pentecostal minister, began Endtime Ministries in 1986 when he wrote A MessageFor The President, a book explaining the major prophecies of the Bible which he had been teachingsince 1968.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, prophetic fulfillment accelerated rapidly. The decision was made tolaunch Endtime. The purpose of the magazine is to explain the prophecies of the Bible and to showthat they are now being fulfilled in intricate detail.

Articles focus on the soon return of Jesus Christ, the truth of the Bible, and the need for salvation.Endtime does not deal with doctrinal controversies, as valid as they may be. This will be left to otherpublications.

“A man’s heart” was given to the eagleHi. I listen to your broadcast all the time and have your

Bible study. However, one conflict has arisen that I have beenunable to address. Perhaps you could help me with it.

Daniel 7:4 of the King James Version of the Bible says, “Thefirst was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till thewings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earthand made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart wasgiven to it.”

Your position on this verse is that the lion is Great Britainand that the eagle’s wings are the U.S.A. I agree. However, Ibelieve the giving of a man’s heart to ‘Uncle Sam’ needs to bere-thought. The man’s heart was given to the lion, not to thewings. “It,” the lion, was lifted up, not the wings. And a man’sheart was given to “it,” not to them.

Reply: The unclear wording of this passage leaves the door openfor your question. The issue is—does “it” refer to the lion (GreatBritain) or the eagle (the U.S.)?

We know that the United States does use the symbol of UncleSam (a man) as well as the symbol of the eagle. Also, the U.S. hasdealt with her enemies in a very humane way. The United Stateshas defeated them in war. Then, instead of plundering them, she hashelped them build their countries back up.

These are the reasons I believe that the “it” refers to the U.S.However, I certainly would not claim infallibility on this point. Itis fortunate this particular question doesn’t have a great deal ofimpact on the overall meaning of this very important prophecy.

Business as usualI have heard by a number of Bible teachers that, before the

Second Coming of Christ and the 1,000-year reign of peace,there will be transference of wealth from the unbelievers tothe believers. The verse used is “The wealth of the wicked isstored up for the righteous.” (Proverbs 13:22) I do not see howthis fits into the endtime events. Please comment.

Reply: I don’t see the Bible specifically prophesying a massiveshift of wealth from non-Christians to Christians prior to the SecondComing. However, I do believe that God will make financial re-sources available to those who are fulfilling the Great Commission.If we are to preach the gospel of Christ into all the world, it will re-quire considerable financial resources.

Any teaching that non-believers will suffer massive financiallosses before the Second Coming of Christ is probably not scrip-tural. The Bible tells us that men will be eating and drinking,marrying and giving in marriage until the day that the Lordcomes. It sounds like “business as usual” to me.

Mystery Babylon is RomeI’ve heard it taught that New York City is possibly the new

Babylon? Could this be true, seeing that New York is a worldtrade city, and it is sometimes called Babylon?

Reply: It is being taught widely by some that Mystery Babylonof Revelation 17 & 18 is America with New York City as the tradecenter. According to the Bible, this is not true.

The woman named Mystery Babylon in Revelation 17 is identi-fied with several unmistakable clues:

Verse 18 tells us that the woman is a city. Verse 15 teaches that she is also an international system. Verse 9 explains that the woman (the city) sits on seven hills. Verse 4 says that the woman is arrayed in purple and red. According to verse 6, the woman was to be a great persecutor of

Christians.

There is a very powerful force on this earth that fulfills every oneof these prophecies to the letter.

Rome is a city. It is known as “the city of seven hills.” Rome is the headquarters for the Roman Catholic Church, which

claims one billion members from all over the world. There are two ruling bodies in the Catholic Church—the

Cardinals who wear red, and the Bishops and Archbishops whowear purple.

History tells us that the Vatican and the papacy have been re-sponsible for the deaths of at least 50 million Christians over the last1,700 years.

The Vatican fulfills this prophecy so accurately it is astonish-ing! Rome is Mystery Babylon. It is not America, and it is notNew York City.

The “Two Harvests”Jesus in Matthew 13 and John in Revelation 14 speak about

the two harvests of people at the end of the tribulation. Whatpeople will remain on the earth after the two harvests of peo-ple?

Reply: The clearest picture is given in Revelation 14. The firstharvest is the rapture of the church. The second harvest refers to thearmies of the one-world government of the Antichrist being cast intothe winepress of God’s wrath at Armageddon.

Not every human being left on earth after the rapture will fight atthe Battle of Armageddon. Daniel 7:12 explains that the nations(the beasts) on earth at the time of the Second Coming will havetheir dominion (their power) taken away, but their lives will be pro-longed for a season and a time.

The Bible is not explicitly clear concerning who will be allowed tolive on earth as mortals into the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christand His church. We know that the Israelites, who were twentyyears of age and below, were not held responsible for the unbelief oftheir parents when Israel refused to possess the Promise Land. Theywere allowed to enter the Promise Land after their parents died inthe wilderness.

The same may well hold true into the millennium. WhetherGod will use the same age factor or not will be decided by GodHimself.

They will be poured out during the Seventh TrumpetLet me begin by thanking you for your good work.The first four bowls (vials) in Revelation 16:1-9 are the

same as the proclamations of the two witnesses in Revelation11:6—“These men have power to shut up the sky so that itwill not rain during the time they are prophesying; and theyhave power to turn the waters into blood and to strike theearth with every kind of plague as often as they want.”

Revelation 11:5 states, “If anyone tries to harm them, firecomes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This ishow anyone who wants to harm them must die.”

The fifth and sixth bowls may also be proclamations of thetwo witnesses. The seventh bowl is poured out, and thechurch is raptured along with the two witnesses at the begin-ning of this bowl. Why do you not connect the two witnessesand the bowls together?

Reply: You bring up a very interesting question. Does God ac-tually unleash some of the vials through the ministry of the twowitnesses, or are the things that are done by these two prophetsmerely similar to the vials?

We don’t believe it’s possible for the vials to be poured out duringthe ministry of the two witnesses because we can prove that the vialsare poured out during the sounding of the seventh trumpet. Since thesounding of the seventh trumpet signals the end of the ministry of thetwo witnesses, it is obvious that the vials are poured out after theirministries have concluded.

How do we know that the vials are poured out during the sound-ing of the seventh trumpet?

One of the things that occurs when the seventh trumpet sounds isthat the temple in heaven is opened (Revelation 11:19). This is im-portant because Revelation 15:5-6 tells us that, when the temple inheaven is opened, the seven angels having the seven plagues comeout. They then pour out their vials.

Another thing that happens under the seventh trumpet is the ar-rival of the time of God’s wrath (Revelation 11:18). Revelation15:1 teaches us that the seven last plagues contain the wrath ofGod.

From these things we can see that all seven vials will occur dur-ing the seventh trumpet era.

The utimate outcome of the Israeli-Syrian negotiations

Reply: I am so happy you are able to listen to “Politics &Religion” in Ethiopia.

1.It was understood when the Israeli-Syrian negotiationsbegan that any peace with Syria would entail the total returnof the Golan Heights. It appears that Israeli Prime MinisterBarak has decided to pay that price.

From the prophecies of the Bible, we know this will resultin disaster. Scripture is clear that the armies of the WorldCommunity will invade Israel at the time of Armageddon bycrossing the dried up Euphrates River. This path will thenlead through the Golan Heights and into Israel. So Israel isgetting ready to assist her enemies’ future invasion.

2.Israel has begun preparations for the building of the ThirdTemple, but actual construction has not yet begun.

