Question: When did you first start crossdressing?

Answer: My mother and sister expected another girl in the family, and so I spent my first two years or so in dresses. After that, my sister would sometimes dress me as a little girl (I liked this very much), but this activity was stopped when I started school, at the age of five. My feelings lay dormant after that for a few years, until I started to ‘borrow’ items of clothing in secret from my mother’s and sister’s wardrobes.

Question: Describe your early experiences dressing as a girl.

Answer: I can remember suddenly deciding to try on a pair of my mother’s thick winter tights one day, when I was alone in the house. I think I was ten years old. It felt so wonderful! After that I just couldn’t stop! I would dress up every chance I had! My mother owned a couple of wigs, which I loved trying on, and both she and my sister had a lot of gorgeous old-fashioned lingerie. I was in TGirl heaven!

Question: If you had your choice, what do like wearing the mostwhen being a girl?

Answer: Sensuous chiffon! Either a long evening dress, so Ican feel it swirling around me - or a mini dress, to show off a bitof leg! I also love the current skintight bodycon fashions, and

anything outrageously femme - such as layers of petticoats or apuffball prom dress.

Question: Do you have a website and/or email you’d like to sharewith us?

Answer: You can find more of my pictures at:http://www.flickr.com/photos/rebecca_george/And I can be e-mailed at:[email protected]

Question: At what age did you start using make-up and wearing wigs? How did you learn how to apply make up? Any tips for other TGirls? Brand of make up you use?

Answer: I first wore a wig (my mother’s!) at the age of ten or eleven. I first used make-up when I was in my late teens. I am still learning how to apply make-up for the best results! I think we TGirls need to be as expert as we possibly can about beauty products, because they can do so much for us. I first learned toapply make-up from supportive girlfriends, by reading fashion magazines, and in more recent years from the vast amount of information available on the internet. The two most important tips I ever picked up were: (1) learn to blend everything together, and (2) find a shade for your foundation that works effectively withyour hair colour. Being a redhead, I use the Max Factor ‘Golden’range - although I also experiment sometimes with whiter tones to achieve a more dramatic contrast between face and hair. I have grey-green eyes, so these can be either contrasted with a blue, silver or bronze eye-shadow, or else blended-in by using a complementary shade of grey-green in the arch of the eyelid. I have rather full lips, and I like to emphasize these by using a dark red lipstick, with lots of additional lip-gloss.

Question: Now a bit of personal information ... What is your marital status? A sensitive area for some girls, but ... how old are you now? Does anyone know you are a TGirl? What country do you live in?

Answer: I am happily married, but I don’t think it is polite to ask a lady’s age!! However, I do post pics in the Flickr “Over 40s CD”photogroup!! A select group of people know about my TGirlpersona, but it is not something I share with everyone. I have lived in a number of different countries, but I was born in the UK and that is where I now reside.

Question: Have you ever gone out as a girl? If so, tell us what the first time is like and how you feel being out in the world as a girl.

Answer: My first time out as a girl was when I was about 22 years of age – at an informal preliminary round of the Miss Alternate UK Beauty Contest! My g-girlfriends helped me glam up for the event, and I won second prize!! It felt very natural to be walking the streets in a dress and heels, but this was in a University town, and everyone was used to seeing alternative forms of dress. I have never run into any problems, but then again I go out dressed very seldom compared with many other TGirls.

Question: Have you ever gone through a purge of your female clothing? If so, can you tell us why? How did it make you feel? How long before you went back to being a girl?

Answer: Yes, more than once. At the time, I was involved in a very non-supportive relationship. I felt unhappy and guilty about my dressing, and I also very isolated - with no-one around who understood and in whom I could confide. I think the purges were followed by about six months or so of abstinence. Twenty years ago I owned the most gorgeous orange satin slip with coffee-coloured lace trim – I wish I hadn’t got rid of that!

Question: What percentage of time do you spend as a girl?

Answer: Not as much as I would like! I like to do a dress-up with full make-up at least once a week, but I can’t always manage this.

Question: Have you ever considered moving towards becoming more of a girl physically with options like hormones, feminization surgery, breast enhancements, or SRS?

Answer: I used to dream about doing this when I was very young, when I first heard that such options existed. But I have now come to accept that I am a TGirl in the sense that I am a transsexual rather than a Transgendered person.

Question: Do you feel more like a boy or a girl now and why?

Answer: I feel like a girl when I dress as a girl... and vice versa. This is not a superficial thing. When I am dressed as a girl, mypersonality, body language and tactile senses all undergo a radical change. I become a different person – I become

Rebecca George.

Question: Do you have any advice for other TGirls, especially ones that have yet to venture out as a girl?

