MILES Learning GmbH is a spin-off from Austria's biggest private education provider

with over 30 years of experience in labour market services, founded by several

ambitious key experts in 2016. MILES is developing and implementing innovative

education and learning concepts focusing on smart education and learning with

technologies. Integral part of all our trainings is a modern, highly modular and cloud

based platform system which allows the deployment of competence-based and

interactive courseware fostering individualized learning experiences and a scalable and

customized use of digital media in all our educations. Programs based on the MILES

education technology primarily aim at the reduction of skill-gaps and qualification

deficits of employees against constantly evolving demands of the labour market.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

So far there are no definite ideas.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Please describe your position in the organisation.

I am responsible for the vocational training of our target groups and a successful

outflow to the regular labour market after the period of vocational training in our own

industrial workplaces . The responsibility includes securing the inflow and selection of

candidates for vocational training and project management to keep the organisation

running.

Please describe your organisation.

Noord-Limburgs Open Atelier owns 5000 m2 production facilities in the north of the

province of Limburg in Belgium . Main activities include packaging , productive and

automated assembling of metal and plastic parts, assembling of wood products and

advanced machine operations for sewing , drilling , metal benching , welding etc….

Our customer portfolio consists of many national and few international commercial

companies.

Our mission is to offer temporarily work experiences for unemployed , low educated

adults and youngsters with eventually no work experience at all (our target groups).

We provide +25 years on-the-floor vocational training for working attitudes and

technical skills in a representative production environment .

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

1. We’re executing activities according our mission for +25 years . We focused all

these years very much on practical attitude training for our target groups . By

using our own production facilities for the subcontracting tasks for many and

divers customers in the make-industry, we were able to offer vocational

training in a very realistic way. Consequently, our success rate for outflow of

labour profiles to the regular job market has always been very high.

Since a couple of years , more and more companies are asking us to support

them with inflow of trained resources . These requests are not only concerning

the development of good working attitudes , but also regarding the practical

development of specific technical skills. Companies are asking us besides low

profile labour profiles, also more qualified technical resources with high school

backgrounds .

Our future mission evolves according these kind of requests from the labour

market . For this we’re developing a cooperation model with schools ,

companies and labour market partners , named ILEC (Industrial learning and

experience centre) . We’ re following the “dual learning” principles (“school on

the work floor”) and aim to offer a complete service for providing technical

skilled resources to companies in our region . Candidates for vocational training

can be low or higher educated . ILEC will be able to coordinate high tech

production equipment design for the make industry in cooperation with high

school partnerships and companies . This equipment can be tested in a try-out

environment , with production testing by means of pilot runs , followed by

mass production and process releases . During these phases , ILEC will offer

vocational training on different skill levels , from high educated engineers till

low educated operators (target groups) . These trained resources are then also

offered for job opportunities within the participating companies in the different

projects.

We are looking for ideas and partnerships which can contribute to the concept

and development of ILEC.

2. We’re currently executing an ESF project , named “workability and inclusion on

regional level” (ESF call 357, project 6289)

This transnational project aims to create and test a cooperation model for

inclusive entrepreneurship on a regional scale . This model will be composed of

a flexible but effective analysis and methodology for the inflow of people from

the target group (low educated adults and youngsters with eventually no work

experience at all) , a practical method of vocational training , and a flexible but

Page 9: ERASMUS+ CONTACT SEMINAR STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS · PDF filee rasmu s + erasmus+ contact seminar strategic partnerships on work based learning in initial and continuous vocational education

8

effective outflow of trained persons to the regional labour market . Gender

neutrality is important in all the phases of this model.

The project is focusing on the make industry (wood, metal, plastics, textile ,

packaging etc…. industry). The project execution time :January 1 , 2017 until

end December 31 , 2019.

The regional employment policy makers , employment agencies and labor

market representatives will be involved and consulted during the project

execution. The project aims to achieve a local and inclusive employment policy

and methodology for disadvantaged people from the target group.

A transnational partner has joined in from the start of the project

(Arbedsformedlingen Sweden). Their knowledge , experiences and good

practices are being analysed and incorporated in the project.

The project result will be transferable to other regions with similar needs .

We’re looking for partners to take part in the elaboration of intermediate or

final project results.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

All organisations who are somehow involved in the process of creating work

opportunities for motivated unemployed persons who experience troubles (or big

troubles) to enter the regular competitive labour market. Especially those

organisations with practical experience with vocational training / coaching on

representative workspaces could be interesting for joined project development .

Organisations who cooperate in a structural way with municipalities regarding regular

employment projects for target groups are also interesting for us.

Besides this we’re looking for organisations which have practical experiences with dual

learning principles and / or can somehow participate in our concept development of

ILEC (for low and high educated profiles)

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

This might well be a consideration for us

internship places and providers and evaluate the internships together with the

students, mentors and responsible teachers.

Please describe your organisation.

Our organisation is a secondary day-school that organises a wide array of study

programs within general and VET-education; Our school has about 3500 students and

400 teachers.

In the course of a whole school year every division and study program within VET

education organises internships in a variety of formats, going from an internship

alternating within a study program, a long-term internship or a combination of both.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

Our school attaches great value to professional further education for internship

counsellors and teachers.

At this contact seminar we would like to exchange thoughts with colleagues from other

schools and companies and develop ideas on work and internship attitude within VET-

education.