3.There are three things you should do to understand propheticevents: Go through our Understanding the Endtimeprophecy course, subscribe to Endtime magazine, and lis-ten to “Politics & Religion.”

What are the possibili-ties that Death, thepale horse rider ofRevelation 6, hasbeen loose upon the

earth during the 20th Century? Beforeyou totally reject this idea, take a mo-ment to consider the following facts.

The bloodiest centuryThe 20th Century was the bloodiest

century in the entire history of thehuman race. Before the 20th Century, awar had never claimed 1 million lives.Then came World War I with its 8 mil-lion deaths. Twenty short years later,World War II resulted in 52 million fa-talities. These two wars alone qualify the20th Century to be labeled the “century

of death.” But there is much, much more.The Economist magazine, September

11, 1999, reports that the governmentsof the Soviet Union, China, Germanyand Japan combined have killed, duringthis century, 170 million in political

purges. When we add to that the 8 mil-lion killed in World War I and the 52million in World War II, the level of in-flicted deaths becomes absolutelystaggering!

to also mention the unprecedentedslaughter of life in the 20th Century byway of abortion. Between 1975 and theyear 2000, approximately 1.14 billion ba-bies have been killed by abortion.

Add to this total of death—victims ofearthquakes, famine, AIDS, cancer andmany other death-dealing diseases. Thetotal claimed by the pale horse rider be-comes mind-boggling. With just thosecauses that we have been able to listhere, we can calculate a total of at leastone-billion three-hundred eighty millioninflicted deaths during the last one hun-dred years!

When we realize that the total popula-tion of the earth to begin the 20thCentury was 1.6 billion, 1.38 billion vio-lent deaths during the 20th Centurybecome all the more astounding!

Is this idea scriptural?If the fourth seal and its pale horse

rider has been loose during the 20thCentury, then it is obvious that the first,second, and third seals must have beenloosed before this. Could this be true?

The identity of the white horse rider,the red horse and the black horse is ex-plained in A Message for the President,chapter 3, and in Understanding theEndtime, Lesson 4. Let’s take a momentto briefly review the identity of thesethree horses and their riders.

The white horse rider symbolizesRoman Catholicism. White is the offi-cial color of the pope and the Vatican.The pope dresses in white, his helicopteris white, his popemobile is white and hisjet airplane is white. If he had a horse, itwould certainly be white as well.

The red horse rider is Communism.Red is the official color of Communismor Socialism. That’s the reason that so-cialist countries are known as RedChina, Red Russia, et cetera. When Godwanted to prophesy about Communism,he used the symbol of the red horse.

But what about the black horse? Mostpeople are not aware of it, but black isthe official color of Capitalism andDemocracy. The balances in the hand ofthe black horse rider symbolize trade, thecentral message of Capitalism.

Once we understand the identities ofthe white horse, the red horse and theblack horse, it is easy to see that theyhave been loosed on earth for quite sometime. Catholicism dates, at least, back to

325 AD. The Communist Manifesto waswritten in 1848. We also know thatCapitalism has been a force for at least100 years now.

Since it can be shown that the firstthree seals were all loosed prior to 1900,then it makes perfect sense that the 4thseal, Death, would be unleashed uponthe earth during the 20th Century. The1.38 billion deaths that have occurredduring mankind’s bloodiest century evercertainly support this belief!

Experiencing prophecy withoutrealizing it

Throughout the history of God’s deal-ing with man, most human beings havebeen unaware of the prophetic times inwhich they lived. At the first coming ofJesus, many incredible prophecies werefulfilled to the letter. Yet most peoplemissed His First Coming.

The same thing is occurring right now.We are experiencing far more propheticfulfillment than occurred at the firstcoming of Jesus. Yet most people againare blissfully unaware of the prophetictimes in which we presently live.

We are still in the pale horse eraEven though the bloodiest century of

mankind is now over, that does not meanthat the era of the pale horse rider,Death, is over. We know that Revelation9:13-16 prophesies a war that will kill“one-third part of men.” If this literallymeans what it says, two billion humanbeings will be wiped out in this comingwar. It would appear that this catastrophewill also be included under the era of the

pale horse rider—Death. If we add thistwo billion that are prophesied to die tothe 1.38 billion deaths we have alreadydocumented, this would bring the toll ofdeath over the last one hundred years toan incredible 3.38 billion human beings.Can anyone doubt that Death has beenriding through the earth during the 20thCentury?!

After the pale horse rider—then-what?

The pale horse rider was loosed uponthe earth when the fourth seal was un-leashed. A description of events underthe fifth seal is given in Revelation 6:9-11,

“And when he had opened thefifth seal, I saw under the altar thesouls of them that were slain for theword of God, and for the testimonywhich they held: And they criedwith a loud voice, saying, How long,O Lord, holy and true, dost thou notjudge and avenge our blood on themthat dwell on the earth? And whiterobes were given unto every one ofthem; and it was said unto them,that they should rest yet for a littleseason, until their fellowservantsalso and their brethren, that shouldbe killed as they were, should be ful-filled.”It is obvious that the events of the fifth

seal occur during the time of the GreatTribulation, since the fifth seal speaks ofthe martyrdom of the saints. Notice thatthose souls under the altar are told towait just a little season until the persecu-tion of their fellowservants and theirbrethren was fulfilled.

From all of these things, we under-stand that we are approaching the end ofthe fourth seal era and nearing the be-ginning of the time of the GreatTribulation. Negotiations on the finalstatus of Jerusalem and the return of areasof Judea to Arab control indicate thatconditions are presently shaping up tofulfill the prophecies concerning theGreat Tribulation period. The GreatTribulation will last for three and one-half years.

Immediately after the GreatTribulation, the kingdoms of this worldwill become the kingdoms of our Lordand of his Christ, and He shall reign for-ever and ever. Even so, come Lord Jesus!❏

There are two major positionswhen it comes to interpret-ing the prophecies of theBible. One belief holds thatthe prophecies of the Bible

largely pertain to the endtimes, and areeither being fulfilled now or are yet tocome. This position is known as theFuturist belief.

The other position is called Preterist orHistoricist. Those holding this positioncontend that the prophecies of the Bibleare largely, if not entirely, fulfilled andpast.

The Futurist position has been theview held by the majority of Christiansfor at least the last century. However, theHistoricist position seems to be reassert-ing itself of late.

Our purpose today is not to cast reflec-tion on those who may sincerely holdeither of these views. We do want to ex-amine both positions in light of scriptureto see which of these is biblical.

Defining HistoricismOne of the most well known of the his-

toricist writings is a book by RalphWoodrow entitled Great Prophecies of theBible. We will use his teachings to pre-sent the Historicist position as fairly andaccurately as possible.

Major prophetic doctrines ofHistoricism are as follows:

1. The prophecy of Daniel’s 70 Weekshas already been fulfilled in its en-tirety.

2. The Antichrist is not one particularman, but has been fulfilled by the pa-pacy of the Roman Catholic Church.We should not be expecting anAntichrist to appear in the future.

3. The prophesied ten-horn kingdom ex-isted at the time of the dissolution ofthe Roman Empire, and the papacyrose up among these ten kings.

4. The Great Tribulation lasted 1,260years and is now past. There will notbe a time of great tribulation at the

Second Coming. (Woodward does be-lieve in a Second Coming of Jesus.Apparently, some Historicists do not.)

5. The events of Jesus’ prophecy inMatthew 24 have already been ful-filled and do not pertain to our timestoday.

The Futurist position1. There is a gap between the 69th and

70th week of Daniel’s 70 Weeks’prophecy. The first 69 weeks havebeen fulfilled. The 70th week, a seven-year period, is yet to come to pass.