Answer: Once you understand and accept yourself, external problems can all be dealt with one at a time. Lots of good experiences will come to you. Bad experiences, unfortunately, will also happen from time to time, but if you have an inner belief in who you are and your right to choose your own identity, then these experiences will pass and you will be undeterred by them. Be kind to yourself! Treasure the good experiences, try to forget the bad.

Question: How is your life now as a TGirl? What's gone well and not so well?

Answer: The good: I am thrilled by the friends that I have made through this website and others like it. I would not have struggled in the past with my self-esteem and would not have made those purges which I mentioned if the internet had been around 25 years ago. Bad? Not much of that to report at the present time...

Question: Have you ever dated or wanted to date another TGirl or a man?

Answer: Yes!

Question: Anything else you'd like to say?

Answer: We TGirls have become a much more organised and supportive community, but we still face prejudice and even hostility from society at large. Go at your own pace. Take control. The world is full of people who want you to conform to their agenda. Enjoy being a girl and don’t shrink from your impulses, but do also follow your instincts and don’t rush into anything before you feel truly ready for it. It’s your life, and you can make the TGirl part of it as big or as small a feature of it as you wish to....

Several days after I ended my last article, I was dressed and getting ready to go leave the house for my electrolysis appointment, when I became extremely dizzy and photophobic (everything got really bright and I had a hard time seeing.) I knew what was happening – my BP had dropped. I drank 2 glasses of water with a teaspoon of salt in each one and lay down for a couple of minutes. When I got back up, I felt a little better, so I drove my self to theemergency room at the hospital. My BP on arrival to the ER was 70/40. It was probably lower that that when I first got dizzy. The

nurse that checked me in as well as the nurse and t he doctor that took care of me had not yet met “Barbara” until then. I w as treated like any other patient in the ER, with dignity and concern. I received a liter of NACL IV and had some blood work drawn (which was no rmal)). In talking with the doctor, I found out he was very accepting of me as he had a daughter living in Atlanta who was gay. After I lef t the hospital, I followed up with my doctor who took me off my lasix but left my other BP med in place. The following Friday, I went to Savannah to a Chris tmas luncheon at Candler Hospital. It was given by the hospital for the Alumni of the Nursing School, which had graduated its last class in 1968. (I was in the class of 1967 and one of 3 males in the history of the school.) Most of those present at the luncheon knew Bill (some of the older ones did not remember me or the fact that there were 3 male graduates). I am the only one of the 3 that ever attends any of the Alum ni functions. On this day, after talking with the President of the Alumni association, I showed up dressed in black slacks, a white top with a Christmas sweater vest, black low heels and silver Christmas jewelry. I introduced the ladies to Barbara. I received a lot of compliments and several of the ladies remarked that now they understood the androg ynous look I presented on numerous occasions in the past when I went to functions as “Bill”. There were no stares, strange looks, or si de remarks. The luncheon went very well and the food was good (roas t

beef, mash potatoes, vegetables, salad and pie). O f note, when I stopped to buy gas in the Boro before going to Savan nah, I pulled in to the station and had a flat tire at the pump. As I got out of the car to change the tire, this nice young man came to this “ damsels” rescue and changed the tire for me. I thanked him and gave hi m $5.00, as it was wet, windy and COLD. After the luncheon, I went to Goodyear and had the tire fixed. From there I went to SAMS before going home and did some shopping for the nail shop as they were opening a n ew shop in Springfield, GA.Sunday, I over slept as I forgot to set my alarm, s o when I did get up and have my bath, I put on a new pants suit I had p urchased frommetrostyle. It was light green and I wore silver j ewelry with it and black low heels. I went to church with my son as I had missed the service at my church. After church, I changed cloth s and spent the rest of the afternoon at the nail salon. On Monday, I w as up at 5 am and headed to Dublin, GA at 615 am for my appointment a t the VA hospital. I was dressed androgynously. About 2 weeks ago, I ha d written thehospital administrator to find out what the policy was for treating transgendered patients. I referred to the policy fr om the VA Hospital in Boston, MA, which had no problems treating TG pa tients. I had not heard back from him when I left home. While I was in with the doctor, he floored me with a question when we were just abo ut done. He asked me if I had any recent sexual reassignment surgery. Of course I was quite honest with him and told him no, but I did te ll him that I enjoyed dressing as a female. I even went so far as to sho w my pictures from a year ago and the one I had taken 3 weeks ago in Atl anta. I also told him about my double life and that I had decided to live one life and that I was 24/7. I guess the way I was dressed coupled wi th the remark made by my orthopedic doctor back in July in his office not e (which I had sent to Dr Moti), he figured it all out. I asked him if this would affect my care at the VA and his remark was not as far as he was concerned. He then said he would see me in 6 months. From there , I want to Beall’sand bought a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt slacks and 3 tops before going home. An hour after I got home Barbara appeared a nd was out the door for the rest of the afternoon. (Of note, FYI, Monda y was the 21st of December, which was also the 3rd anniversary of my wife’s passing.)