We notice that pupils don’t always behave in a suitable and correct manner at school

as well as at the internship working place. We would like to start from this thesis and

from there determine which working attitude is most important to us as teachers and

internship counsellors. We would like to work together on this topic with other

teachers, counsellors and employers.

At school it is absolutely necessary that the students behave polite and respectfully

towards teachers, other students and clients. Also while working at the internship, it is

very important that students show the right attitude so they command it by the time

they graduate. Also employers regard a positive and client-friendly posture as highly

important.

On the one hand, we would like to know from teachers in other schools which attitudes

they teach and how they do it: which methods are used? Which focus points set?...

On the other hand, we also want to broaden our knowledge of already existing

behavioural evaluation tools in so far as they exist: which tools can be used to

evaluate attitudes? Are the existing tools/ schemes/charts efficient?.... Do they

provide sufficient and adequate feedback to students? Can existing tools be refined

and/or adapted so students can make actual progress?....

We would also like to work together with employers: which behavioural elements do

they find important? Which elements do they use to judge students?...

As such, we would like to research the possibility to develop an evaluation tool in

cooperation with other schools and employers which could then be used to evaluate

the students’ behaviour at the end of their secondary career.

By comparing both types of conclusions we hope to get a clear insight into the needs

of each stakeholder and into means to improve professional student behaviour in

school and at the working place, into the methods to teach these attitudes and into

the existence of tools already in use.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

At this seminar I would like to get into contact with colleagues from different schools

and companies all over Europe to exchange ideas on the topic of work- and internship

behaviour within VET-education.

I would also like to meet educators/counsellors that guide the students at their

internship places or mediators from employment companies that recruit unemployed

people through screening of attitudes, competences and experience for possible

internship places.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

external stakeholders like social partners and sectoral organizations. He is also

provided by De Werkplekarchitecten based on market demands and policy choices. He

actively promotes collaboration between Werkplekarchitecten and between De

Werkplekarchitecten and strategic partners or external stakeholders in several working

fields whenever possible.

Please describe your organisation.

Sterpunt Inclusief Ondernemen (word for word literal translation: Starpoint Inclusive

Entrepreneurship) represents and supports the not-for-profit providers of training,

coaching and work-based learning, ‘de Werkplekarchitecten’ (translation: ‘the

Workplace Architects’). We have been active since 1991 and are recognized by the

Flemish government as interlocutor on behalf of the sector. The Workplace Architects

are more than a hundred non-profit-driven organizations that are active on more than

230 locations in Flanders and Brussels.

Together with our members we want to enable job seekers and employees to

sustainable employment. In particular those who have the need for additional support.

With a range of career support tailored to job seekers, employees and employers, our

members provide a significant contribution to the matching between demand and

supply in the labor market and more inclusion in our society and on the labor market.

Our core mission is to support our members in their activities, facilitate and encourage

dialogue, cooperation and exchange of expertise and professionalization..

We support the Workplace Architects in their career support for employers and

individuals with a vulnerable labor market position. We promote the development of

innovative methods and the optimization of existing methods for workplace learning,

training and coaching. We focus on the professionalization of our members at the

organizational level to ensure a qualitative offer of career support in Flanders and

Brussels.

We strive for an inclusive labor market, a labor market in which every citizen of

working age finds a job that matches his talents and where each employer finds the

employee he needs. To this end, we invest in sustainable partnerships and networks

with companies, labor market actors, social partners and governments.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

We are searching potential partners to tackle specific common challenges through

future cooperation within the framework of Erasmus +, following a number of policy

and labor market changes that have an impact on the sector of non-profit-driven

service providers of training, coaching and work-based learning and on the career

support for unemployed citizens in a vulnerable position on the labor market. The

aforementioned policy changes and hot topics include, among others:

• Reforms Dual Learning and the challenges that this brings for business

workplaces, to integrate work-based learning in their corporate culture, management

and business philosophy. These reforms, as they’ll continue and increase in intensity,

will undoubtedly change the business workplace: it will become the new learning

environment of the 21st century and provides confronts companies with various HR

related and other challenges.

• Policy Reforms ‘temporary work experience’ and work-based learning:

strong policy focus on workplace learning (reforms Temporary Work experience,

intensive counseling and mediation to work long-term unemployed through workplace

learning). These reforms challenge us to provide - and to help companies provide

14

themselves - quality workplace learning for (disadvantaged) jobseekers within new

policy frameworks that are being developed.

• Assuring the quality and impact of work-based learning

• Social economy reform: stronger focus on guidance of current social economy

employees towards employment in regular companies. Regular companies will have a

stronger role in the trajectories of these vulnerable people, by providing internships

and employment.

• Inclusive entrepreneurship: Sterpunt Inclusief Ondernemen is looking for

strategic partners to develop further their existing project ideas or develop new

project ideas around these main topics or related topics within a European dimension.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

Sector organizations, not-for-profit organizations active in the field of training, coaching and workplace learning, support centres, public employment agencies, vocational

education and training organizations, universities, social partners

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

Please describe your organisation.

SYNTRA Flanders is responsible for the work placement component of the new Dual

Learning System in Flanders. This means that SYNTRA Flanders coordinates the

recognition of al learning enterprises in the Dual Learning System in Flanders. In this

field, the organization collaborates both with representatives of the different

educational networks and sectoral employer’s organizations, gathering in Sectoral

Partnerships or the Flemish Partnership for Dual Learning.

