I challenged Hip-Hop genre characteristic of women being represents assexual objects as I wanted my artist to be portrayed as a strong independentyoung woman, acknowledged for her music rather than her assets. In the twophotos of my artist that I considered using for my album cover she can beseen in similar poses. I took this photos in this way as I felt that they portrayedmy artist as a respected, independent and confident which is exactly how Iwanted her to come across. 3. I gave my artist the same look throughout creating my mediaproduct. I styled her hair in the same way for both my photo-shoot and music video, and kept her make up simple with anemphasised lip. In both my digipak and music video my artistcan be seen at eye level camera. This links to the notion oflooking to build a relationship with the artist. I also filmed andtook photos against a plain background as this draws focus tothe artist. My artist can also be seen wearing the same dress inthe video that as the one she is wearing on the the albumcover and digipak. As it is common knowledge amongst fans that Nicki Minajoften refers to herself as Barbie, I decided to slightly alter thecolour of my artists dress on my album cover from red to pinkto link to this. This makes my album cover easily recognisableto fans as a Nicki Minaj album. The colour pink also links tothe consistent theme of bright fun colours throughout myvideo, which were used to portray my artist as happy, youngand carefree.
