Advent Conspiracy: Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More, Love All
What a special time of year this is, don’t you agree? It is a special season and I am sure we all have our memoriesof years gone by as we encounter the season. I hope you are having a blessed advent that will transition into aspecial Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
It is hard for me to realize I am already celebrating my fourth Advent Season at Padre Serra Parish and what ablessing it has been for me to be a part of your parish family. Everywhere I go I love to talk about Padre Serra andwhat a unique parish it is. I had the good fortune to speak at a conference in the Midwest a few weeks ago thathad parishioners from parishes around the country and attendees were so impressed with what I was able to shareabout Padre Serra Parish. It is easy to take pride in this parish. I hope you find that to be true, too.
As we look forward to the New Year there are a few things I would like to share with you and remind you of. Wehave been very pleased with the response thus far to our new online giving program. No longer do you need toremember your envelopes or your checkbook or scramble for cash as the offering basket reaches your seat inchurch. It is simple and convenient to sign up for online giving just by going to our website (www.padreserra.org)under the first column of information scroll down to the tab for online giving. Click on this tab and follow theinstructions and in a few minutes it is taken care of, easily and safely. Want to make a change later, just log backin and make a change. No need to call the parish or come to the office, you can handle it all from the comfort ofyour home. The online giving program allows you to make your usual offering and also special offerings such asChristmas and other special offerings throughout the year right on the website.
We thank you for your support of our Halloween Gala Fundraiser. It was a great event put together by some greatpeople. Mark your calendars for March 13, 2017 for our Padre Serra St. Patrick’s Day Golf Tournament at LasPosas Country Club. Watch for more information even if you are not a golfer!
We are also very pleased to invite you to a FREE NEW YEAR’S EVE celebration this year. It is a potluck sobring your favorite dish to share. We will have a cash bar for beverages and the parish will furnish freechampagne to toast the New Year. Music and dancing and other enjoyment … for the whole family. The purposeof this year’s New Year’s party is fellowship not fundraising, so come, bring friends and family, and enjoy anaffordable evening of fun and friends. More information to follow so watch the bulletin and our website.
As the calendar year draws to a close I just want to remind you that the parish staff is here for you. Got aquestion? Have a suggestion? Even a complaint? We have a very dedicated staff and a pastoral team that workshard on your behalf every day of the year. How can we help you?
So for the fourth year I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filledwith blessings.
Siempre Adelante,
Alan LienParish Business Manager