As the ‘work director dual learning’, it is SYNTRA Flanders' job to help increase the

number of high-quality workplaces, together with the various interested parties. As

director, SYNTRA Flanders has the primary task of creating an appealing framework,

so that more companies and sectors commit to this new story. Naturally, as 'director

of the directors', SYNTRA Flanders does not take over local or regional direction.

SYNTRA Flanders also acts as a go-between to the policy level.

To successfully fulfil this assignment, attention has been devoted to the five following

areas:

Reinforcing the supply of workplaces in quantitative and qualitative terms.

SYNTRA Flanders is entering into partnerships with companies, sectors,

interprofessionals and social partners.

The director also intends to 'guarantee the quality' of the workplaces by, for example,

defining and elaborating upon appropriate criteria.

The director aims to be a future radar for the new dual learning and is keeping its

finger on the pulse within the framework of new developments.

The director is keen to help shape policy.

Moreover, the Agency is responsible for the coordination of the Apprenticeship System

in the whole of Flanders, and of the Entrepreneurial Training System in Flanders. For

both systems, SYNTRA Flanders subsidizes and inspects 5 large regional independent

regional SYNTRA training centers that provide the different training.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

SYNTRA Flanders wants to set up an international collaboration on ‘concepts and

methods for guidance of work placements’, focussing on the learning environment at

the workplace and the actors involved’. This can be done via exchange of information

and experiences and/or the common development of methods and tools for the

training and guidance of mentors in enterprises with learning work placements

(especially within Dual learning).

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

Organisations, experienced in and/or responsible for the work placement component,

preferably in Dual Learning.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

Preferably not: we would opt to be a partner

We are a school with the different types of education. We wish to start this year with a

dual route in electricity. We already have experience with learning at AUDI Brussels.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

I would like to share our cooperation with AUDI with partners as well as our idea of

dual learning.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

It would be nice to get in touch with organizations (associations, companies, schools)

who already have experience with dual learning. Perhaps there is a possibility to work

out a network so that we can visit the site.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

As a director of another school, I have already completed an Erasmus + dossier

regarding job shadowing assignment for new teaching methodology. We visited the

BETT fair in London and were immersed 4 days in the methods of the Finnish

education system.

It is therefore the intention to make the necessary contacts during this seminar so

that we can also develop such a file in the field of duality. Perhaps we can go across

the borders of how the system works there.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

(A) To form a strategic and durable partnership with organisations working in formal

adult education throughout Europe working in/on work based learning in (a kind of)

formal adult education. The partnership could focus on (to be discussed) on, a variety

of problems and challenges we want to tackle :

1) The connection/cooperation between educational institutions (active in formal adult

education) and work (employers, companies, profit and social-profit). Questions to

be tackled:

a) How to build a firm partnership,

b) How to guarantee a growing network of work based learning places

FURTHER INFORMATION

Please describe your position in the organisation.

I am a practical training teacher and a school projects coordinator

Please describe your organisation.

Obrtničko-industrijska škola from town of Imotski is a secondary, vocational school.

It was founded in 1977 . The school is situated in Dalmatia, a famous touristic region

in Croatia. We are about twenty kilometers from the Adriatic sea and about a hundred

kilometers from the county's center, the town of Split. Lots of our students come from

Bosnia and Herzegovina which is only a few kilometers far from our school. Our school

enrolls students from neighbouring towns and villages, as far as 50 kilometres away.

The students in our school get their education in three years. They are aged between

14-17. Also, we have four year's programme for adults.

The students of the following vocations are involved in the educational school process:

hairdressers, drivers, cooks, waiters, plumbers, gas installers, air- condition installers,

car mechanics, car electricians, sale assistants. Since 2012. we have been educating

one group (classroom) of disadvantaged students for cook's assistants.

There are 65 employees in the school, 57 members of the educational staff and 9

members of the administrative staff. All teachers are experts in their sectors. The

number of students varies every year and we have 347 students at the moment.

Our school has been several times a host school for regional and national students

competition, where our students were very successful.

The workshops and other places for a practical training in the school are not quite well

equiped as it should be nowadays. The school management and the teachers do

additional efforts to compensate it. All participants of the educational system are well

aware of the fact that change is a constant factor in today's schooling. We are

determined to incorporate new technologies and methods in our classes. Teaching with

the help of new technologies, in contrast to traditional teaching programs is our vision

for the future. The students are not motivated for learning foreign languages but the

situation has been changing since they have the opportunity to take part in the

mobility projects.

Our project team has experience in implementing EU mobility projects for enhancing

quality and efficiency of the vocational training. So far,we have finished two Leonardo

da Vinci IVT projects, one Erasmus+ project and one Comenius individual in-service

training for teachers.

By taking part in these projects, our teachers and students directly influence teaching

processes in our school.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

I hope that taking part in this contact seminar would be a great opportunity to meet

other teachers or stakeholders in order to develop learning opportunities for our

students that are close to the world of work, especially when it comes to the practical

training of our shop assistants. So far we are not very satisfied with it concerning our

school's needs in improving their practical training in companies. We would like to

improve connections with SME and to give better learning opportuinities within

working contexts.

I consider that there is a lot of space to improve cooperation between world of work

and educational institutions.

Page 29: ERASMUS+ CONTACT SEMINAR STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS · PDF filee rasmu s + erasmus+ contact seminar strategic partnerships on work based learning in initial and continuous vocational education

28

Also, there is a decrease in number of students of these vocations in last few years in

our school, so we hope that this possible project would result in their increased

attractiveness.

