Introduction

Christmas is fast approaching and our development teams have been creating magic in the Sainsbury’s kitchens to develop a magnificent range of festive food and drink, that will delight our customers over the festive season. By tapping into food trends, adding twists to our traditional offering and using on trend flavours such as gin, pomegranate and Prosecco, we’re confident we’ll impress our customers with our Christmas selection.

We know that our customers are continuing to prioritise Christmas entertaining with family and friends as much as the main meal on the big day, and many of them are going the extra mile to make hosting at home a special occasion to share with loved ones. Our parties are becoming more premium, with magnificent spreads inspired by flavours from around the globe, toasted over a home-made cocktail and finished with a show stopping dessert such as our Taste the Difference Sicilian Lemon & Passion Fruit Snowflake Bombe or our by Sainsbury’s Rudy the Reindeer Hidden Chocolate Cake, a winner for family gatherings. To help hosts plan ahead or have something in the freezer for those unexpected guests, our party food selection means that, there’s plenty to choose from at great value.

We also recognise for many, the highlight of Christmas Day is spending time around the table enjoying a feast with family. Our extensive range of delicious poultry and game means that we have centrepieces to suit every size of table, and feed any number of guests. And for those tasked with filling stockings, our gifting selection is the perfect solution for even those hard to buy for friends and family. With these festive family rituals, we understand the importance of passing traditions down from one generation to the next, as well as making new ones along the way. By adding innovative

twists to our classic Christmas centrepieces, or indulging in a combination of festive favourites with our Taste the Difference Stollen Flavour Mince Tarts (why choose between the two when you can have both!), we’re making it easier for customers to share and enjoy new traditions together.

It goes without saying that the quality and provenance of our food and drink underpins our Christmas ranges. All our salmon comes from RSPCA-assured Scottish farms and our delicious 30-day aged joint of West County beef has been reared and finished within the six counties of the South West.

We also know that many of our customers are choosing to have alternatives to the traditional turkey at Christmas and we’ve got something for everyone! Our range of indulgent vegetarian and vegan centrepieces, including our Taste the Difference Cauliflower Cheese En-Croute and Taste the Difference Festive Jewelled Squash & Red Pepper Pilaf with Pomegranate & Cranberry Glaze are truly delicious for the whole family to enjoy. Method:

1) Pre-heat your toastie machine to 150C (alternatively, you can use a frying pan)

2) Spread 2 tsp of chutney onto one piece of bread per toastie

3) Top with the sliced Truffle Cheddar and gammon

4) Close the sandwiches with the other pieces of bread and butter the outside on both sides

5) Place into the toastie machine and press down

6) Toast the sandwiches for a few minutes until golden and oozing

Method:

1) Thoroughly spray the inside of the martini glass all over with edible gold glitter.

2) Pour the vodka, coffee liqueur and espresso into a cocktail shaker. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice.

3) Put the other half of the shaker on top and give it a good tap to lock it in, then shake vigorously.

4) Once shaken, tap the side of the shaker to break the vacuum seal. Place the strainer on top of the shaker and pour the contents through a sieve directly into the glass. Using the strainer and the sieve helps create a rich, smooth, froth.

5) The glitter on the walls of the glass will swirl into the martini and create a gold marble effect. Garnish with 3 gold coffee beans.

Cocktail - Espresso Martini (Serves 1)

Produced exclusively for Sainsbury’s by Gabrielle Boudier (founded in 1874), our new range of cocktail ingredients includes sumptuous hazelnut, coffee and chocolate liqueurs, as well as the classics like Crème de Cassis and Crème De Pêche Peach Liqueur. Available in 35cl bottles, hosting at home is now as special as a night out, but without the premium price tag.