3. The prophesied ten-horn kingdom isyet to appear on earth, and theAntichrist will arise among these tenkings.

4. The Great Tribulation is yet future andwill last for three and one-half years.(Some Futurists believe it will last forseven years.) It will occur during thelast half of Daniel’s 70th week, and willbe terminated when the Antichrist isdestroyed by Jesus Christ atArmageddon.

5. Most of Jesus’ prophecies in Matthew24 deal with events of the endtime andhave yet to be fulfilled.

Step by step

Has the prophecy of Daniel’s 70Weeks already been fulfilled in itsentirety?

There are several aspects of theHistoricist interpretation of Daniel’s 70Weeks prophecy that we want to exam-ine. Let’s look at the prophecy found inDaniel 9:24-27.

24 “Seventy weeks are determinedupon thy people and upon thy holycity, to finish the transgression, andto make an end of sins, and to makereconciliation for iniquity, and tobring in everlasting righteousness,and to seal up the vision andprophecy, and to anoint the mostHoly. 25 Know therefore and understand,that from the going forth of thecommandment to restore and tobuild Jerusalem unto the Messiahthe Prince shall be seven weeks, andthreescore and two weeks: the streetshall be built again, and the wall,even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and twoweeks shall Messiah be cut off, butnot for himself: and the people ofthe prince that shall come shall de-stroy the city and the sanctuary; andthe end thereof shall be with a flood,and unto the end of the war desola-

tions are determined. 27 And he shall confirm thecovenant with many for one week:and in the midst of the week he shallcause the sacrifice and the oblationto cease, and for the overspreadingof abominations he shall make itdesolate, even until the consumma-tion, and that determined shall bepoured upon the desolate.”

Who is the “he” that will confirmthe covenant for seven years?

Historicists believe the Messiah is theone who was prophesied to confirm thecovenant. Futurists teach that it will bethe “prince that shall come”—theAntichrist. This question is very easy toanswer.

Notice that the same “he” that is toconfirm the covenant is also to take awaythe daily sacrifice and place theAbomination of Desolation (verse 27).

Daniel 11:30-31 tells us in no uncertainterms that it is the Antichrist (the kingof the north) and his followers who takeaway the daily sacrifice and place theAbomination of Desolation.

30 “For the ships of Chittim shallcome against him: therefore he shallbe grieved, and return, and have in-dignation against the holycovenant: so shall he do; he shalleven return, and have intelligencewith them that forsake the holycovenant. 31 And arms shall stand on his part,and they shall pollute the sanctuaryof strength, and shall take away thedaily sacrifice, and they shall placethe abomination that maketh deso-late.”

This passage is obviously not referringto the Messiah. Would the Messiah ever

“have indignation against the holycovenant?” Would He ever “pollute thesanctuary of strength?” Obviously not!The entirety of Daniel 11:21-45 is dis-cussing the actions of the king of thenorth—the Antichrist.

So we can see clearly that it is theAntichrist, not the Messiah, who takesaway the daily sacrifice and places theAbomination of Desolation.

Remember that the one who takesaway the daily sacrifice also is the onewho confirms the covenant according toDaniel 9:27. So we know for certainthat it is the Antichrist, not theMessiah, who will confirm thecovenant for seven years. Daniel11:22 strengthens this proof when itcalls the king of the north (theAntichrist) the “prince of thecovenant.”

This one proof totally destroys thefoundation of the Historicist posi-tion. However, there are severalother aspects of this question thatwe want to examine.

Confirming the covenant for seven years

Daniel 9:27 says that “he” willconfirm the covenant for one week(seven years). Historicists say thatJesus confirmed the covenant of theNew Testament during his three andone-half years of ministry. He wasthen crucified in the midst of theweek (after 3 1/2 years), and thenwas caught up into heaven 43 dayslater. Herein lies the problem.

How did Jesus confirm thecovenant for the last three and one-half years of the 70th week since he wasgone from the earth? The only escapefrom this dilemma is to say that Godcontinued to deal with the Jews throughHis church for three and one-half yearsafter His ascension. However, there is nohistorical or biblical proof that Godturned from Jew to Gentile exactly threeand one-half years after the crucifixion.

In Great Prophecies of the Bible,Woodward says that the confirming ofthe covenant with the Jews during thelast 3 1/2 years of Daniel’s 70th week wasfinished 3 1/2 years after Jesus’ ascension.He claims this was when God sent Peterto preach to a Gentile, Cornelius in Acts10. However, there is no scriptural or his-torical proof for this assertion. This claim

has to be made in order for the doctrinethat Jesus is the one that confirmed thecovenant to fit. Of course, we have al-ready proven that this is not true anyway.

The 70th Week—past or futureThe Historicists contend that there is

no gap between the 69th week and the70th week in Daniel’s prophecy, eventhough they are spoken of separately inDaniel’s account. How can we knowwhether the 70th week is already fulfilledor yet to happen?

Daniel 9:27 tells us that the takingaway of the daily sacrifice and theAbomination of Desolation happens inthe midst of the 70th week. If we canprove when the Abomination ofDesolation takes place, then we canknow when the 70th week occurs.

Historicists say that the daily sacrificewas taken away by the crucifixion ofJesus Christ. But we have already provenby Daniel 11:30-31 that this is not true.This passage plainly says that the takingaway of the daily sacrifice and the plac-ing of the Abomination of Desolationwill be done by the Antichrist and thosethat forsake the holy covenant. So whatis the Abomination of Desolation, andwhen does it take place?

When will the Abomination of Desolation occur?

Jesus referred to the Abomination ofDesolation in Matthew 24:15. He plainlysaid that the Abomination of Desolationwould be the event that launched theGreat Tribulation.

15 “When ye therefore shall see theabomination of desolation, spokenof by Daniel the prophet, stand inthe holy place, (whoso readeth, lethim understand:)

16 Then let them which be inJudaea flee into the moun-tains…21 For then shall be great tribu-lation, such as was not since thebeginning of the world to thistime, no, nor ever shall be.”Matthew 24:15-16, 21

The Great Tribulation will lastfor three and one-half years. Weknow this because Daniel 7:25 saysthe little horn, the Antichrist, willwear out the saints of the mostHigh for a time, times and the di-viding of time. A time is one year,times is two years, and the dividingof time is one-half year, for a totalof three and one-half years.

How do we know that time,times and the dividing of time isthree and one-half years? We candetermine this because another de-scription of this time of GreatTribulation is given in Revelation13:5-8. It states that the beast, theAntichrist, will make war againstthe saints for 42 months. Of course,

three and one-half years and 42 monthsis the exact same amount of time.

Revelation 12:5-14 also teaches thatthe Great Tribulation lasts for three andone-half years. It says that the woman(Israel) will flee from the persecution ofthe dragon (Satan) for 1,260 days. One-thousand two-hundred threescore daysalso equals three and one-half years.

As we can see, every single referenceto the Great Tribulation in the Biblestates that it will last for three and one-half years.

Jesus said that the Abomination ofDesolation would begin the GreatTribulation. Since we know that theGreat Tribulation lasts for three and one-half years, we know that the

prophecy—fulfilled or yet to come

Abomination of Desolation occurs threeand one-half years before the Battle ofArmageddon. Daniel 9:27 says that theAbomination of Desolation takes placein the middle of the seven years knownas Daniel’s 70th Week. This proves thatthe Great Tribulation fills the last half ofthis seven-year period.