We have been approved many projects so far and our students have had a chance in

taking part in those projects. The aims of these projects were improving of our

students' practical skills. As a project coordinator I tried to implement mentioned

vocation in the project and find partners for it but it was difficult.

I hope that this seminar would be a great opportunity to meet people who would find

my idea similar to theirs and to bring a quality project proposal as a result.

I also hope that we can together identify possible future way of cooperation within a

new Erasmus+ project.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

I would like to meet schools representatives and teachers who educate future shop

assistants and have experience in their effective practical training. Also, if possible, I

would like to meet SME representatives and other people from labour market who

receive such students for their practical education in their companies.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

No. We would like to be a partner in a project because we have no experience in KA2

projects.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Please describe your position in the organisation.

I have been working for 20 years as a teacher of economics - related subjects, but also

the Chairperson of the School Board. I mostly teach accounting, business law and other

related subjects. Every year I prepare students for competition in accounting.

Please describe your organisation.

Srednja škola Hrvatski kralj Zvonimir is one of the most important institutions on the

island of Krk, Croatia, as it has provided education for young islanders since 1921 when

the school was founded. Throughout its history of 95 years, the school has undergone

many changes, but has always played a significant role in shaping the island's

development and future.

Today students can choose among three and four-year vocational training (mechanics,

plumbers, cooks and waiters, tourism and economics) or grammar school which gives

them good foundation for college. This year our school has 373 students in 19 classes,

with 53 employees, 44 of which are teachers. There are 8 foreign language teachers for

English, German, Italian and Latin and 27 teachers for vocational subjects. The school

building (5,500 sq.m.) comprises specialised classrooms, two gyms and a playground,

kitchen / restaurant and mechanics training areas. Each classroom is equipped with a

computer, LCD projector and screen. Activites, performances and events take place in

the main hall, library and elsewhere. The surrounding area (15,500 sq.m) has some

fruit trees, an olive grove and a small Mediterranean garden.

Secondary school Hrvatski kralj Zvonimir, Krk, Croatia is the only secondary school on

the island and it continually cooperates with local authorities and business firms.

We are experienced in various environmental projects on the national and European

level. We have also successfully participated in projects promoting our cultural and

historical heritage.

Our students organize a Christmas fair every year at which they present traditional

food and cakes typical for Croatia with the aim of promoting charity fund-raising

events and volunteering. The National Foundation for Civil Society Development

awarded our school in 2014 for volunteering.

In Oct 2015 the county authorities proclaimed our school The Best Secondary School

in the region, based on our activities and results.

Our project Tourism and Social Entrepreneurship was awarded the National and

European Quality Label and the COMET award for the best eTwinning project among

secondary schools.

The European Parliament Information Office organised a competition called My Ideas

For a Better Europe – our students’ videos were awarded with participation in the

Euroscola programme, a simulation of the work of European MPs in Strasbourg, two

years in a row, in 2015 and 2016.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

I hold it important for my school and for my personal development to take part in this

seminar, as I would like to advance my professional competences and implement newly-

acquired skills and knowledge into our vocational programmes. Our school has a range

of vocational programmes for hotel and tourism technicians, cooks, waiters, car

mechanics, plumbers and economic technicians. Our vision is to be a modern, innovative

institution that follows educational trends in Europe and develops in accordance with the

Development Strategy of the Vocational Education System in Croatia. I strongly believe

Page 32: ERASMUS+ CONTACT SEMINAR STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS · PDF filee rasmu s + erasmus+ contact seminar strategic partnerships on work based learning in initial and continuous vocational education

31

that theoretical knowledge must be accompanied by practical skills and competences

required by the labour market. Our students must be employable and well-prepared for

the challenges and needs of their future jobs. Lectures, workshops, an exchange of

experience and good practices with colleagues from other European schools, would help

me position our school within the European framework. It would enable me to

distinguish areas that need to be improved and/or changed, but also confirm areas

where we have been successful.

The Croatian Ministry of Education is planning to introduce dual education in the near

future. On-the-job training that is aligned with the changing needs of the labour market

is essential. I expect to develop contacts, exchange experience and find ways to

implement new practices in work-based learning.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

I would like to meet teachers from business schools and other related areas.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

Yes, but I need more experience.

Please describe your organisation.

Tallinn School of Service offers formal study on gastronomy, baker-confectioner,

catering, hospitality service and sales arrangers for approximately to 800 students.

The approach and provided study possibilities are flexible, students can start their

studies after basic school, high school or practice on the job learning. 2016 year we

had students after basic school (65 %), after seconadary school (35 %). Among them

the work –based learners (9 %).

The school was established in 1946 year.

Tallinn School of Service has been participating in international projects and

competitions over 10 years. It have helped to develop the language skills of the staff

and students as well.

Tallinn School of Service has Erasmus+ Vocational Education and Training Mobility

Charter until year 2020.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

The seminar could be created the links with the schools to be collaborated and find the

ways schools can collaborate with companies - How to find partners, how much and

how they are involved in drawing up the curriculum, how the mentors' awareness of

the content of the curriculum is ensured and how are the assessment and

opportunities quaranteed for students in the company to fulfill all learning outcomes.

