1987 - 90 Advanced Technology Design Ltd., Bristol. Manager, Stress Engineering

Responsible for all aspects of stress analysis and structural design within the company. Projects included designs of complete small gas turbine demonstrators for Rolls-Royce, airframe components for British Aerospace and stress analysis consultancy on other projects including large composite structures, tank vehicle gearboxes and powerplant fuel pump assemblies.

1985 - 87 SAC Technology Ltd., Bristol. Stress Engineer

Stressing of metallic/composite airframes and power plant components using traditional and computational techniques. Lead stress engineer on MTU ducted propfan project. Member of design stress team for Fokker F100 aileron, shroud and flap-track structure.

Finite element modelling, stress analysis and structural design. Projects included Rapier missile mobile launch vehicle.

MoD sponsored research on the structural applications of carbon fibre composites.