Abomination of Desolation happens three and one-half years before the Second Coming

Matthew 24:29 tells us that, immedi-ately after the Great Tribulation, the sunwill be darkened, the moon will not giveher light, the stars will fall from heaven,and the powers of the heavens shall beshaken. If the Great Tribulation has al-ready happened, as the Historicistviewpoint contends, when did all thesethings come to pass? Obviously, theyhaven’t.

Verse 30-31 continues right on to tellus—“And then shall appear the sign ofthe Son of man in heaven: and then shallall the tribes of the earth mourn, andthey shall see the Son of man coming inthe clouds of heaven with power andgreat glory. And he shall send his angelswith a great sound of a trumpet, and theyshall gather together his elect from thefour winds, from one end of heaven tothe other.”

This passage clearly states that, imme-diately after the tribulation, the sun willbe darkened, the moon will not give herlight, and the stars will fall from heaven.It continues on to say that, right afterthat, Jesus will come in the clouds, thepeople of the earth will see Him, and hewill send his angels with a sound of agreat trumpet to gather His elect.

Are we to believe that Jesus has al-ready come back? Has He in somemysterious way secretly gathered Hiselect? Of course not!

The conclusion is simply unavoidable.The Historicist view that all these thingshave already happened is simply not true.

What is the Abomination of Desolation?

Some Historicists teach that theAbomination of Desolation was fulfilledin 167 BC when Antiochus Epiphanesoffered a pig on the altar in the Jews’Second Temple. We know that thiscould not possibly be the Abominationof Desolation because in Matthew 24:15

Jesus taught that the Abomination ofDesolation was an event that was yet fu-ture. The actions of AntiochusEpiphanes occurred at least 200 years be-fore Jesus said this.

In Great Prophecies of the Bible,Woodward teaches that theAbomination of Desolation was whenthe Roman armies were encamped roundabout Jerusalem before its destruction in70 AD. We know this can’t possibly betrue because a covenant was supposed tohave been confirmed 3 1/2 years prior tothe Abomination of Desolation.Nothing like that happened.

Immediately after the 3 1/2 year tribu-lation triggered by the Abomination ofDesolation, the sun was to be darkened,the moon was to not give her light, andthe stars were to fall from heaven. If theAbomination of Desolation occurredprior to 70 AD, when did these thingshappen?

Matthew 24:30-31 teaches us that,right after the sun is darkened and thestars fall from heaven, the Lord will sendHis angels to gather His elect and the in-habitants of the earth will see Him. If theAbomination of Desolation had hap-pened around 70 AD, theLord would havegathered His electat that time. Didanything like thathappen? Of coursenot! The surroundingof Jerusalem by theRomans was not theAbomination ofDesolation.

What then is thisevent called theAbomination ofDesolation? Matthew24:15 tells us that theAbomination ofDesolation will standin the holy place.Where was the holyplace?…in the Jewishtemple, of course.

The Apostle Pauldescribes theAbomination ofDesolation in IIThessalonians 2:3-4.

3 “Let no man de-ceive you by any

means: for that day shall not come,except there come a falling awayfirst, and that man of sin be re-vealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth him-self above all that is called God, orthat is worshipped; so that he asGod sitteth in the temple of God,shewing himself that he is God.”

Paul says here that the man of sin, theAntichrist, will sit “in the temple ofGod.” Where did Jesus say that theAbomination of Desolation would takeplace in Matthew 24:15?…in the holyplace which was in the temple. Paul wenton to say that the Antichrist would sit inthe temple of God claiming to be God.This is the event known as theAbomination of Desolation. It is placedby the Antichrist, not by Jesus Christ.

So what have we learned about Daniel’s 70 Weeks prophecy? 1. It is the Antichrist, not the Messiah,

who will confirm the covenant forseven years.

2. It is the Antichrist that takes away thedaily sacrifice and places the

Prophecy—fulfilled or yet to come

Once we understand these things, itbecomes obvious that Daniel’s 70th weekis a future event, not something past.

Another prominent view of the Historicists is that there will not be a future Antichrist.

Historicists say that the propheciesabout the Antichrist have been fulfilledby the papacy of the Roman CatholicChurch. They teach that the ten-hornbeast of Daniel 7 symbolized the RomanEmpire. They claim that the RomanEmpire was divided into ten Gothictribes and that the Roman papacy andthe Roman Catholic Church arose fromamong these tribes. Since so much perse-cution has been perpetrated againstChristians by the papacy, Historicists be-lieve this has fulfilled the propheciesconcerning the Great Tribulation.

We have to acknowledge that tremen-dous persecution has been carried outagainst Christians by the papacy over thelast 1,700 years. It is estimated that over50 million Christians have died in thesepersecutions because they would not pro-fess belief in the doctrines of RomanCatholicism. There is no doubt that theharlot on the back of the beast inRevelation 17 is the Roman CatholicChurch. But does this mean that the pa-pacy fulfilled the prophecies about theAntichrist?

In order to answer this question, weneed to understand that several differentnames are used in scripture to refer to theAntichrist. He is called the man of sin,the son of perdition, the little horn, thatwicked one and the beast. Most com-monly today he is simply referred to asthe Antichrist.

The Bible teaches us that there will betwo evil personages on earth at the timeof the Second Coming of Christ—theAntichrist and the False Prophet. This istaught in Revelation 19:19-20.

19 “And I saw the beast, and thekings of the earth, and their armies,gathered together to make waragainst him that sat on the horse,and against his army. 20 And the beast was taken, andwith him the false prophet thatwrought miracles before him, withwhich he deceived them that hadreceived the mark of the beast, andthem that worshipped his image.These both were cast alive into alake of fire burning with brimstone.”

Notice that both the beast (theAntichrist) and the False Prophet will becast alive into the lake of fire when Jesuscomes to earth at the time of the Battleof Armageddon. This means they willboth be alive on earth at that time. If wesay that the coming of the Antichrist isnot future, we also must say that theSecond Coming and the Battle ofArmageddon are not future events ei-ther. Even the Historicists admit that theSecond Coming of Jesus is a future event.

The teaching that ten Gothic tribesgrowing out of the old Roman Empirefulfilled the ten-horn kingdom cannot betrue. We know this because these tentribes no longer are identifiable on earth.Yet the Bible explicitly prophesies in sev-eral places that the ten kings will be inpower at the time of the Second Comingof Jesus.

In the prophecy of Nebuchadnezzar’simage in Daniel 2, the ten toes on theimage represent the same thing as theten horns on the beast in Daniel 7 and in

Revelation 17. It states in Daniel 2:44…

“And in the days of these kings shallthe God of heaven set up a king-dom, which shall never bedestroyed: and the kingdom shallnot be left to other people, but itshall break in pieces and consumeall these kingdoms, and it shall standfor ever.”

Notice that this passage clearly saysthat God will establish his kingdom “inthe days of these kings.” Whatkings?…the prophesied ten-nationunion that will be the power base of theAntichrist.

Revelation 17:12 teaches the samething…

“And the ten horns which thousawest are ten kings, which have re-ceived no kingdom as yet; butreceive power as kings one hourwith the beast.”

These ten kings receive power for avery short period of time with the beast,the Antichrist.

The Bible also says that this ten-na-tion union will fight against Jesus Christwhen He returns to earth with His saints.We know this from verse 14.

him are called, and chosen, andfaithful.”

The prophesied ten kings will be onearth with the Antichrist at the time ofthe Second Coming of Jesus to earth.These ten kings will actually fight againstJesus Christ Himself.