In each academic year, students have the opportunity to do one part of their

internships abroad, which broadens their knowledge and creates preconditions for

coping with different environments. In order to organize more flexible studing process,

it would be necessary to create an ECVET system for the sales specialist in the field,

which would give students confidence that their learning experience has been taken

into account abroad. The implementation of the ECVET system would create

opportunities for student mobility and encourage international cooperation. This, in

turn, will provide opportunities for exchanging information and sharing experience with

foreign partners. The ECVET system would be applicable to the sales manager's

profession, since the first-level manager in a trading company performs similar tasks

in different countries.

Thus I am interested to hear different possibilities how other schools are working with

enterprises and how the supervisors are been taught how to evaluate students at

workplace. How they find their partner enterprises and so on.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

Other vocational schools that are providing work based learning. If there are schools

from the same fields, that our school have, it would be very good possibilities to meet

them.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

Yes.

German ministries and always focuses on introducing or enhancing VET structures in

other countries.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

Considering the experience of past project activities in the European Context and the

recent developments in VET, ideas to include companies in VET will be the focus.

In most countries it remains a challenge to involve companies and their financial and

personnel resources to support VET of young people. I would like to generate ideas on

different approaches how this challenge can be tackled on different levels (systemic,

European, national, regional and on micro-level).

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

Please describe your organisation.

The Saxon Education Company for Environmental Protection and Chemical

Occupations Dresden ltd. (SBG) is a private, non-profit educational institution whose

core activity is initial vocational training and further education in the fields of natural

science and technical environmental protection. Being the leading company of training

networks for the above mentioned sectors (chemical industry, pharmacy,

biotechnology, paints and coatings industry ) it cooperates with more than 120

companies from industry and crafts as well as scientific institutions (research institutes

like Max-Planck, Leibniz and Fraunhofer), coordinates vocational qualification for them

and carries out parts of the practical training by itself. As an inter-plant vocational

training centre within the German „dual“ VET system, the SBG is closely cooperating

with the industry and organising the practical training in accordance with its needs.

Learning in the work process is an important educational concept of the SBG. This

ensures that the learners are employable after completing their qualification. Having

various workshops, laboratories and a modern pilot plant, it offers excellent training

conditions for different occupations, ranging from EQF level 2 to 6. Through the

participation in national and European development projects, the SBG is actively

involved in the solution of current VET policy challenges. In these activities, many

trainers are involved. They are networked with teachers from other countries and have

experience in the field of international project work.

We would like to get to know and exchange experience on good practices in work-

based learning with those actors of vocational education which have direct influence

on choosing the practical work placements and organisation of the educational

process. During a strategic partnership project we could find solutions, methods and

ways of cooperation that promotes the cooperation between schools and chambers of

crafts/ commerce to motivate more SMEs, not only big companies to get involved in

the vocational education of young apprentices and trainees. We would like to learn

how we could assist these host companies to offer high quality training which enables

the students to learn all those skills, competences and knowledge that is needed in the

labour market.

During the strategic partnership we would involve our Hungarian network (schools,

SMEs, chambers of crafts) to actively participate in the testing of these good practices.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

Vocational schools / Chambers of crafts and commerce/ SMEs / and other similar

organisations which participate in the organisation, planning and implementation of

the work experience and practical education and training of vocational

students/apprentices in their own countries.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

Please describe your organisation.

The Industrial Engineer is concerned with the development, improvement,

implementation and evaluation of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge,

information, equipment, energy, material and process. In lean manufacturing systems,

Industrial Engineers work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources.

Established in 1955, the IIE is the professional and qualifying body for those involved in Industrial Engineering.

The Institute has affiliations and co-operation agreements with like-minded

organisations in other countries. To enhance the benefits to members the Institute

became a chapter of the American Institute while maintaining its status as an

independent national body. The Institute is a founding member of the World

Confederation of Productivity Sciences. The Institute is recognised by Government,

Unions and Education Organisations in Ireland. The Government has granted the

Institute the right to make a nomination to the Industry and Commerce Panel of the Irish Senate and is often consulted for its input to Government industry white papers.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

The Institute was the lead partner on an Erasmus project called Work Based Learning

in Industrial Engineering (WBL-IE). One of the Outputs of this project was a six step

approach to identifying training needs and delivering learning programmes in the

factory or workplace. During the pilot stages of the project the following areas were

identified for further improvement:

a) Self-assessment tool for identifying training needs at corporate and individual

levels.

b) Further definition of the role of the “Learning Facilitator” – types of facilitators

needed to deliver and assess learning programmes.

c) Accreditation of learners based on learning outcomes observed.

We have discussed the concept of WBL with the government bodies responsible for the

National Framework of Qualifications and the delivery of our apprentices programmes

in Ireland and they are very interested in working with us on this issue.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

We would like to meet educational organisations that have experience in mapping

learning material to the European Framework of Qualification and understand the role

of Facilitation in the delivery of WBL programmes.

Also organisations that have experience in performing training needs analysis at a

strategic and individual level.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

Due to current commitments of the Institute we are not in a position to co-ordinate a

programme – but we sufficient available resources to partake in a suitable

programme.

13600 higher education students had undertaken their placements in LDK member

enterprises.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

Globalised and rapidly changing labour market need a skilled and mobile workforce that

can continuously develop their knowledge and skills. The growing importance of the need

to get a skilled workforce comes at time when global labour market is suffering from high

unemployment in many EU countries. 40 % of European employers report that they are

unable to find the right employees even offering competitive wages.

