Cocoa Beach Demographics And Housing Info

As of the census of 2000, there were 12,482 people, 6,529 households, and 3,532 families residing in the city. The population density was 985.5/km² (2,552.1/mi²). There were 8,709 housing units at an average density of 687.6/km² (1,780.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.64% White, 0.62% African American, 0.22% Native American, 1.07% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 1.08% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.52% of the population.There were 6,529 households out of which 12.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.5% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.9% were non-families. 38.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.91 and the average family size was 2.47. In the city the population was spread out with 12.2% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 22.0% from 25 to 44, 27.6% from 45 to 64, and 34.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 54 years. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.4 males.

Where Will I Go To College?I want to go to the University of Florida. It is located in Gainesville. UF is one of the nations top 5 largest universities. It is a public university. I want to graduate with a General Business Degree.

I would like a small commute. I do not want to drive an hour to work unless I have too. Rush hour traffic is something I would really like to avoid. I expect to have about a 15 minute commute. I plan to work as a Promotional Manager for Ron Jon’s Surf Shop. Ron Jon’s is an international beach and surf shop with a very high end merchandise. The promotional manager sponsors the surf contest, the bathing suit contest, coordinate beach promotional activities, and any other advertising. It would be nice to work for a well-known company. I would like to make about $150,000-$200,000 a year. I would invest in Ron Jon’s Stock because I would work for them and they are successful.

Job

FamilyI want to get married and have 3 children. I would like a 3 bedroom house. It would be nice to begin my family by a beach so my kids will always have something to do. I want to make sure I live in a tight community where everyone knows each other. That way I can ensure the safety of my children.

Cocoa Beach Education

My kids would attend Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School. It received an “A” grade. The principle is Dotty Richardson. Roosevelt is a public school taking grades K-6. They have a 14:1 student: teacher ratio which is lower than the national average of 15.5:1.

After Roosevelt Elementary they would attend Cocoa Beach Jr/Sr High School. CBHS also received an “A” grade. In the list of the nations 1000 top schools CBHS is rated 46th.The principle is Timothy Cool. CBHS is a public school containing grades 7-12. They have 1516 students.

Hospitals I would take my family to Cape Canaveral Hospital. It is located in Cocoa Beach. It is close to home and known to be a very good medical center. They provide all different types of services just like any hospital. CCH is a not-for-profit hospital.

My family would go to church once a week. It’s important to pay attention to religion. We would attend Church of Our Savior. The Pastor is Sean Heslin. Church is very important because it can bring a family close together through religion. I feel church would be a great family bonding experience.

Churches

CarI would like to own a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. I would prefer for it to be red. This car would cost me around $15,000. It would be worth it. I want a nice car but not too new or expensive. My wife would drive a Yukon. That would be our family transportation car.

Local Services

We could enjoy a delicious dinner at Fishlips located in Cocoa Beach!

We could do all of our grocery shopping at Publix. Publix is just like Kroger.