All of these things prove conclusivelythat the Antichrist is yet to appear onearth. We also know that the ten kingswere not to appear 1,600 years ago. Thefact is—their appearance on the worldscene lies just ahead of us now!

Will the pope be the Antichrist asHistoricists claim?

Bible prophecy teaches us that theAntichrist will come out of a revivedHoly Roman Empire. There have alwaysbeen two leaders in the Holy RomanEmpire—a political leader and a spiritualleader. The Holy Roman Empire wasoriginally established in 800 AD whenPope Leo III placed the crown on thehead of Charlemagne. He declared, “Inow crown you emperor of the HolyRoman Empire.”

The Holy Roman Empire has ruled offand on since that time. Each time it hasreared its head, it has always featured apolitical leader and a spiritual leaderworking together to establish a worlddominating empire.

It will be the same arrangement underthe endtime world government of theAntichrist. The political leader will bethe Antichrist, and the spiritual leaderwill be the False Prophet. So we can seeclearly that the pope will not be theAntichrist. However, it is also obviousthat whoever is pope at the time of theAntichrist will be the False Prophet.

The Great Tribulation—past or future?

In Great Prophecies of the Bible, pages69-70, Ralph Woodrow teaches that theGreat Tribulation began at the Romaninvasion of Jerusalem in 70 AD. On page172, he states that the 1,260 days ofGreat Tribulation really speak of 1,260years of Great Tribulation—believingthat each day represents a year. If thiswere true, the Great Tribulation shouldhave been completed somewhere around1330 AD. But does this harmonize at allwith what the Bible says about the GreatTribulation?

Daniel 7:21-22 plainly teaches thatthe Antichrist will make war against thesaints until the coming of Jesus Christ toestablish His kingdom.

“I beheld, and the same horn madewar with the saints, and prevailedagainst them; Until the Ancient ofdays came, and judgment was givento the saints of the most High; andthe time came that the saints pos-sessed the kingdom.”

Matthew 24:29-31 affirms the exactsame thing.

29 “Immediately after the tribula-tion of those days shall the sun bedarkened, and the moon shall notgive her light, and the stars shall fallfrom heaven, and the powers of theheavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the signof the Son of man in heaven: andthen shall all the tribes of the earthmourn, and they shall see the Son ofman coming in the clouds of heavenwith power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angelswith a great sound of a trumpet, andthey shall gather together his electfrom the four winds, from one end ofheaven to the other.”

Notice that this passage states that,immediately after the tribulation of thosedays, the coming of the Son of man willtake place.

On every major point of prophetic un-derstanding, the Historicist viewinevitably ends up in conflict with scrip-

ture. As we have seen, the evidence isabsolutely overwhelming that this viewis simply not what the Bible teaches.

However, it should be noted that someprophetic fulfillment is now history. Forexample, the rebirth of the nation ofIsrael, prophesied in Ezekiel 37, came topass in 1948. In my book, A Message forthe President, it was taught from theprophecies of the Bible that the BerlinWall would come down and the NewWorld Order would result. Theseprophetic fulfillments are now history.

I believe it can be proven that the firstthree seals of Revelation 6 have nowbeen opened (see Lesson 4 ofUnderstanding the Endtime). The far-ther we move into the endtime, the moreof the prophecies will be fulfilled and be-come history rather than futuristic.

What is important?The Historicist vs. Futurist discussion

is not a salvation issue and should not beallowed to become divisive in the churchat a time when our attention should befocused on reaching the lost. However,proper understanding concerningprophetic fulfillment is vital if we are toaccomplish God’s will for these end-times.

Daniel 11:32-33 reveals what God’speople should be doing right now: “…the people that do know their God shallbe strong, and do exploits. And they thatunderstand among the people shall in-struct many…” If we don’t understand,how can we help someone else? ❏

The year of 1999 was not ayear for the faint-hearted.We all had to sort throughthe warnings of the Y2Kalarmists. Should we buy an

but you can’t touch a euro, see a euro, orput one in your pocket. The thing simplydoes not exist—except on the hard dri-ves of your bank’s computer!

Now they’re promising to producesome actual money you can put in yourpocket by July 2002—that is if everybodyhasn’t gotten so used to operating “cash-less” by then that there really won’t beany reason to bother.

We who read the Bible know a cash-less society is coming. The only questionremaining is—“Could the euro be the bigbreak in the dike that ushers it in?” We’llsoon see!

Are we still moving towardArmageddon?

I guess the Battle of Armageddon isstill going to happen. The Bible says it is.

Things became very tense as wemoved toward May 4, 1999. You see, theOslo Accords, signed by Arafat, Rabin,and Clinton way back in September 13,1993, promised that the final status ofJerusalem would be negotiated and im-plemented by May 4, 1999. However,when Israeli Prime Minister BenjaminNetanyahu was asked if he would negoti-ate the status of Jerusalem, he simplysaid, “What is there to negotiate? It’s oureternal capital. We don’t intend to re-di-vide it or share it.”

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafatwarned that he would unilaterally de-clare an independent Palestinian stateon May 4, 1999, if the promise concern-ing Jerusalem were not kept. Netanyahucountered that, if Arafat declaredPalestinian independence, Israel wouldunilaterally draw the borders of separa-

tion between Israel and the new entity. Everyone knew that an explosion of

mega-proportions was brewing. Just intime, hard-liners in Netanyahu’s coali-tion decided to withdraw their supportbecause Netanyahu was proceeding withpreviously agreed upon withdrawals fromportions of the West Bank territories.

The move brought Netanyahu’sgovernment crashing down andmandated new Israeli elections.

With new elections pending,the European Union and theUnited States prevailed on Arafatto postpone his declaration ofstatehood for one year. They fearedthat Arafat’s threat would throwthe election toward Netanyahu.Arafat agreed.

Labor candidate Ehud Barak ranhis campaign on the promise oftrading land for peace while stillsafeguarding Israel’s security. Barakpromised to revive the peacedreams of Israel’s assassinatedleader Yitzhak Rabin, who hap-pened to be Barak’s personalmentor.

The Israeli people desperatelywant to live in peace. They haveknown nothing but war and thethreat of war since the modernState of Israel was born in 1948.They voted to trade land for peace,electing Ehud Barak by a large ma-jority.

Why was this so prophetically important?

Jesus, in Matthew 24:15-21,prophesied specifically about thearea of Judea, which is the areathat Barak intends to trade back tothe Palestinians in exchange forpeace. Jesus said of those Jews whowill live in this area a few yearsfrom now—“When ye thereforeshall see the abomination of deso-lation, spoken of by Daniel theprophet, stand in the holy place,(whoso readeth, let him under-stand:) Then let them which bein Judaea flee into the moun-tains…For then shall be greattribulation, such as was not sincethe beginning of the world to thistime, no, nor ever shall be.”

The critical thing to understandis that the election of Ehud Barakis having a direct bearing onevents that will soon fulfill the prophe-cies of Jesus Himself. That’s the reasonthe election of Barak has had such a di-rect bearing on important propheticfulfillments.

On November 8, 1999, talks wereopened on the final status of Jerusalem.

The Bible is crystal clear that disputeover Jerusalem will be the issue that willultimately trigger the Battle of Armaged-don. When we realize that negotiationson the final status of Jerusalem werebegun in 1999, it makes us know that1999 has been a year of huge propheticsignificance.

