    Our Google Course Builder experience

    We began with GCB because it was easy to start with

    Made for developers, not for teachers

    Teachers need heavy support from IT services

    Python development skills required Cheap

    Tied to Google: accounts, videos in Youtube (no SPOCs)

    Our MiriadaX experience

    Developed by Telefonica using Liferay. Designed for MOOC.

    Let you use videos from Youtube or upload them, incorporate html only pagesand activities (a,b,c quizzes or P2P) and it had its forums and teacher interface.

    Its major drawback at the time we used it (first half of 2013) was the verylow usability for teachers. Limited options for activities

    Peer to peer activities very problematic. For instance It was impossible to workwith mathematical formulas without making a tedious image cut and paste

    Impossible to download student data

    So, in summary, we think that the version of MiriadaX we used should be

    considered a beta edition, with many things to solve (even as some of themwere solved during the courses).

    Course dissemination is much better in a bigger platform

    We had some problems with rights agreements between the three partiesinvolved: teachers, university and MiriadaX

    So at the end

    We are quite happy with the results of our MOOCprogram in 2013

    You will achieve different enrollment depending on the

    platform that you use We are migrating to OpenEdx for our 2014 MOOCs

    and we will tell you @EMOOCs 2015 ;-)