Learning mobility can be seen as a mean for acquiring new knowledge and skills and

getting international practical experience. Surveys show that international work

experience ranks at the top of all criteria for enterprises. In contrast, workplaces with

integrated practical learning through active work, solving real problems of work, applying

knowledge in practice, acting independently or cooperating with colleagues, monitoring

their activities cannot be found everywhere in Europe and quality assessment for learning

at the workplace in most cases does not exist at all.

The number of VET students increased in the past few years and many of them hope to

be employed after graduation. However, finding a job is seen as a challenge, because

skills mismatch in the EU affects most of workplace. One of the most significant career

choices of VET fresh graduates is the decision to go for VET learning traineeships abroad

for professional qualification improvement in order to be employable and marketable at

the EU labour market. Practical experience shows that VET fresh graduates need

guidance with individual career planning, the construction of professional identity and the

identification and expression of professional competence.

The main objective of the participation in this contact seminar is to initiate the

establishment of a pilot international network of partners acting as Regional Quality

Reference Centers that would be able to promote the learning mobility of VET fresh

graduates, provide guidance with individual career planning and ensure the quality of

their learning at workplaces in host organizations.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

During the contact seminar I would like to meet with potential business associations and

VET institutions:

- having experience in the international VET fresh graduates learning mobility;

- able to discuss best practices and raise awareness of the challenges at European level

on the VET fresh graduates learning mobility;

- interested in acting as Regional Quality Reference Center of Learning at the Workplace;

- ready to be involved in the preparation of Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership application.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

ARNO is organization for Social Innovation established (August 2013) in the

Macedonian civil landscape with special mission of development and implementation of

social innovation and promotion of new options and contemporary technological

approaches for society change.

Our mission: ARNO develops and supports social innovation through design of new

options in digital creativity and diverse social initiatives, which are developed by

active, independent citizens that act jointly and contribute towards community

development and positive changes.

Our vision: Shaping the future by sharing our resources and discovering new

approaches.

ARNO is organization with vision, talent, energy and resources to be the creative

source for improvement of the communities we live in. We have organizational values

and attitudes that promote and sustain innovation:

- expectation of a deep understanding of complex social issues

- culture of innovation

- partnering

Implemented projects belong to the fields of: promotion of Social Entrepreneurship,

support of Green Business Ideas (Regional Contest), youth advocacy, IT for social

change, creative civic initiatives; Our work has been supported by international and

local donors: The Rockefellers Brothers Fund (USA), UNFPA (Regional EECARO Office),

UNDP (Macedonia), Social Impact Award etc. ARNO is member of the Macedonian

National Youth Council, Y-PEER Macedonia and local platforms that unite CSO actors

and stakeholders.

In regards to VET and Social Innovation: Our organization has 4 years partnership

with the Macedonian State Vocational School on gastronomy and tourism -SUGS

"Lazar Tanev". Within our partnership and designed initiatives we explore ways and

innovative practices to: motivate the students from the school to excel in their

careers, to ensure better transition for the students to the labor market, to build their

skills and employability level for first job experiences, to raise awareness on

importance of high quality VET, to lobby and advocate for innovative and modernized

curricumlum in VET, to raise general public awareness of ET potentials and market

needs. As an NGO we combine the two strategic fields of VET and Social

Entrepreneruship to tackle social problems. With the State School we have great

results and we are recognized by the national insitutions as succes story.

Our work (the projects done in partnership with the school) has been published as

case study in the book " Innovation and Entrepreneurship" published by the Ministry of

Education in Macedonia and the Minsitry of Labor and Social Policy uses our project as

example of social entrepreneurship and meaningful efforts in the field of VET and

youth employability.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

We have many ideas how we can connect regions and EU countries in the field of VET

and social entrepreneurship. Our ideas go beyond bilateral partnerships. For example

our Coolinary project united many VET schools and promoted many social actors as

important actors in social change: the aprons were designed and crafted by the State

VET Textile School, the wooden spoons were crafted by the students from State VET

School that has department for wood carving. They were all used as promotional

material that was further marketed and the entire income was reinvested in the

mission of the project (Program tailored for the student needs to enter the labor

market).

At the Contact Seminar we will be sharing our inspirational stories but we would like to

also develop other ideas on the spot, and use the opportunity to meet other creative

minds and people that are devoted to the work in these sectors in order to find a way

to cooperate and initiate new Erasmus+ project partnerships.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

At this phase of our organizational development it's important for us to connect with

like-minded organizations, institutions, schools and potential partners (we are

searching for partners across EU) in order to scale our work and expand the scope of

our activities. We see our participation as beneficial both for our contact making needs

but also we are willing to share our implemented initiatives. As organization we have

laser-sharp focus on innovation and we have experience in design and launch of IT

products that merge both VET and social entrepreneurship. We would like to share our

example- design of web pages for the State School and mobile application for recipes

and catering and see how we can build on this experience. We also have ground-

breaking story on offline activity-we were the first in the country to organize Cooking

Classes. The Cooking Classes were awarded with Social Impact Award and are

recognized as great example of partnership of NGO and VET school.

We are in search of VET schools ( Gastronomy Schools, Textile Schools, Woodcraft

Schools) and Institutions and Organization that work in the field of youth, tackling

youth unemployment, promotion of Social Entrepreneurship, solving social problems

with innovative approaches.

Would you like to co-ordinate a future Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership?