Tony Blair: “We are all internationalists now,whether we like it or not.”When the U.S. governmentbegan to whip up public supportfor the military campaign againstKosovo, most of us were sentscrambling to our world maps tosee where our young sons mightjust be called on to die. We weretold that genocide was takingplace and that world peace hingedon bringing Mr. SlobodanMilosevic under obedience to theWorld Community.America didn’t have much stom-

ach for going to war in Kosovo,but both World War I and WorldWar II had started in that part ofthe globe. President Clinton saidthat this military action on thepart of NATO was absolutely nec-essary to save us from World WarIII. And, of course, PresidentClinton had never lied to usyet…had he?

Great Britain’s Prime MinisterTony Blair added his voice tothose advocating the absolute ne-cessity of breaking the will ofYugoslavian President Milosevic.In his speech, Doctrine of theInternational Community, Blairsaid, “We are all internationalistsnow, whether we like it or not. Wecannot refuse to participate inglobal markets if we want to pros-per, we cannot ignore newpolitical ideas in other countries ifwe want to innovate, and we can-not turn our backs on conflictsand the violation of human rightswithin other countries if we wantstill to be secure.” Blair hinted at anew role for NATO, turning itinto the military arm of a newworld order rather than a purelydefensive alliance. He said: “If wecan establish and spread the val-ues of liberty, the rule of law,human rights and an open society,then that is in our national inter-

est too.”

I think we’re starting to get the hang ofpolicing the world through theInternational Community. And youknow, it’s sort of nice for the UnitedStates to not have to police the world allby herself. I think I could get used to this!

One thing sort of bothers me though.This World Community thing looks anawful lot like the world governmentprophesied in the Bible over which theAntichrist will have power. You’re scar-ing me now. Let’s change the subject!

Progress toward global spirituality

If Y2K, the Middle East, the cashlesseuro, and the increased acceptance of theWorld Community were not enough, theglobalists have been very busy during1999 on another very important front.The Bible prophesies a global religioussystem that will work hand in hand withthe coming one-world government.

The Dallas Thanksgiving SquareConference was held mid-March, 1999.This was a large interfaith gathering de-signed to cultivate dialog among thedifferent faiths of the world. CardinalArinze, President of the Vatican Councilfor Inter-religious Dialogue, was a primemover at this meeting. EpiscopalianBishop Swing, the head of the UnitedReligions Initiative was also there.

Then in June, the United ReligionsInitiative met to finalize the writing of itscharter. Religions from all over the worldwere in attendance. Apparently, the URIaccomplished its mission. The constitu-tion signing for the United ReligionsInitiative is all set next year.

The largest interfaith meeting of 1999was the Council for the Parliament ofthe World’s Religions held in CapeTown, South Africa, December 1-8. Atthe previous Parliament of the World’sReligions meeting held in Chicago in1993, a document called the GlobalEthic was adopted and published. Thereports are not yet in on what was doneat the Cape Town meeting.

The goal of all these interfaith meet-ings is to arrive at a global belief systemso broad that all major religions can as-cribe to it. Ultimately, allegiance to thisglobal belief system will be required for

participation in the business of the NewWorld Order.

Then there is ChinaChina is that 800-pound gorilla that

has planted itself squarely in the middleof the world’s living room. It simply can-not be ignored! The 200 million manarmy spoken of in Revelation 9:13-16will almost certainly come from China.The flashpoint for the prophesied warthat will kill 2 billion human beings ismost likely the Taiwan dispute.

Taiwanese President Lee threw gaso-line on the fire on July 9, 1999, when hesaid that China should deal with Taiwanon a state-to-state basis. China regardedthis as tantamount to a declaration of in-dependence. China has said repeatedlythat a declaration of independence by

Taiwan would be grounds for invasion byMainland China. Since President Lee’sstate-to-state remark, China has estab-lished two missile launching sitesopposite from Taiwan. She has issued vo-ciferous threats of impending invasion ofthe island, which she regards as a rene-gade province.

Add to this mix the stealing of topU.S. military secrets by Chinese opera-tives. Throw in the “accidental”bombing of the Chinese Embassy inYugoslavia, and you have a formula forimpending disaster.

Top developments of 1999When we assess the prophetic high-

lights of 1999, we have to admit that therole of the World Community wasgreatly enhanced by the operations inKosovo. It appears that NATO is movingtoward becoming the army of the UnitedNations as a result of developments inKosovo.

The election of Ehud Barak as PrimeMinister of Israel has already resulted inthe rejuvenation of the Palestinian peaceprocess and the reopening of peace nego-tiations with Syria.

The de facto declaration of indepen-dence by Taiwanese President Lee mayhave already lit the fuse on the greatestglobal disaster in the history of mankind.

Fasten your safety belts. The year2000 could very well be themost important year propheti-cally since the crucifixion ofJesus Christ.

Two major prophetic fulfillments arelikely to occur this year. The Bibleprophesies a war that will kill “the thirdpart of men,” and it speaks of the con-firming of a covenant that will trigger thefinal seven years to Armageddon.Though we cannot say for certain thatthese two huge events will come to passin this year of 2000, the probability isvery high.

One-third of world’s population tobe destroyed

China has threatened repeatedly to in-vade Taiwan if the island does not unitewith the mainland peacefully. Taiwanhas made it clear that she will considerunification with the mainland onceChina becomes a democracy. WithChina’s total aversion to democracy inany form, Taiwan’s position virtually as-sures that it will be a very long time

before any movement takes place towardunification.

If China is to carry out her threat to in-vade Taiwan, she has a very limitedwindow of opportunity in which to ac-complish it. The United States plans tobegin deployment of anti-missile defensesystems by late spring or early summer of2000. Once these systems become opera-tive, China will lose her ability toblackmail the United States with her in-

tercontinental nuclear capabilities.Consequently, the most likely time forthe invasion of Taiwan is during the firstsix months of the year 2000. (See the“Seven Trumpets” video for a more com-plete explanation of this prophecy.)

ment, by September 13, 2000, on all out-standing issues between the Palestiniansand the Israelis. These issues includedefining of final borders and determiningthe final status of Jerusalem.

If some agreement on the final statusof Jerusalem is achieved, it will have todeal with the status of the center of theJerusalem issue, the Temple Mount. Ifthis agreement in some way facilitatesthe building of Israel’s Third Temple,then this accord will probably be theprophesied “confirming of the covenant”(Daniel 9:27). It is the “confirming of thecovenant” that launches the final seven-year period and culminates at the Battleof Armageddon and the Second Comingof Jesus to earth.

The possible developments alreadymentioned are so huge in their impor-tance that other pending events couldpossibly be ignored. However, there aresome other prophecy fulfilling develop-ments on slate that should not beignored.

Religious United Nations to beformed

A meeting to explore the possibility offorming a sister organization to theUnited Nations was held in 1996. Thoseinvolved were concerned about the reli-gious conflicts that continue to threatenpeace on earth. While the political lead-ers of the world meet daily, and now haveachieved enough harmony to settle theworld’s problems through the venue ofthe World Community, most religiousleaders still don’t even speak to eachother. The decision was made to form anorganization that could do for religiousharmony on earth what the UnitedNations has achieved amongst the na-tions of the world.

Many interfaith conferences havebeen held between 1996 and the presenttime. The year 2000 will celebrate thesuccessful conclusion of these endeavors.On June 26, 2000, a constitution signingceremony will be held for the UnitedReligions Organization. The signing willbe held on June 26, because that was thedate for the signing of the constitution ofthe United Nations in 1945. The cere-mony for the United Religions will notonly be held on the same date as the UNsigning, it will also be conducted in thesame city—San Francisco, in the same

room of the same Fairmont Hotel. Talkabout symbolism!

The key role that the global religionand its leader the False Prophet will playin the emerging New World Order makethe birth of the United ReligionsOrganization an event of extraordinaryimportance.

