TOOLING SOFTWAREIndustry 4.0 has become standard practice at WILA. During Fabtech, WILA will be showcasing

its revolutionary developments in the field of tooling software. This automation initiative

significantly reduces response time and fully digitalizes the chain between end users and

the production process.

Press brake and sheet material specifications can

be entered into the Tool Advisor in advance. These

specifications are used by the Tool Advisor to

select appropriate standard tools or offer the

opportunity to personally design a special tool.

Also, the required part profile can be quickly and

easily drawn in 2D and the Tool Advisor will select

appropriate tools for the profile or allow the design

of needed special tools. Price and delivery time are

shown immediately (also for specials) and it is also

possible to place an order.

When capital investment is high, productivity

must increase for acceptable Return On

Investment (ROI). Critical factors are, for example:

flexibility, complexity and change-over times

because of the wide variety of products, low

volume per batch and the complexity of

number of bends per product. Furthermore, it’s

important to control the process throughout.

WILA makes it possible to bend small batches

of various products fully automatically with the

Automated Tool Change (ATC)-Gripper, ATC

Tooling and Storage System. In combination

with WILA’s Tooling Identification and

Positioning System (TIPS)* the tooling set-up in

the press brake is no longer the limiting factor

in the variety of parts that can be formed

entirely unmanned.

WEBSHOP

AUTOMATION

The WILA TIPS system is an integrated part of

the press brake control system and supports

tooling identification and continuous monitoring

of tooling position. In any position in an upper

clamping, lower clamping or storage system,

tooling can be located and identified. Due to

the very precise recognition of the tools, the

TIPS system indicates if the correct tool is being

used, if the length of the tool is correct, and

what should be the exact position of the tool

in the clamping system. With this detailed

information both errors and test bends can

be avoided, resulting in a substantial increase

in productivity.

TIPSTooling Identification and Positioning System

WILA introduces New Standard Premium Tool

Holders for top and bottom Tooling, based

upon a unique –patented– Self-Locking

clamping mechanism. Tools are clamped

using air pressure. The main advantage of

this approach is that tools can be clamped

and unclamped extremely fast. Tool

segments are clamped and positioned

individually using clamping pins, which are,

in turn, controlled via special plungers.

This unique system further increases the

speed of tool changes and results in

significant increases in productivity. These

Self-Locking New Standard Premium Clamping

Systems (NSCL-II-SL/UPB) as well as the New

Standard Premium Bottom Tool Holders

(OB-II-SL/UPB) are especially well suited for

smaller - often electrical - press brakes and

press brakes with automatic tools change (ATC).
