Site Administrator Setup and Procedures

NoteThis section of the Installation Manual pertains to the designated Zeus System Administratoronly, and should not be provided to non-administrative users.

When a License Holder obtains licensing to use Zeus, Siemens Fire Safety’s Sales Departmentprovides it with the following: the Zeus setup software on CD-ROM, a 16-character License HolderID (LHID) unique to the site, and a License Holder Name (LHN) unique to the site.

As the License Holder’s Administrator, you will install Zeus first on the PC that you will be using forZeus administration purposes. Perform this task as described in the previous section.

After installation and PC restart, open Zeus by double-clicking on the desktop shortcut. Thefollowing dialog will appear when Zeus is being used for the first time:

At this dialog, enter the License Holder ID and License Holder Name (LHID, LHN) from Siemens FireSafety, exactly as it is provided. Note that both fields are case-sensitive. If you have access to thefile LicenseConfig.dat for your Site, via a diskette, CD-ROM or network, you can import this data.Click the button Import License Info, then select the directory in which the .dat file is stored.

You will also need to choose and enter a License Holder Custom ID (LHCID) of up to 6 characters. When a Zeus configuration file is first uploaded to a fire system, the LHCID is copied to its controlpanel. All subsequent users must have the LHCID in their accounts to access the panel. You canchange the LHCID in the panel and user accounts to limit access to current users only.

Finally, check the Administrator Install checkbox, and twice enter a password of your choosing.Zeus will require this password each time you log in as Administrator. (The Import User Filebutton is used only during User setup; refer to the “User Setup” section of this manual for details.)

To complete the process, you must contact the Siemens Tech Support Department, and providecode shown in the Installation Code field. Setting Up User Accounts

As Site Administrator, you set up user accounts by opening the Zeus program, and clicking Tools >User Administration, to get the User Administration dialog:

Set up Site User accounts by adding to or copying from the default list of accounts. [Three defaultuser accounts are provided with Zeus: sec (login password “sec”), tech (“tech”) and user (“user”).These correspond to typical accounts for a secretary, field technician and system design user.]

Set each account’s parameters, including the following:

Username: The User’s login name (not a file name). For example: Bill Smith or Technician.Description: A word or phrase describing the account.Password: Sets the password the user must enter to access Zeus for a session.Expiration Period: Length of time User can open his/her copy of Zeus.Permissions: Tasks User can/can’t perform with his/her copy of Zeus.Property Access: Sets the level of access to system properties displayed in the Zeus Detail View.

To set up a particular account’s access, you move permissions between the User Can Not and UserCan windows as needed, and select the appropriate Property Access Level. For Property Access,Levels 1 and 2 permit administrators and designers to change most available system properties(Property fields in the Zeus Detail View). Level 3 permits a technician to change a limited numberof system properties in the field, while Level 4 allows a secretary to change only the BaseLanguage Custom Message properties (i.e., the component labels displayed at a control panel.)

The license fileLicenseConfig.dat should also be exported: License > Export License Information. This file canthen be transferred to a floppy disk or network location for Users to set up their own PCs.

Generating Passwords

As Site Administrator, you have the ability to generate the Installation Passwords needed to unlockUser accounts that are local to your Site.

IMPORTANT

In accordance with your Site’s licensing agreement with Siemens Fire Safety, it is the SiteAdministrator’s responsibility to safeguard Installation and Login Passwords fromunauthorized use.

To generate an Installation Password, open Zeus and click Tools > User Administration > Tools >Reset Password Tool:

When a User opens his or her copy of Zeus for the first time, he or she will see the same ZeusLicense Information dialog, and will need to provide you with the local 10-character InstallationCode displayed. To activate the User’s copy of Zeus, enter this local Installation Code in thePassword Tool dialog’s top field, and click Generate Password. The 16-character case-sensitivePassword appears in the Password field on your screen. You supply this to the User, who in turnenters it in the four boxes of the Password field on his or her screen.

If you click the Code Source button after the Installation Code has been entered, the Passwordfield identifies whether the Code is a new Installation, or a Reset Password of the Day (see below).

Installing Office Password

The Zeus command Tools > Installing Office Password allows you to request access to aFireFinder XLS control panel (PMI) that another organization has programmed. When the host PCis communicating with a PMI via an upload cable, and this command is invoked, this dialog results:

The ID number of the control panel is displayed at the top. You can provide this information toSiemens Fire Safety along with a completed Installing Office Password Release Form (AppendixA) in order to request a 16-character Office Override Password. If you are authorized accordingly, you would enter this password in the Password from Factory field and click OK. The panel shouldthen accept new configurations from your newly authorized PC. Once you upload a configurationto the panel, your organization’s LHCID – as selected by the Site Admin during Zeus installation –will be stored in the panel. Only PCs with this LHCID will now be able to access this panel. (Youwill no longer need the 16-character Office Override Password.)

Renewing Your Site’s License

You can confirm when your Site’s Zeus license will expire, and renew an expiring license, by usingthe command User Administration > License > Renew License to see the follow dialog:

All site accounts stop working when the Site License expires. To avoid this, renew your accountthrough Siemens Fire Safety’s Sales Department. Siemens will provide a new LHID upon renewal. With the Administrator account running, open the Renew License dialog, enter the new LHID andclick OK. No further action is required. User Setup

As a Zeus User, you will need the Zeus CD, a License File (LicenseConfig.dat) and a User file (.usr)exported by your Administrator, to set up Zeus on your PC. These files may reside on a floppy diskor on a network drive to which the host computer is connected.

Begin by installing Zeus in accordance with the first section of this manual. After restarting thePC, double-click on the Zeus program shortcut on the Windows Desktop. This dialog will bedisplayed the first time Zeus is opened:

Click the “Import License Info” button to insert the license data for your company into the topfields: License Holder ID, License Holder Name, License Holder Custom ID. These fields will befilled out automatically when you select the correct location for the file LicenseConfig.dat in theBrowse for Folder dialog, below. (Note that the file location, not the file itself, is selected in thedialog.) The license information may also be entered manually, but care must be taken that allthe case-sensitive information is input exactly as has been issued by Siemens Fire Safety.

Returning to the Zeus License Information dialog, make sure the Administrator Install box is notchecked, since you are importing a User file that your Administrator has set up for you. ClickImport User File to browse for your User file (.usr) using the Import From dialog:

(Note that this “unlocking” Password is different than the password you will use to log intoZeus each session.)

Ignore the “New Password” fields, which are for Site Administrator use. Click OK to “unlock” yourUser copy of Zeus. If your setup was successful, you will be presented with the Zeus Login dialog:

The Administrator’s login name will be displayed in the User field. Replace that with your Username, enter your Login Password, and click OK. The Zeus main screen will appear.

Youwill then need to enter a new 16-character, case-sensitive Password to access Zeus, this time(without spaces) in the Password field of the Zeus Login dialog. Zeus will respond with a NewPassword dialog:

If the User account is within 2 weeks of expiring, a warning dialog comes up each time Zeus isstarted.