Yes. We have ongoing Erasmus+ Project where we have the role of Coordinator.

2016-1-MK01-KA201-021698 -

Our project (Students Today-Responsible Entrepreneurs Tomorrow) focuses on

delivering tailored programs for promotion of Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate

Social Responsibility to high school students in the three respective countries

(Macedonia, Croatia and Lithuania)in partnership with NGO from Brussels/Belgium.

The project is centered on the idea of building future generations of responsible

leaders which is urgent topic at international discussions.

programs for adults. Scalda has about 9.000 students in all parts of the province of

the above mentioned programs.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

The project idea is about a creating learning space between VET and companies, based

on real assignments for students. In this learning space students and teachers work on

real assignments from companies. This is an innovation we work on, for the Technical

and ICT - VET education. The reason we do this is especially because we can see

professions change, and become crossovers between ICT and other technical

professions. New skills and the modern practice in companies need to become reality

in VET education for students and teachers alike. We seek especially partners in the

field of wind – energy.

Please describe your position in the organisation.

I am, presently, an EFL teacher, at the Liceul Tehnologic Sebes. I’ve been teaching

English and, at times, Geography at this technological high school, former known as a

school of trade and crafts, since 2005. Last year, I was put in charge , as a ’diriginta-

form teacher, to look after a class of 9th grade cooks , aged 14-15. I have experience

only with Comenius training for teachers. In 2013, I was offered a grant for a course

in Exeter, Devon, UK, so as to improve my English, and also, participated in a

Grundtvig workshop in Malvern, UK, in 2015. I have tried to modify , to adapt and

adjust, my teaching and the curricula so as to teach students an English specific to

their profile/domain. I have included and have done online projects, pen pal letter and

gifts exchange with students from 3 continents, in order to help them do a better job

when at the training place, either practising as waiters or as cook helpers. Having

more experience with VET and Erasmus +, participating in seminars, courses and

creating partneships, I would definitely be able to offer more to my students ,the

teachers, the school, to the town itself and the community.

Please describe your organisation.

Liceul Tehnologic Sebes, is a public institution of education, established in 1995, in the

town of Sebes, county of Alba, Transylvania, Romania. Our town of Sebes, former

known as Muhlbach, is part of the Siebenburgen, with several international companies

opened in the town, in the fields of leather and textiles (Italian investors), mechanics

andmechatronics (STC Daimler Mercedes), wood processing ( Kronospan-Austrian

investors) and several restaurants and hotels.

The high school was known, in the past, as a school of trade and crafts.

It has about 800 students enrolled, at different profiles , such as mechatronics,

accounting, commerce, tourism and services, textiles, carpentry, mechanics, cooks

and bakers. The ages of the students rage from 14 to 19. Every school year, the high

school, also offers adult education, when courses are done in the evenings.

The students, in addition to theoretical education, do practical training activities, both

in the school’s workshops and at economic agents, that collaborate and cooperate with

our school.

Training them targets both areas of tradition in Sebes - woodworking, light industry

(textiles and leather), industrial chemistry and relatively new fields, but in full

development: services, electromechanics or mechatronics.

The unfolding of the training- educational process, in the best possible conditions, in

the school , is generated through cooperation with the Local Council. with the

economic agents and other educational institutions from the Sebes area, known as

having zero unemployment. This collaboration aims to educate and train qualified

labor forces, consistent with the market requests, thus creating the prerequisites for a

rapid integration of the school graduates within the labor market.

A few years ago, a kindergarden together with an elementary and secondary school

(gymnasium) were united to our high school. There are step by step and after school

classes offered , too.

Although it is a young school Liceul Tehnologic Sebes became a valued school , both

in the city and in the county. Certainly, the efforts of all school employees - teachers,

support staff and non teaching personnel - will not stop here, the common goal being

to offer all our future students, a modern education, complying with the standards

imposed by the third millennium.

Please describe your organisation.

The Technical College of Transports and Constructions Iasi was founded on 1

September 2013 following the merger of Technical College of Transports with High

School "Anghel Saligny" and includes four forms of education, high school - direct

route, evening high school - route progressive, professional (vocational) school and

Postgraduate School (auto mechanic and foreman) .

Our institution is a secondary school vocational Iaşi, where students come from across

the NE region. There are almost 1000 students, 68 teachers, 38 auxiliary personnel.

Besides the school building, there are also 2 student hostels, a refectory, a gym hall

and the school workshops. In the main building, there are 36 classrooms including

technical labs, gym and two outdoor sports. We created a Mediatech room for

videoconference, European projects. In the present, our school offers courses in the

electrics, transports, communications, constructions , informatics fields, fixed electric

traction equipment. School aims to offer students specialized training in the field of

transport: road, rail, air. After each level they pass an exam and receive a

professional certificate. It is important that, on the basis of agreements with

businesses, school students do practical training in production. Our institution has

received from the Ministry of Education, the title of European school. In addition, in

2011 we were evaluated by ARACIP - Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in

School Education, and we received a certificate by rating „very good” as a result of

education quality assessment at school level, according to benchmarks and indicators

for performance. We are accredited for 14 specialties and qualifications in

technological chain.

Affiliations, association at school level: Association of students with legal personality

"Euroferoviarii"(Eurorail), Development Foundation pre university railway education –

with legal personality, Founding members of the sports 'Railway men'

School priorities: Developing students professional and social competences at

European level, Socio professional insertion, Lifelong learning, Promoting the

education according to the European values thus helping the students to become

"European citizens", Involving the parents in education, Reduce school drop and

phenomenon of violence , promoting the activities for environment protection.

