Term 1 ends : Thursday, 9 April, 2020
Term 2 begins : Tuesday, 28 April 2020
Next P & C Meeting Wednesday, 20 May 2020

Relieving Principal: Jane Varcoe
Principal’s Message
This extract is directly from Mark Scott (Secretary) Minister of Education Schools Remain open The health advice on schools is unchanged. It is safe for our schools to be open and continue to operate. However: The decision of an increasing number of families electing to keep their children at home, would have made it exceptionally difficult for teachers to run regular classes while meeting needs of learners at school.
Parents are being supported in their choice to keep their children at home, we believe increasing numbers of parents will choose to do so.
It is vital for the school doors to remain open for parents who are unable to make the choice. Parents who work in our health system, education system, emergency services and other essential works need to be able to access suitable supervision of their child’s learning on school sites.
If you have the capacity to keep your child at home using our take home packs and/or utilising online learning with our Google Classrooms or Class Dojo, please do so.
If children are sick, they are to be kept at home. There is no expectation that if students are sick, that they should complete schoolwork at this time. It is important they rest and recover.
If the Department of Education instructs the school to become nonoperational, we will have provisions to help students learn from home. The class teacher will establish the best means for continued daily contact and the best way to support each student to continue learning. The following link will lead you to our parents’ section of ‘Learning from home’. https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/curriculum/learning-from-home/advice-to-parents-and-carers
Teachers that are unable to work from school will be teaching online from home.
We understand that some families have limited internet data usage which will make things a little more difficult to attend Google Classrooms or Class Dojo online. Students could use as little as approx. 15 mins per day to do an attendance check in with teachers and record any tasks that have been set for the day. Alternatively, all students will be issued school packs today to complete when the internet option isn’t available. These students/parents will need to do regular check ins with the teacher through email or phone contact to maintain attendance records, this will need to take place no longer than every 3 days.
Thank you again for your understanding in these unprecedented times and we are all working together to ensure we keep everyone as safe as possible.

Community Announcements
Basic protective measures against the new Coronavirus
Stay aware of the latest information on the COVID-19 outbreak, available on the WHO website and through your national and local public health authority. Most people who become infected experience mild illness and recover, but it can be more severe for others. Take care of your health and protect others by doing the following:
Wash your hands frequently Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol -based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
Maintain social distancing
Maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
Why? When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
Why? Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.
Practice respiratory hygiene
Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately. Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.
If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority. Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.
Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19. Follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health authority or your employer on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date information on whether COVID-19 is spreading in your area. They are best placed to advise on what people in your area should be doing to protect themselves.
