Lo Mejor está por Venir

Quinto Domingo de Cuaresma

Isaías 43:16‐21; Filipenses 3:8‐14; Juan 8:1‐11

San Pablo relata que aceptó la perdida de todas las cosas por la causa de Cris‐

to. ¿Qué cosas? En los versículos inmediatamente anteriores a este pasaje, el

declara: “En lo que se refiere a la jus cia que procede de la Ley, era de una

conducta irreprochable.” Él era un fariseo perfecto, en el mejor sen do de la

palabra, alguien que amaba la Ley de Dios y se esforzaba en cumplirla cabalmente.

En su mundo aquello representaba una enorme pérdida, pero comparada con “el inapreciable conocimiento

de Cristo Jesús” llegó a considerarla un “desperdicio”. Y concluye: “Olvidándome del camino recorrido, me

lanzo hacia adelante y corro en dirección a la meta, para alcanzar el premio del llamado celes al que Dios

me ha hecho en Cristo Jesús”.

Isaías va bastante más lejos tanto como para decirnos que hay que olvidar los an guos portentos de Dios,

porque lo que está por venir es aún más grandioso: “¡Estoy por hacer algo nuevo!”

El relato del Evangelio de hoy es usualmente tulado como La Mujer Sorprendida en Adulterio. Sin embargo,

en el espíritu de las lecturas de hoy, deberíamos cambiarlo por La Mujer salvada por Jesús. Salvada de dos

cosas: de la lapidación y del pecado. Debemos creer que al mismo empo que le decía, “Vete, no peques

más en adelante,” le abrió la posibilidad de tener una nueva vida. Su futuro llegará a ser más importante que

su pasado.

Este es el obje vo de la conversión que a su vez es el punto central de la Cuaresma. Esta fue la esperanza de

la Bella Señora al venir a La Sale e. Su pueblo fue “sorprendido” en sus pecados y estaban enfrentando el

cas go debido. Su hijo estaba una vez más en la posición de ejercer la sentencia o de ofrecer la salvación. Su

preferencia es clara, y el mensaje para nosotros es el mismo que el dado a la mujer: “Vete, no peques más

en adelante”.

Pero ¿esto es realmente posible? De hecho, lo es. El pecado significa darle la espalda a Dios. La conversión

significa volver a él una vez más, buscando su gracia y su fortaleza, redescubriendo la alegría de su amor y

poniendo en prác ca aquel amor. Nuestra vida cris ana tendrá sus imperfecciones, pero el vivir en Cristo

nos hará ser conscientes de que es él quien salva. Con lágrimas sembramos, pero por su poder, con regocijo

cosecharemos.
