October 27, 2011Free-to-air Disney Channel in RussiaThe Walt Disney Company and UTH Russia announce that the two companies will launch an ad-supported free-to-air Disney Channel in Russia. The broadly-distributed channel will feature Disney’s popular signature programming, as well as original Russian content. The channel launched December 31, 2011.

October 7, 2011Disney’s Board of Directors Extends Contract to 2016 for Robert A. Iger Disney’s Board of Directors announces an extension of Bob Iger’s contract through June 2016 as part of

the company’s ongoing succession planning. Iger assumed the role of Chairman in addition to Chief Executive Officer following Chairman John E. Pepper’s retirement from the board at Disney’s 2012 annual shareholder meeting.

New President of Disney Consumer ProductsRobert Chapek is named President of Disney Consumer Products. August 27, 2009A&E Television Networks Acquires Lifetime Entertainment ServicesDisney-ABC Television Group, Hearst Corporation and NBC Universal announce an agreement for A&E Television Networks to acquire Lifetime Entertainment Services. The merger was finalized on September 15, 2009. Prior to the merger Disney owned 37.5% of A&E and 50% of Lifetime.