On Christmas Day, I went to Savannah in my “bubba” m ode to have Christmas dinner with my son and his girl friend. S he had her girls thus the bubba mode ass they are 6 years old. My son ga ve her a ring that morning, but they have not set a date for the weddi ng as yet… On the 26th, I spent the day at the nail salon and we were extremely busy. Apparently of the 8 salons in the Boro, they were t he only one open. And it was packed all day. When I got home, there was a letter from the VA but not the one I was waiting on. It was a copy of my visit from the 21st of December. Under physical exam, the doctor s tated – Patient is a cross-dresser. It also stated Effeminate appearing gentleman in no acute distress, cooperative for routine exam. Thus, it i s official now in my medical record there at the VA that I am a cross-dr esser. There fore as stated above, I plan to go to my next visit in June or July en femme. New Years eve after the salon closed, I was invited over to one of the Vietnamese homes to eat and celebrate the New Year with the rest of the staff. The main course of the meal was Vietnamese Pancakes (crepes) filled with bits of pork, chicken, beef and shrimp along with onions and bean sprouts. The crepes were wrapped in lettuce le aves with mint and dipped in fish sauce. It was actually quite good. At mid night, we popped 2 bottles of champagne, wished each other a Happy New Year and by 1230 am this girl was home in bed. On the second, I received a total of 5 emails from the lady who would not talk to me but would send an occasional email. (She and my wife were very close before LaGail died.) She though she had a stroke and went to the ER to f ind out that she had Bells Palsy as the entire right side of her face wa s numb. I figured that she might finally want to talk due to the numb er of emails that she had sent me, so I went to her house. I was right a s we talked for well over an hour. We talked about her diagnosis and the n she vented all the feelings that she had carried about my changes, as she did not understand. I answered her questions as truthfully as possible. When I left, she gave me a big hug, told me how nice and c omfortable I looked and that we needed to get together again soon.

On Monday afternoon I received a phone call from th e security office at the VA in Dublin responding to my letter from Decem ber. Although there was not a written policy concerning the treatment o f TG patients, I was to be afforded the same courtesy and treatment as a ny other patient there for care. If I had any problems at all, I was to report them to the security office and they would take care of it. Thus, my next appointment in June or July will be en femme!!! Th ursday morning found me on my way to Atlanta for a cold, cold Sig Eps week end. I arrived in Atlanta at 1:15 and by 3:00 it was snowing. At 4:0 0 pm I got to my brothers and at 7:00 we went to the Roxx café for sup per. Friday we I got up there was about an inch of snow on the groun d and the roads were icy. I got my hair done at the Topaz Salon on Ches hirebridge road, went to the Lebelle Nail supply to pick up 2 nail station s for the shop at home. By noon, Heather, Lori and I were on our way to Perimeter Mall for lunch and some shopping. (Phoebe was busy getti ng her mom home from the hospital and met up with the rest of the group at the hotel.) Friday night, 15 of us went out to Mimmi’s restauran t near perimeter mall for dinner. We had 3 new comers, Carla, Patri cia and Maxie (a GG) with us. We also had one other wife with us. Satur day, after the support meeting, there was a general meeting of the members ship present and a number of items were discussed over pizza, wh ich was paid for by the “kitty”. After that, while the board met in an other room to discuss some of the issues, there was a Mary Kay rep. that came and demonstrated the art of makeup to the members. About 7 pm appro ximately 18 or 20 of us went tot the Hudson Grill at Perimeter Mall for supper. There were 4 wives and one significant other with us. Sunday, I headed back to the Boro.

Tuesday evening found me headed to Savannah for a S AMS (ScottishAmerican Military Society) meeting. I was wearing a red sweater with black slacks and black boots and a red leather jack et. After the meeting, I talked with a couple of the wives that c ame and nothing was said about how I was dressed, every one was very fr iendly. When I got home the was a message on my machine from one of th e professors at GA Southern ask me if I would like to participate in a class she teaches on Psychology of Gender. I called her and told her I would be delighted. Wednesday morning found me at my bank getting some papers filled out to transfer some stock. Although I have not given the lady my name, she looked at me and asked if I was Barbara. (Hummmmm) Of course I said yes. She was a member of the Pilot Club.

