New volunteer training is scheduled forSaturday, February 27th from 9 am to 12 pmat the Jones County Extension office. All newvolunteers must complete this training withinthe first year of becoming a volunteer with theJones County Extension Office.

It is that time of year where we realize fair is quicklyapproaching! During this month I challenge each ofyou to work on a static project, send a homemadecard to a loved one for Valentine's Day, and take sometime to focus on your personal wellbeing for yourhealth for better living. As we don't know what thefuture holds or what type of fair we will have I ask youto look at the positives that came out of 2020 andthink about how we can move forward for a positive2021!

Swine weigh-in is scheduled for Saturday, April 10that the Jones County Fairgrounds. We will need to
follow certain COVID-19 protocols that will be sentout through 4hOnline closer to weigh-in. On-farm
visits can be scheduled by contacting Lowell orcalling the office to receive his contact information.

Sheep and Goat weigh-in will be held onSaturday, April 24th at the Jones County
Fairgrounds. We will need to follow certainCOVID-19 protocols that will be sent out
through 4hOnline closer to weigh-in.
YQCA certifications are due by July 1, 2021 for those 4-H & FFA exhibitors wanting to show the following livestock species at the Great Jones County Fair
or the Iowa State Fair. Take YQCA online at http://yqca.org/. Make sure to log on usingyour 4hOnline information. Online training cost $12 annually per youth.

Jones County 4-H Scholarships
If you are currently a Jones County 4-H and/or FFA member, a high school senior andare planning to continue your post-secondary education, you may qualify for one of the
Jones County 4-H scholarships.
Jones County 4-H and the Jones County 4-H Blue Ribbon Fund has again combinedefforts to support scholarships for graduating high school seniors that are 4-H and/or
FFA members. Thanks to the generosity of the Varlyn and Jane Fink family, the 4-HLeadership and Community Service Scholarship is being offered for the seventh year.We would also like to thank the family of Joe Legg for offering the Joe Legg Memorial
Leadership Scholarship for the second year.

The selection of the winners will be based on the written application and letters ofreference. Two letter of reference are required. One of these needs to come from a 4-H
Leader or FFA Advisor. All components of the application are due to the Jones CountyExtension and Outreach office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021.

National 4-H Agri-Science Summit Application Open
The National 4-H Agri-Science Summit will take place virtually March 5-7, 2021, andis a great opportunity for youth to learn about agri-science careers and discusscurrent issues in agriculture. The State 4-H Office will support a team of youth.

Jones County Cattlemen's Scholarship
January's Clover Kid theme was called
"Lots of Layers".
Youth learned about what a layer and collageare. Clover Kid members got to make their very
owe pizza collage. During our zoom meetingyouth got to share their pizza collage with thegroup and discuss how they made it and whattoppings they put on their pizza's. Then we got
our groove on dancing to the "Pizza ManDance"! We finished the meeting learning the
4-H pledge and the hand gestures that aredone with it!
