o AstheIsraeliteswereslavesinEgypt,GodwasalreadyworkingoutHisgloriousplantodeliverthem.HechoseMosestobetheonetoleadthemoutoftheirslavery.GodprovidedMoses'brotherAarontocomealongandspeaktoPharaohwithhim.MosesandAaronapproachedPharaohandpresentedaseeminglyridiculousrequest:"Letmypeoplego."SincetheIsraeliteswerethemajorworkforceinEgypt,Pharaohrealizedthatlettingthemgowouldputahalttoanyworkinhiskingdom.Pharaoh'sresponsewasno.However,GodwasdeterminedtodisplayHispowerandtoredeemHispeople.GodbroughtgreatplaguesupontheEgyptians,demonstratingHissovereigntyoverallcreationandallpeople—evenEgyptiankings. Describewhateachoftheseplaguesmighthavebeenlike:

EachplagueputEgyptinanincreasinglydesperatesituation.ThelastplaguetemporarilybrokePharaoh’sresolve.Whilegrievingforhiseldestson,PharaohfinallylettheIsraelitesgo.
o Exodus12:30‐42;14:5‐31o Oftentimes,itishardforustoseethebigpicture.AstheIsraeliteswereworkingasslavesforyearsandyears,they
likelydidnotfeelthattheywereexperiencingthegoodnessofGod.Itwaseasyduringthosetimestoforgetthattherewasabiggerstoryatwork.GodhadmoreinmindfortheIsraelites.TheIsraelites’timeinslaverywasonlyatinyportionofthegrandstorythatGodbeganatcreationandwillultimatelyfinishinthelastdays.Thisistrulyastoryofourredemptionand,moreimportantly,adisplayofHisglory.TheBottomLine:GoddisplayedHisgoodnessandHisgreatnessastheOnewhodeliversHispeoplefromslavery,apictureoftheslaveryHewoulddeliverusfromthroughChristintheNewTestament.ByHisgraceandinHispower,HedeliversusfromdarknessandbringsusintoHislight.Questions:HowwasthisstoryadisplayofGod'sgoodness?HowdidGoddisplayHisgoodnessandfaithfulnesseventhroughtheplagues?WhatisanareainyourlifethatyouarewaitingforGodtoshowHisfaithfulness?

WechosethissongforthisweekbecauseGodisworthyofourpraisenomatterourcircumstances.ThesituationthatGod’speoplewereinduringtheirslaveryinEgyptisaprimeexample.Godwasstillsovereign,andHewasstillgoodeventhroughtheirsuffering.Evenindifficulttimes,weknowthatHeissovereignandthatHecaresforus.He

Remember, these suggestions are intended to help parents facilitate God‐centered discussions with theirchildren. Parents should prayerfully use these suggestions, and any other means necessary, to help their childrendiscoverthetruthsofGod’sWordandworshipHimtogether.

followingquestions:o Howcanthisbikehelmetprotectyou?Isitgoodtowearabikehelmettokeepyoufromgettinghurt?Whatkindof
protectioncanthiscoatprovide?Isitagoodideatowearacoatonareallycoldday?Canyouseehowalloftheseitemsaremadetohelpprotectusfromsomethingthatcouldbeharmful?
o Justliketherearemanydifferentitemsthatcanprotectusfromharm,didyouknowthatpeoplecouldalsoprotectusfromharm?(Example:firemen,policemen)It’sgoodtohavefiremenandpolicementohelpuswhenweneedthem.

knowthatHeisgood.HealsohasaplanforusjustlikehedidforMosesandtheHebrewpeople.HeprotectedthemfromalloftheplaguesandrescuedthemfromthePharaohking.
o Godlovesussomuch,HesentHissonJesustorescueus,too.Notfromanevilking,butfromthepowerofoursin.WhatagoodandgreatGod.

o GoddisplayedHisgoodnessandglorybysendingthetenplagues.HeusedtheseplaguesandHisservantMosestosetHispeoplefreefromslavery.GodshowedthatHeistheonlyonewhocoulddeliverthemfromslaveryanddarknessintoHislight.
o GodwouldonedaysendHisSontotheearthtofreeusfromslavery.NotfromslaveryunderanevilPharaohbutslaveryfromthepowerofsin.Whenwewerepowerlesstofreeourselvesfromsin,ChristwenttothecrosstobringusfromspiritualdarknessintoHisgreatlight.