I am the newest member and will be attending my fir st meeting next week as Barbara (my wife was a member years ago and I we nt with her a s Bill.) She told me how nice I looked (I just had my hair d one) and that she had no problem knowing about my history. Thursday nigh t I went to a special Lions Club zone meeting. There were 8 of us present and I introduced them to Barbara. They all thought I was a GG and I left it at that. When I got home, there was a letter from the VA Hos pital reconfirming what I had been told by the security office concern ing my style of dress.

It is now the middle of January and I have covers m y exploits for basically a month now. If I wait much longer and c ontinuing adding to this it could be 3 or 4 pages by the end of the mon th. Thus I have chosen to end it here before our EIC (Editor In Chi ef) takes her trusty scissors and cut it to shreds. So with that, I wis h every one a Happy Valentines Day for February the 14th……….

Hello, ladies! It’s February, the month of love. Spring is just around the corner, but we have a little bit more of the co ldness to deal with first. I hope everyone’s January found them safe, well, and able to be beautiful; mine certainly has been that way!

I’ve collected a whole new batch of tips and tricks for you this month. This is the first month in awhile that I’ve had no reader inputs, alas! Please remember that my inbox is always open at [email protected] . I love hearing from you all!

All right, on with the column!

I always have issues with my lashes. They just don ’t curl all that well! Here’s a trick I’ve found that really helps. Heat your curler for a few seconds with a hair dryer, then curl your lashes. Apply waterproof mascara. The waterproof stuff dries qui cker, before your lashes can uncurl, and the wax in the mascara will hold the curlthroughout the day.

+++I’ve started using this quality check when I go sho pping for clothing. When trying on a jacket or a blouse (or a t-shirt, for that matter), lift up the arms and take a look at the ‘stress sea ms’; these are the places where the clothing wears the most. If the s titching looks off or there’s puckering or loosening, it’s not such great quality and you’ll see rips over time.

+++Do you feel better when you’re dressed up? I know I do! Well, a recent study says that a little primping is good for your self-esteem. Even if all you’re doing is going to the grocery store, tak e a moment to take care of yourself. Put on a touch of lipstick, wear a different outfit, or, for the girls who are in stealth mode, slide on you favorite femme lingerie under the boy stuff.

+++Another way to feel better is to browse the stores. Even if not buying anything, just the act of looking can increase your happiness. And if you happen to find a bargain, that sense of ‘well d one!’ will boost your mood immensely, and carry over into the rest of the day.

+++This tip is something that a lot of people don’t do and should. Before you shower, remember to brush and detangle your hai r. Even if you have short hair, this helps free any grease, oil, or dir t that might be on your scalp. You’ll notice the difference after sho wering!

+++When shaving your body, the best time to this is wi thin the first 5-10 minutes of getting in the shower. Your skin and ha ir is soft from the heat and steam, but your skin isn’t yet swollen fro m the heat. This allows for a better, closer shave.

Pearls are back! But the trendy way to wear them n ow is to mix pearls with metals, like a nice gold link chain or a silve r strand. Lots of chains mixed together are popular also.

+++Cool water, that is. In fact, this may be the perfe ct cure for dandruff. Why? A hot shampoo can strip the natural oils from your scalp, leaving you with flakes. Cool water, on the other hand, clo ses the pores on the scalp, preventing the problem. Try this: Wash your hair with water that's lukewarm or cool, not hot, and avoid alcohol -based styling products, which dry the scalp even more. If your pr oblem persists, see a dermatologist to rule out seborrhea or psoriasis.

+++I recently had to educate yet another girlfriend on the proper ways to treat your makeup. So, here’s an oldie-but-goodie tip, reprinted for your approval:“Old cosmetics do more than take up drawer space; t hey could contain germs and microbes. A good rule of thumb is to thro w anything out if it doesn't look or smell right. Discoloration, a bad s mell, unusual flecks, or a change in consistency are signs a product is g oing bad.Be most careful with products used for the eyes. If you get a cut near or in the eye and contaminated makeup gets in, it c ould create a serious health risk, even blindness.Throw out any cosmetics older than a year, especial ly eye makeup. The most perishable items are preservative-free product s, but anything that hasn't been opened will last longer. To keep your cosmetics in good condition, store the m away from light and heat, and keep containers closed tightly. Don't sof ten and recondition old products with saliva, and don't share makeup wi th others.”Learn it…love it…LIVE IT! Your face will thank you .

+++Don't start brushing your hair right when you get o ut of the shower. Get out the majority of the tangles with your fingers o r a wide toothed comb first. The best time to start brushing is when your hair is about 80% dry Don't start brushing until your fingers go thro ugh your hair easily without hitting tangles.