Ratification of the InternationalCriminal Court

On July 17, 1998, the nations of theworld voted acceptance of the RomeStatute of the International CriminalCourt. This International CriminalCourt Statute had been a goal of the in-ternationalists for many years. However,the International Criminal Court cannotbegin to function until it is ratified by theCongresses of at least 60 nations. A cam-paign to obtain this required ratificationcan be expected this coming year. Thebiggest obstacle in the way is oppositionfrom the world’s most powerful nation—the United States.

If ratification is somehow achieved,the world will never be the same. Everytime you cross an international borderyou will become subject to possible arrestand trial before this new internationaltribunal. Believe it or not, this is not anoverstatement!

We are presently watching the estab-lishment of the world court system thatwill be used to enforce the edicts of theAntichrist and his one-world govern-ment.

The bottom lineNever has it been more important to

be prophetically aware than at this time.As we enter the new millennium, we canonly say that these are indeed momen-tous times.

The Apostle Paul put it this way inRomans 13:11, “And that, knowing thetime, that now it is high time to awakeout of sleep: for now is our salvationnearer than when we believed.”

U.S. Senator James Inhofefrom Oklahoma is as con-cerned about China as weare here at Endtime. Hisresearch and tenacity

helped to expose the Chinese SpyScandal in the Clinton Administration.He revealed last March that the Chinesehave stolen many of the United States’top military secrets and nuclear weaponsmanufacturing capabilities.

Recently, he led the Congressional ef-fort to reject the ComprehensiveNuclear Test Ban Treaty, understandingthat in the wake of the spy scandal andconstant threats over Taiwan, the U.S.needs all the nuclear deterrent it can get.

We spoke with Sen. Inhofe on“Politics & Religion” the day before theTreaty was rejected by the U.S. Senate.

Baxter: Senator, thank you very muchfor being a guest on “Politics &Religion.”

Inhofe: Thank you, Irvin. It is nice tobe with you, and also it is nice to be withsomeone who is trying to keep this thing

alive. The idea that this President hasgiven away virtually everything in our ar-senal to China is something that peoplehave forgotten about. They have beendistracted by Kosovo. Now they arebeing distracted by the ComprehensiveNuclear Test Ban Treaty. But we need tokeep talking about what is happeningwith China.

Baxter: Senator, China has repeatedly

said she would invade Taiwan if Taiwanrefuses to be reunited with the Mainlandthrough diplomatic talks. In your opin-ion, from where you sit, is it likely thatChina would, in fact, invade Taiwan inthe near future?

Inhofe: I think that the likelihood isvery good. Let’s remember the threatsthat happened three years ago. TheChinese were trying to influence the

election of President Lee in Taiwan, andthey were firing their missiles into theTaiwan Straits. The second-highestranking Chinese military official wasasked the question, “Aren’t you con-cerned about the United States comingto the aid of Taiwan?” His response was“No, they are not willing to trade LosAngeles for Taipei.” You can’t put any in-terpretation on that, other than agrowing arrogance. They have reachedthe point of knowing that our President,Bill Clinton, has stopped us from beingable to deploy a national missile defensesystem. Consequently, we find ourselveshelpless before China’s nuclear black-mail. So this kind of a threat is very real.My answer to your question is yes.

Baxter: That threat was actually pub-lished in the New York Times. China hasrecently been holding military maneu-vers opposite Taiwan. They say that theywill move militarily against Taiwan, ifTaiwan does not reunite with theMainland and forsake their claim of in-dependence. If China invades Taiwan,will the United States defend her?

Inhofe: The answer is that we shouldbe involved. However, with thisPresident and his affection for theChinese and all that he has done forthem, I cannot imagine that he would doanything. Now this is really a personalopinion because I know Bill Clinton. Iknow the way he lies with such convic-tion. The Chinese have been his allies.This is where he has been able to financehis elections. He has sold, given away orcovered up the theft of every weapon inour nuclear arsenal to the Chinese. It hasreached the point that the CIA said wethought we were somewhere betweenten and twenty years ahead of theChinese militarily. Instead, we find our-selves in a dead heat with them becauseof this President. So would he then goagainst China? I just can’t conceive it.

Sax: Senator Inhofe, are the Chinesebluffing? They say they will use force toreunite Taiwan with the Mainland. Arethey bluffing?

Inhofe: I don’t think so. You stop andthink how methodically the Chinesehave been doing things. With DougHunter in the House and me in the

Senate, we stopped the transfer of land inCalifornia to Cosco—the ChineseOcean shipping company, which isowned ultimately by the Red Chinesemilitary. This is the same CoscoShipping Company that was caughtshipping in 2,000 AK 47’s to be used instreet gangs in Los Angeles. This is thesame consortium that now has control ofports on both ends of the Panama Canal.These people haven’t been asleep. Theyhave been very carefully manipulatingand buying up land, and putting up in-stallations in strategic places around theworld. It’s something we should be con-cerned about. Do they have the power?

Yes! Let’s stop and realize that theChinese, the Russians and now theNorth Koreans have missiles that willreach anywhere in the United States.We have no defense against those mis-siles because, since 1993, PresidentClinton has been able to stop us fromdeploying a national missile defense sys-tem.

Baxter: China can hit the UnitedStates with nuclear weapons right now?We know that for sure, is that correct?

Inhofe: Yes.

Baxter: Let’s say they could take out50 million of us, or let’s even drop itdown to 20 or 30 million. Would thosefigures be reasonable? Do they have thatcapacity?

Inhofe: Well, yes. If they use our W-88warhead technology, of which they havethe information, yes, it could be thatdevastating. A lot of your listeners willremember in 1962, when all of a suddenwe found out that they had missiles inCuba. They were actually targeting 40American cities. Do you remember howpanic hit the streets? Well, I look attoday’s situation as being more seriousthan that. At least then they were allconcentrated on one island, Cuba.

Baxter: So the Chinese right now canhit us with a powerful nuclear strike, andat this time, we have no deterrent?

Inhofe: We have zero defenses.

Baxter: The only defense that we haveis the threat that we will blow them awayin retaliation?

Inhofe: Yes.

Sax: Senator, what do you think isgoing to happen? How do you see thisplaying out?

Inhofe: I think we are in a positionnow where we have enough votes inCongress to override a veto. If Clintontried to stop the deployment of anational missile de-fense system, Ithink we couldoverride it. Thecurrent debate, aswe speak, down onthe floor right nowis on theComprehens iveTest Ban Treaty.I’m going downthere as soon as Ihang up. If we can’tdefend ourselveswith a nationalmissile defense sys-tem, which wouldkill a missile on its way over to America,let’s at least keep a nuclear arsenal andtest it periodically. We would be able toknow that it works, and the whole worldwould know that as well. That way, ifsomething should happen, we would beable to retaliate immediately.

Baxter: How long will it take to de-ploy an anti-missile defense system? Twoyears?

Inhofe: If we were to start today, wecould do it in about two and one-halfyears. However, President Clinton isstonewalling it. It depends on when weget started. An educated guess would bethree and one-half years.

Baxter: The uncomfortable thingfrom where I am sitting is this…theTaiwan issue is boiling now. FromChina’s perspective, the best time to act

is before this anti-missile system is inplace.

Inhofe: Yes, I agree with that. Andthere is another dimension to this sce-nario. Let’s say that Saddam Hussein andNorth Korea got together and recognizedthat America, under this President, isone-half the force and strength she wasduring the Persian Gulf War. If theyshould get together and decide to dosomething, we couldn’t handle theground logistics to support the type of aconventional war necessary to defendAmerica. So the threat is beyond just themissile threat.

