The Model for Healthy Living-Medical, part 2

Church and Health partnership: We need to know we are not fighting this fight alone. In knowing this, it will hopefully help increase our faith. God is here to help you with your fight. The Patient Side of the Partnership: Doctor visits can be a challenge. What can you do to help your relationship with your doctor?

• Prepare- Know your family history. Your provider will have a better understanding of you as an individual and provide you with the best possible care. Prior to your visit, prepare a brief list of questions to ask.

• Speak-up- Your provider needs to hear all your worries and questions.

• Be Honest- Don’t hide embarrassing symptoms. Your provider can’t treat what they aren’t aware of.

• Listen- Ask your doctor to repeat anything you don’t understand.

• Double Check- Make sure all your questions have been answered.

• Back-up-take someone with you to the appointment.

The healing hand of God can touch us and our physicians, as they join together to confront the dilemma of disease, the mysteries of medicine and the hope of healing.

American Lutheran kindly heads up Love INC’s Personal Care GAP ministry. GAP Ministries were created

to fill service gaps in the community. There was no place for people to go to receive personal care items, so Love INC stepped forward to fill that gap. Clients and every member of their family with confirmed needs (as verified though our Clearinghouse by checking with the county and other social service agencies) are able to receive a care package filled with these personal care items.

The personal care storage closet needs replenishing! You can bring your donations to the American Lutheran church office at any time. Items needed include:

Shampoo, conditioner, deodorant (men and women), toothpaste, body wash, lotion, brushes and combs, band aids and other first aid items, Kleenex, toilet paper and shaving cream. Shoebox-sized plastic boxes to hold the items for the clients would also be great.

Your participation in this ministry means so much to Love INC and to your Neighbors in Need in our community. Thank you so very much.

It is time to PLAY hard and PRAY harder!

Kindness is like “Sugar” it makes life taste a little sweeter.

McFarland, USA, is based on the inspiring true story of underdogs tri-umphing over tremendous obstacles.

This heartwarming drama follows novice runners who strive to build a cross-country team under Coach Jim White in their predominantly Latino high school. Everyone has a lot to learn about each other, but when

Coach realizes the boys’ exceptional running ability, things change. Be-yond their talents, it’s the power of family, commitment to each other

and work ethic that transform them into champions—helping them

achieve their own American dream.