+++If your nylons, stockings or pantyhose, are looking a little light in places, you can make them all one color and save so me money at the same time. Make a mixture of one quart of water with a h alf cup of vinegar. Bring this to a boil with the nylons in it, and the n let them simmer for about fifteen minutes. This will even out the color and your nylons, stockings & pantyhose will look great!

Hats are making a comeback in fashion. Here are a few hints for finding the best one for you.- If you have a longer face, look for hats with curl ed or floppy brims. A beret will look especially nice!- If you have a round face, try a hat that's wider t han your face -fedoras with high brims and angular shapes will loo k great on you!- If you're petite, try a cloche! This bell-shaped hat has a small brim and low crown, so it won't overpower your small fra me.-If you're tall or curvy, hats with full brims or p om-poms will add balance to your shape.

+++If you’d like to add some color or shine to your li ght brown or blonde hair without using harsh chemicals, here’s a natura l recipe that I found in an old book. Brew a VERY strong cup of chamomil e tea. Spray or comb the tea through your DRY hair. If possible, sit in the sun for awhile afterwards, to use the sun’s heat as an active agen t. Leave the tea on for 20 minutes, shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Thi s will give subtle highlights to blonde hair and light brown hair. If anyone tries this, I’d really appreciate it if y ou’d drop me a line. I’m curious to know how well it works.

+++Are you about to go out and notice you’ve scuffed y our new leather shoes? Try this: apply a small dollop of hand loti on to the scuff. Not only does it work especially well on the tips of po inty shoes, but you can make your shoes last longer by keeping the leat her soft and supple.

+++Cheap workout equipment! Yeah, I thought the word cheap would be an attention-getter. Well, here it is: use water bott les or soup cans (full, of course) for convenient hand-weights. You can keep your arms in shape by lifting these items, just as you would the expensive stuff that you’ll find in the sporting goods section.

+++It's not difficult to a salon-style blowout on your own -- it just takes a little extra time. Using a round or paddle brush, separate outsections of wet hair one at a time and dry them ind ividually. It takes a little time to focus on each section, but it's wort h it!

+++Here’s a nifty cure for those unwanted and annoying little spots thatseem to develop on the skin. Cut a lemon wedge and hold it directly on spot for ten minutes. Rinse with warm water. Repea t this step every day until the spots lighten or vanish altogether!

+++If your makeup sponge has started to shred at the e dges, smell odd, or lose its original shape, it's time to replace it. W ashing them regularly with plain soap and allowing them to air-dry helps the sponge last longer; however, they should still be replaced on a regular basis.

+++We all know that the more concealer you use, the bet ter certain flaws are hidden. Unfortunately, that also means more co ncealer is visible. Here’s a way to get better coverage without looking too thick. Blend it on your hand with your fingertip first. The heat o f your palm will warm the makeup, and allows it to spread more smoothly. Of course, make sure that your hand is clean and dry first, to avoid spr eading bacteria.

+++Skirts that are especially short or especially long tend to be unflattering on taller women. Rather than tucking i n shirts and blouses, wear them over skirts or pants. Wide belts are very flattering and very fashionable, but tight ones should be avoided at al l costs.

+++On the subject of belts, here are a few more rules of thumb.- Wide, hip-slung belts are the most flattering on e veryone. - Skinny belts work only on skinny women, but they'r e a great way to show off a slim waist or hips if you've got 'em. - Don't buckle on the last hole! You should wear a b elt on one of the middle holes. If you can't, it's the wrong size. - Don't wear a low-slung belt with a tucked-in shirt . Either let a big shirt hang out and slip the belt over it or wear a top that stops a few inches above the belt. - Keep your hardware consistent: silver belt buckle with silver jewelry, etc. - If you're wearing a long rope belt or one with a d angling tassel, the dangling part should hang to one side.

We're a transgender (GLBT, TG) friendly boutique. Our store is located in Las Vegas, NV, USA, where Amy and her staff provide products and personalized services to help you become "The Person You Always Wanted To Be". The Just You Family have years of experience transforming men into beautiful women.

Amy: Amy was the manager of GB2 and is now the owner. She is a GG and a wonderful supporter of TG girls of all varieties. She has a wealth of

experience with amateurs and professionals and is a tremendous talent with makeup. She is one those special angels sent to help us. I will ask her if she

would like to write an article for a future magazine.

Sheila: For my part I simply look after her website as the webmistress. Perhaps at some time I could also write an article (something I have done from time to time). I do want to say that you have done a

wonderful job with the magazine and I look forward to reading the July issue.
