Various – see individual activity guideline sheets includedThe guidance sheets are written so that each activity can be run by a range of after school clubs with different ages of children, not just those participating in the energy lessons.
The idea of this exercise is to get students to work together to run a public event with stalls, workshops and games to promote energy saving in their local area. The students involved will develop marketing and planning skills. The event can also be used to showcase what they have been doing in their lessons.
Activities can be broken down into the following sections.
Planning Publicity The event After the event
Some ideas are given for tasks which children might take on as part of each section on the separate guidance sheet. Details of some games that the students might like to run are also given.
This activity involves producing practical items which can be used in the home to improve the comfort of the occupants and save some energy. The separate guidance sheet details a few activities, giving full instructions, which can be run as part of an arts and crafts club and/or sewing and textiles club.

ENERGY:EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITY SHEET NO1
This activity involves students producing models or small pieces of kit that can generate energy. The aim is to help students to understand how renewable sources can be used to generate energy and some of the technical and design considerations needed to ensure robustness and efficiency of the kit.
The guidance sheet gives details of how to build 3 models.
These are:
A solar oven A solar powered boat A wind turbine
All of these will require some health and safety considerations with regards to the equipment being used.
