About Medic one

• United Nations calls for every nation to provide its citizens with access to immediate emergency medical services. (Article 12-U.N. International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights).

• Cardiovascular diseases - CVD (e.g. heart attack and stroke) is now the number one killer in Indonesia (WHO).

• Heart disease strikes at a much younger age in Asia than in the west.

• About 75 percent to 80 percent of all sudden cardiac arrests happen at home, so being trained to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can mean the difference between life and death.

• In Indonesia there is no reliable emergency number to call.

• First Aid is not in our education system. Almost no one in a typical Indonesian family know how to provide immediate medical help.

• Effective first aid or CPR, provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest, can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival.

• Brain death starts to occur four to six minutes after someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest if no CPR or defibrillation occurs

during that time.

• In Indonesia there is no medical team available to arrive at a medical emergency scene in a timely manner.

• Most ambulances are not "Life Support" ready. A typical ambulance is a "pick-up & load" service with no capability to sustain someone's life on the way to a hospital.

• Approximately 94 percent of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital.

• While there are many hospitals, most are not ready for a medical emergency. While triaging (patient priority) system is in the standard operating procedures, execution of such a system is still far from world standards.

Medic One’s mission is two-fold. Firstly, we are is the first private health care organization in Indonesia to provide the most rapid and the most thorough Emergency Medical Services (EMS) similar to US' 911, plus Health Care Concierge, as well as a host of other Pre-Hospitalization Services – ensuring you peace of mind and support in time of need.

Secondly, we serve the community with Save-A-Life-Team (S.A.L.T) program which aims to provide first aid skills to everyone. Those skills can then be used to help in an emergency prior to the arrival of a medical team or on the way to the hospital.

How S.A.L.T works

Milestone 2011: 5000 Trainers in Jakarta

How You Can Help – Building a Safer Indonesia

To quickly accomplish its second mission, Medic One collaborates with volunteer firstaiders and selected community champions to develop our train-the-trainer program aimed at public school teachers and youth at schools. In turn these teachers and youth will safeguard their schools and become our ambassadors to pass on their life-saving skills to their community.

Our first milestone is to develop 5000 S.A.L.T teacher-trainers and youth-trainers in Jakarta by 2011. Why youth also?

Because the lessons learned early in life establish behavioral patterns for the rest of a person’s life and become a part of that person’s core beliefs and values. In overseas, the use of such an approach has a proven track record of producing commited citizens who will act due to increased knowledge, confidence, and a desire to help sustain someone’s life - before medical professionals arrive.

There are many ways you can help us develop S.A.L.T trainers. Spend a few hours and take up any of our First Aider courses and part of your fee will help S.A.L.T trainers to be equiped. Or sponsor the public school where you grew up. Or become a volunteer S.A.L.T officer.

S.A.L.T is also heavily reliant upon the generosity of charitable organizations as well. If you wish to become a sponsor, make a donation or integrate S.A.L.T into your company Corporate Social Responsibility program, call us at (62-21) 725 9100 for more information.

What is a Registered Training Organization (RTO)? Registered training organizations go through a long process of stringent criterion and requirements by the accrediting body to ensure the qualification, credibility and eligibility of the training provider to issue certification.

Medic One, as the country designate of Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT) and US Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI), is a RTO under International Accreditation & Recognition Council (IARC). Standards are set according to internationally expected academic norms for credible education with standards set by education professionals.

Historically, less than 40% of recognized applications have ever been successful with IARC. It is different from other accreditation systems in that we are audited to ensure minimum standards are met with equal importance given to both procedures and quality of the emergency first aid education provided.

Medic One as an International RTO

Medic One’s internationally recognized courses include those certified by American Heart Association, American College of Emergency Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, International Association of Flight Paramedics and American Academy Of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

The first and only licensee in Indonesia to provide curriculum from world class medical organizations

Medic one As a registered Training organization

How we trainMedic One utilizes trainers who have real–life experience in first aid. These trainers are well–rounded as emergency paramedics and emergency physicians with field experience in saving lives. This helps ensure that the training remains relevant, practical and not simply “straight off the slides”.

Utilizing a proven training system and methodology that took time to develop and fully adopt, Medic One trains in facilities that are well–designed with sufficient equipment to ensure the best learning environment.

As a capstone to our system in safeguarding the quality of our training system, Medic One utilizes an Expatriate Technical Advisor who has extensive experience in the management of the provision of pre-hospital emergency medical care.

All of this is backed by Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT) experience in professional and community training.

Plus, if you become a Medic One FirstAider, you have access to our medical response center for reminders, updates and support in the "Chain of Rescue" during a medical emergency.

First Aid Courses for General Public

11

Anyone who witnesses a medical emergency can provide immediate help and potentially save someone’s life. Immediate attention by a trained individual is far better than rushing a victim to a hospital or waiting for an ambulance.

The Medic One first aid courses follow in the footsteps of the International Red Cross founder Henry Dunant who organized local villagers into first aid teams during a battle. Thousands of the war wounded were saved.

A nurse is a paramedic. Wrong. It's not the same. Under world standards in order for a nurse to become a paramedic they need to take a bridge course such as what the Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT) offers.

AREMT and Medic One bring to Indonesia the first EMT-Paramedic academy providing global certification in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for Nurses, Safety Officers and Doctors. Nurses become paramedics to obtain the highest level of pre-hospital advanced life support care. We use the US NHTSA curriculum and our