We conducted several socio psychological studies on absenteeism, dropout, bulling

and violence, and together with partners from the School Inspectorate, Iasi Police,

Gendarmerie, and the Parents Council, we have implemented several projects with

different topics. After the implementation of the Comenius Regio project "Let's share

our problems", students with special needs (attention deficit, with violent, from single

parent families, marginalized) were counseled, the support to attend post-secondary,

and have competencies and skills a certain qualification".

Having in mind the promotion of the European values, the Technical College of

Transports and Constructions Iasi –Romania got involved into many activities,

European projects ( LLP, Daphne, Civil Protection, Justice, Grundtvig, Phare, Leonardo

da Vinci) that contributed to the self knowledge process, observance of rules and

developing relations, and also to the tolerant behavior towards success and failure.

Realizing and piloting of a web-based coaching platform for young people aged 17 to

19, for their future professional development , for managing their own lives and to

achieve a decent existence (qualification, employment, accommodation, good health ,

education) and professional development. So, it’s necessary a modern and performing

management with European experience.

Please describe the ideas you want to develop during this contact seminar.

I would be interested in setting up the implementation framework and working with

the economic agent-how it works dual education at European level? More than that, I

am interested in finding a solution for our students to have professional skills and

abilities comparable at European level to a particular profession. I wish to create a

base with information about labor market, job psychograma at European level, offers

for different qualifications, etc. I want to propose in a future project a moodle platform

for E-blended approach in Transports , an experimentation of dual education for

European transport on four axis: air, road, rail and naval based on partnership with

transport operators. (Workshops, laboratories, teaching and practice at the economic

agent using the team- teaching method: expert /specialist-teacher ).

Other important points that I would like to consider in the project: - study of European

legislation on the insertion of young people into the labor market (contracts, jobs,

offers, etc.), comparison of curricula, qualifications, diplomas and certificates obtained

at European level, analyzing the psychograms for different trades in the field of

transports, the conditions of professional training provided by the economic agents,

the selection of students for employment, practical evaluations, etc. An important

priority is the responsibility of the pupils for their career and for their own formation

and development, which also involves finding solutions for motivating students,

choosing a job and integrating into the labor market.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

Vocational high schools, Inspectorates, Businesses, firms and companies that have

students in practice, entrepreneurial departments

Please describe your organisation.

Our vocational training college is one of the leading schools in our region. It caters for

the needs of the would-be professional and the unemployed. One of its main functions

is to serve the needs of local businesses. It offers training in a wide range of fields

related to the industrial sector and the growing sports and fitness sector.

We are responsible for the administrative management of calls for the Accreditation of

Prior Learning and Competence, as well as acting as a board of accreditation.

It also provides training for unemployed workers in association with the Aragonese

Bureau of Employment.

Our school is mainly targeted to students holding a General Certificate of Secondary

Education willing to undertake EQF level 4 vocational training, as well as to students

holding a Baccalaureate Certificate who want to do EQF level 5 vocational training.

Unemployed workers are also one of our main concerns, as we provide training in

different industrial sectors, depending on the needs of local enterprises.

As regards the vocational training diplomas we provide, they are related to the

industrial and to the sports and recreation sectors. Following is an inventory of the

diplomas we offer:

Electrical and Automated Systems (on-campus and e-learning courses) (EQF

level 4)

Electromechanical Maintenance of Industrial Systems (EQF level 4)

Chemistry Laboratory Operations and Techniques (EQF level 4)

Construction Projects (EQF level 5)

Telecommunications and Computer Systems (EQF level 5)

Energy Efficiency and Solar Water Heating Systems (EQF level 5)

Renewable Energy (EQF level 5)

Installation and Maintenance of Heating and Cooling Systems (EQF level 5)

Chemistry Analysis and Quality Control Laboratory (EQF level 5)

Sports and Recreation (EFQ level 5)

Football Coaching (EFQ levels 3 and 4)

During the 2016/2017 school year we had 380 students enrolled in our institution. At

present, we are going through the enrolment process and we expect to significantly

increase that figure.

We have a wide experience in European programmes: we have been involved in

Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci and Erasmus+ programmes since 2008. We have also

taken part in student and teacher exchanges within the cross-border cooperation

Pyremov programme, which links Aragón with Aquitaine and Midi Pyréneés in France.

We hold an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, which allows us to establish

relationships with vocational training and higher education institutions from all over

Europe.

Our school has experienced an ever increasing interest in European programmes on

the part of our students: we had an average of four mobilities up until 2014, but in

2014 we arranged seven mobilities, in 2015 ten, in 2016 eight , and we are currently

arranging 8 mobilities for 2017.

Setting up a network of partners to exchange work placements and internships under

the Erasmus+ Programme.

Discussing the possibility of creating a website and/or an app that allows stakeholders

to get in touch, in order to exchange work placements, traineeships or internships,

especially focused on VET providers. The idea is to create a powerful tool similar to E-

Twinning, but specifically devoted to VET providers.

What kind of organisations would you like to meet during this contact seminar?

Vocational training institutions with a focus on the industrial sector: electricity;

engineering; chemistry and quality control; construction; telecommunications and IT;

renewable energy; heating and cooling systems.
