Written in Sand and StoneTwo friends were walking through the desert and got into an argument. One friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying any-thing, wrote in the sand: “Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”They kept walking until they found an oasis. Thirsty, they stopped for water. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire, fell in, and started drowning. His friend saved him.That evening, he wrote on a stone, “Today my best friend saved my life.”The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now you write on a stone. Why?”He replied: “When someone hurts us we should write it in sand where the winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must en-grave it in stone where it will long be remembered.”Learn to write your hurts in sand and carve your benefits in stone. Someone observed that it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire lifetime to forget them.

Jack Hilliard, Deryl Hilliard’s father, is recovering from a heart attack.Rusty Wamble, Tim and Thelma Hemby’s grandson, is at home recovering from back surgery.

Kenton Lancaster, from the Grand Junction congregation, is hospi-talized.

Harry Shelly, Barbara Naylor’s brother-in-law, has serious health problems.

Ethan Myers, Melanie Malone’s brother and the Thornthwaites’ son-in-law, is now at home and improving.

Adam Archambault has a multi-cystic mass on his thyroid but it is NOT cancerous. He will visit with a surgeon March 25 to schedule surgery.

Edward Holloway, Glenda Stanley’s father, is now at home and on hospice care because of congestive heart failure.

Pay-Down-Debt SundayMarch 30

March 30th is the fifth Sunday of the month of March. The elders want to continue the practice of a special collec-tion on the fifth Sundays for the express purpose of paying down the debt on the building renovation note. The response was good at the end of December. $6,796.25 was donated and was paid directly on the principal of the debt.
