A glance at the faculty of DentistryOctober 6 UniversityThe pioneer of private university education since its establishment according to the

presidential decree number 243 for the year 1996. October 6 University is a member inthe Association of Arab Universities since 1997.

The faculty of dentistry was established in the year 1998. Ten batches of a diversestudent body Egyptians and non-Egyptians especially Arabs have already graduated till theacademic year 2011-2012.

Graduates of the faculty of dentistry October 6 University now work for differentdental institutions world wide and they are all known for their outstanding academicknowledge and clinical skills.

The faculty of dentistry October 6 University is located in the October 6 Universityacademic and therapeutic hospital. The faculty was established according to the lateststandards and is fully equipped with the latest German technology.

All the degrees awarded by the university are approved and accredited by the SupremeCouncil of Universities of Egypt.Vision of the faculty of dentistry

The mission of the Faculty of Dentistry is to prepare graduates able to provide competent dental care through

For a student to attend to the final exams he has to submit the practicaland clinical requirements

The student has to complete 167 credit hours 10 out of which areobligatory faculty requirements and 7 hours for elective courses.

A student is allowed to register for 12 and up to 20 credit hours persemester according to his/ her GPA

During summer courses the student is only allowed to register in only 25%of the total credit hours allowed per semester.

For a student to pass an exam he/she has to obtain 60% of the total gradesuch the written exam grade is not less than 30% of the total grade.

A student is banned from attending to the final exam if his/her attendanceis less than 70% of the practical sessions per semester.

Methods of assessment of course work is dictated by the faculty council.

Medical excuses No medical excuses from private clinics or hospitals are accepted. Medical excuses can be submitted during the exams. No medical excuses are accepted after the results are accredited Medical excuses are submitted to the dean of faculty and is reviewed by the

authorized medical committee and then accredited by the dean of faculty or hisdeputy.Suspension

A student’s registration can be suspended for 2 successive years for studentswith accepted medical excuses from the faculty council with fees of 10% of the full fees forthe first year and 25% of the full fees for the second year.Housing There is a 4 star hostel for girl students with the capacity of 262 single and doublerooms. All of which are air conditioned.

There is a 4 star hostel for boy students with the capacity of 231 single and double rooms.All of which are air conditioned - in 4 stars category.Youth Care ServicesThe youth care service department is mainly concerned with the student union electionsand many other activities such as:

Receiving the new students Medical convoys Symposia on different occasions Cultural and religious tournaments between the different faculties Forming the sports teams A sports day every Thursday Yearly chess tournament Theatrical teams and tournaments

Playgrounds, Courts and YardsEducational and administrative buildings in O6U occupy (49500) square meter

representing (28%) out of the total area of the university campus whereas the rest of thearea (72%) is dedicated to greenery and playgrounds that means 14 square meter isallocated to each student.

Regular maintenance of the greenery and playgrounds is carried out that they arealways in an excellent condition.

The campus contains fields and courts for basketball, handball, football and tennis.

Health careStudents are offered full medical insurance through the fully equipped clinics and

the more complex cases are always referred to the university hospital that is alsolocated inside the campus.

The academic and therapeutic hospital - with the capacity of 320 beds – equipped with up-to-date equipments and has advanced outpatient clinics offering all medical services in all the majorsand subspecialties including open heart, intensive care, coronary artery care, catheter ofinterfering heart arteries in addition to the departments of artificial kidney, radiology andemergency department that works round the clock.Transportation

The university provides 80 buses to serve students and employees to commute betweendifferent districts of Greater Cairo.Social solidarity

The university offers donations, scholarships as well as loans to students ondifferent occasions.The mall