Baxter: Last question, Senator. Sinceyou have really charged PresidentClinton with high treason in your

speeches, whathas been the re-sponse? And whyis PresidentClinton doingthis? What is theexplanation?

Inhofe: Well, firstof all, his ego andhis ambition. Hehas used hisChinese connec-tions effectivelyto get to where heis and to be re-elected. You know

the source of his illegal campaign contri-butions. He is able to lie with suchincredible conviction. He will look rightinto that camera and say he is for cam-paign finance reform right when he isdisobeying all of the current laws that areon the books and accepting illegal con-tributions himself.

Since the title of your program isPolitics & Religion, let me throw oneother thing in here. Sandy Berger, JoeLockhart and everyone else is lying justas much as President Clinton is. If youread Proverbs 29:12, it says….if a rulerlies, his administration has to lie too.That is what we are going up againstright now. It is not just him. It is his en-tire administration.

Baxter: So this whole thing is built ona set of falsehoods?

Inhofe: It’s all built on lies. ❏

Are Americans Willing to Go toWar?

Forty-three Americans were killed inSomalia, 383 in the Gulf War, 54,000 inKorea, 58,000 in Vietnam and about400,000 in World War II.

Enough already! Americans are notwilling to go through any of this again.

In fact, most everyone within the for-eign policy community believes that theAmerican public will only give its bless-ing to military intervention abroad onone condition: The action must be casu-alty-free. It was therefore a good thingthat there were no American combat fa-talities suffered in Kosovo.

But is this true? Are Americans un-willing to engage in a war in which theyknow there will be heavy casualties?Survey says... Untrue! Americans are notcasualty-shy.

North Carolina’s Triangle Institute forSecurity Studies polled 623 elite militaryofficers, 683 elite civilian leaders, and1,001 from the mass public. The questionasked was, “What would be the highestnumber of American military deaths thatwould be acceptable in order to defendTaiwan against invasion by China?”

Each group came in with acceptabledeath tolls of between 17,000 and 20,000to achieve this goal.

The mass public would be willing tolose up to 30,000 men to preventSaddam Hussein from obtainingweapons of mass destruction.

Buying Down World PopulationOn the coattails of Ted Turner’s $1

billion gift to the population control-ob-sessed United Nations, Bill Gatesrecently donated $8 billion to his philan-thropic organization. Much of it wasearmarked specifically for population andhealth programs.

Not to be outdone, nearly all ofWarren Buffett’s $15 billion fortune hasbeen willed to population control pro-grams upon his death.

The Big KahunaHundreds of “kohanim,” Jewish priests

from the tribe of Levi, met in Jerusalem

in October to learn how to serve in a fu-ture Third Temple.

The Jewish Week newspaper reportedthat this event, sponsored by TheMovement for the Rebuilding of theTemple, was attended by mainstreamrabbis not usually identified with thezealous Temple Mount movements. Thisin itself indicates a major trend changewithin the religious Jewish community.

Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, religion colum-nist for the Jerusalem Post and resident ofthe Jewish settlement of Efrat, attended,but carefully distanced himself with thestatement, “I was in no way, shape, orform, a co-sponsor.”

The event featured seminars about therole of the priests. “A guard of Kohensand Levites will be placed at the gates ofthe Temple Mount in special dress to in-struct those entering the Mount on thespecial religious rules governing visits tothe site,” read a statement from organiz-ers. “The tradition of honoring theTemple Mount will be renewed.”

The gathering was also held to makepublic that the Jewish people are pre-pared, ready and eager “for thecommunion between the people andtheir God.”

This modern-day revival of the“kahuna,” or priestly class is yet anotherevidence that the Third Temple will be asoon reality.

Yeltsin: Back Off! We Still HaveNukes!

Ten years and one month after theCold War ended with the fall of theBerlin Wall, Russian President BorisYeltsin issued a stern warning to the U.S.not to meddle in the Chechen conflict.“Clinton must have forgotten for a mo-ment what Russia is,” warned Yeltsin. “Ithas a full arsenal of nuclear weapons.”

Yeltsin made these remarks while on atrip to Beijing in which he rallied supportfrom Chinese President Jiang Zemin.Jiang greeted Yeltsin in the Russian lan-guage, calling him an “old friend.”

The Chinese, who continuously statethat Taiwan is an internal Chinese mat-ter, are now supporting Russia with the

same phraseology. “The Chechen con-flict,” Jiang warns the West, “is aninternal matter of Russia’s.”

Yeltsin and Jiang denounce the UnitedStates over what they perceive to be anattempt at global domination.

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanovsaid, “Jiang Zemin completely under-stands and fully supports Russia’s actionsin combating terrorism and extremism inChechnya.”

While most Western leaders loudlycondemn Russia’s military campaign inChechnya, talk of sending in UNPeacekeepers has been conspicuouslyquiet.

Yet both Russia and China still ac-knowledge that they depend upon U.S.support for their economies.

China Builds 2nd Missile Base Is China really preparing to take

Taiwan by force or is it all “talk?”According to U.S. Defense

Intelligence Agency reports, China hasjust completed the construction of a sec-ond short-range missile base, this onebeing only 135 miles from Taiwan. Bythe time this magazine goes to press, thebase will already be stocked with missiles.

When asked at a news conferenceabout America’s ability to defendTaiwan, President Clinton completelyavoided the question. The only substan-tive comment he offered was to say thathe feels the tension between the twosides is unnecessary and counterproduc-tive, and he hopes neither side will doanything rash.

The Defense report says that the twonew missile bases allow China “to targetall of Taiwan’s major military bases.”

A high-ranking U.S. military official,who requested anonymity, recently toldEndtime his assessment of the situation inChina. “I’m sorry,” he wrote. “I can’tcomment more than to say that we aresleeping with the enemy.”

As the head over all intelligenceoperations for China, Xiong can behailed in Washington as the man respon-sible for the successful effort to funnelillegal contributions to the 1996Clinton-Gore campaign through JohnnyChung. Another recent accomplishmentwas masterminding the theft of all ofAmerica’s nuclear weapons secrets fromthe National Labs in Los Alamos.

The globetrotting Gen. Xiong was re-cently in North Korea where hesolidified joint ventures between thosetwo countries to sell weapons of mass de-struction to rogue nations in the MiddleEast.

Xiong was also a very integral player inthe 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

Congressman Bashes Proselytizing

U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.)has written a letter calling on theSouthern Baptist Convention to endtheir aggressive campaign to convertHindus.

He wrote, “Your pamphlet has demon-strated a lack of understanding... of theright of every individual to pursue theirreligious beliefs... We would respectfullyrequest that you end your conversioncampaign directed to members of theHindu faith.”

In a related matter, the Council ofReligious Leaders of MetropolitanChicago sent a letter in November to theSouthern Baptist Convention requestingthat they reconsider a plan to bring thou-sands of missionaries to Chicago nextsummer. Members of this interdenomi-national coalition fear that the merepresence of missionaries could spark vio-

lence against Jews, Hindus and Muslims,whom the Southern Baptists have tar-geted for conversion to Christianity.

“While we are confident that your vol-unteers would come with entirelypeaceful intentions, wrote the Council, acampaign of the nature and scope youenvision could contribute to a climateconducive to hate crimes.”

The prophesied day is fast comingwhen religious exclusiveness and prosely-tizing will be hate crimes. Tolerance andcompromise under a Global Ethic will bethe law of the land. Biblical Christianitywill not.
