4 Fibre Rope
Dyneema® the Worlds Strongest Fibre™Specific Gravity - .97 Melt Point - 144-152°C Tenacity - 30gpdDyneema® Fibre is one of the more common high performance fibre available on the market . Its high strength and low elongation and light weight make it the ideal braid for sheets, guys and control lines . It has excellent chemical resistance and UV resistance, although it tends to have a cover over the dyneema core, generally polyester, to increase its working life . The Dyneema® SK75, SK78 and SK90 yarn is the strongest fibre in our current range . Negatives in using Dyneema® are the slippery nature of the fibre and the tendency to creep, i .e . elongation under a prolonged load .
Nylon (Polymide)Specific Gravity - 1 .14 Melt Point - 250°C Tenacity - 8 .9gpdNylon has a higher strength than polyester but also has more elongation . It tends to be used for fixed applications such as mooring lines or sea anchors . It has excellent abrasion resistance but tends to harden as the rope gets more worn . It can also be dyed using acid dyes .
PolypropyleneSpecific Gravity - .91 Melt Point - 165°C Tenacity - 7 .8gpdPolypropylene is a light weight material that is used throughout the marine industry for rescue lines and anything else that requires a light weight floating rope . Its abrasion resistance is not equal to polyester and other yarns but it is UV stabilised . It has excellent chemical resistance and does not retain water . It is good as a multi-purpose rope but loses strength under heavy shock loads, it can be used for rescue lines and other general purpose uses .
Polyester (Terylene, Dacron)Specific Gravity - 1 .38 Melt Point - 260°C Tenacity - 8 .5gpdPolyester is the most commonly used material in our range . It is also available in a wide range of colours and weights, the most common weights are 250, 500, 1,000 & 1,500 denier . It is resistant to UV rays and all colours are colourfast . Prolonged exposure in water has little or no lasting effects . It has good abrasion resistance, especially when twisted . However it can not be dyed using normal dyeing methods . It has low stretch and used in all 5 & 6 series, sash cords, luff cords, HJ series and yacht braids; it is suitable for Halyards, Sheets, Reefing lines and Control lines on cruising boats .
Vectran™Specific Gravity - 1 .41 Melt Point - 330°C Tenacity - 23gpdVectran™ is a high performance fibre that is specifically designed for fixed load applications . It has a very high melting point and can withstand extreme temperatures, its high strength, low elongation and very low creep makes it ideal for Halyards . It has excellent cut resistance and has low moisture absorption . Its UV stability is poor, however its abrasion and cut resistance is much superior to polyester and it is used in extreme performance yacht braid covers .

Polypropylene rope has nearly twice the strength of Manila rope of same size . The rope has positive buoyancy(floats), doesn’t absorb water, and doesn’t decay . It’s resistant to acid, alkali and most chemicals . When not in use, the rope should be stored away from direct sun-light . Recommended usages are mooring, dock and anchor line, boat life-line, tarpaulin line, tent tiedown, pool barrier line, public utility and general use in home, farm and industry .

DYNAMICA ropes are made from Dyneema® fibres produced by DSM in Holland .
Dyneema® is the strongest fibre in the world . Ropes from Dyneema® have excellent properties with regard to strength, weight, UV-stability (daylight), safety, abrasion, tension fatigue, bending fatigue .
DYNAMICA ropes are the most compact ropes in the world made from Dyneema® .
DYNAMICA ropes are produced in Denmark on state of the art machinery, to ensure the best obtainable quality .
DYNAMICA ropes are coated with a unique coating that ensures shape stability and increased abrasion resistance for longer working life . DYNAMICA ropes are heat-set under tension to ensure maximum strength, durability and uniformity .
StrengthDyneema® is more than 10 times stronger than steel per unit of weight . This means that DYNAMICA ropes have a slightly higher strength than a steel wire of the same dimension - but less than one tenth of the weight . DYNAMICA ropes are produced from SK75 from DSM Dyneema .
Tension fatigueDyneema® fibre can sustain a very large number of peak loads (loads close to the breaking strength) . This gives a long life and a high safe working load . While steelwire can take 6,500 loads at 50 % of the maximum breaking load DYNAMICA ropes can take 10 million cycles at the same load level . DYNAMICA ropes are therefore an excellent material for dynamic applications .
SafetyDyneema® has a very low elongation (2-3 % at break) . DYNAMICA ropes store little energy and therefore has little backlash - even at hundreds of tonnes of load . Using Dyneema® the amount of stored energy is much lower compared to nylon or steel wire ropes . This is a very important safety feature .
UV-stabilityDyneema® has a better stability to sunlight than other relevant fibre . After two years of exposure 80% of the strength is retained .
Resistance to chemical substancesDyneema® is resistant to chemical substances and will not be affected by oil, acids or other commonly used substances .
AbrasionDyneema® has an excellent abrasion resistance compared with other synthetic fibre (five times better than polyester) . Special care has to be taken, however, in order to ensure that it moves over clean nonrust surfaces etc . Sharp edges etc . should be avoided .
Bending fatigueDyneema® has good bending properties . However, it is recommended to bend over diameters of at least 10 times the diameter of the rope .
