E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTIAL

This is an American science fiction film directed in 1982 by Steven Spielberg.It tells the story of a boy, Thomas and his brother and sister, who make friends with an alien called E.T., and protect him from scientists and government officers who want to take him away.

E.T. is a very ugly alien. He has a big head with two big eyes and a flat nose. He is not very tall but he can make his neck as long as he wants. He is quite fat and he has got short thick legs and big feet. He walks with difficulty.E.T. is very intelligent. Soon he learns to talk and finds a way to communicate with his people.His first words are “BE GOOD” and “PHONE HOME”.He also has special powers. His long index finger becomes bright red and he can cure injuries and bring dead flowers back to life.

MAIN CHARACTER

Elliot and his brother Michael and his sister Gertie live with his mother in a quiet neighbourhood. Their parents have recently got divorced and they are not very happy. The children help E.T. to make contact with the spaceship to go home.

E.T. builds a communicator using a can, and old record player and an electronic game to learn how to spell words.

You can tell this is a 1982 film because the technology and the special effects are a little bit old fashioned. The spaceship that takes E.T. away is not very impressive.

My favourite scene in the film is at the end when there is a big police chase. Elliot and his friends are riding their bikes to go to the forest, so that E.T. can meet his family and police cars are crashing into each other. At one point the police has blocked the road, but the E.T. works his magic and Elliot and his friends start to fly.
