� FEMIP launched in 2002.

� Geography: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Syria(suspended), Lebanon and Israel.

� EIB Representative Offices in Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt.

� Since 2002: EUR 14.2 bn invested.

Key EIB Microfinance Actions in MENA

� Equity, loans and capacity building grants to existing partners, such as ENDA (Tunisia), FONDEP (Morocco), Al Majmoua (Lebanon), but also new partners, notably, ACAD Palestine.

� Importance of strengthening the legal and regulatory environment through the EIB-Luxembourg MicroMed Initiative in Tunisia.

� Studies and research.

EIB Microfinance Investments in FEMIP

� Existing Counterparties: Al Amana, FONDEP, AMSSF, ENDAInterarab Tunisia, Al Majmoua Lebanon, DBACD Egypt, FirstMicrofinance Institution Syria.

� Total signatures: EUR 36m.� New Counterparty: ACAD Microfinance Palestine.

Direct equity investment of USD 1m and capacity building grant alongside ofSIDI (Solidarité Internationale pour le Développement), Grameen CréditAgricole Foundation, and Triple Jump in a transforming Palestinian MFI. EIBcontribution financed by the European Union via the EuropeanNeighbourhood Partnership Instrument (ENPI).

MicroMed, a microfinance support program for Tunisia

� Joint EIB-Luxembourg initiative. ADA as implementing agent.

Observatory.

2. Reinforcing the capacity of microfinance operators and market development with new products.

3. Improving market infrastructure.

MicroMed: Priorities and Allocation of Resources

� EUR 4mln budget.

� 45% of budget allocated for capacity building and market development.

� Study on Mobile financial services in Mediterranean Partner Countriesfinanced by the EIB FEMIP Trust Fund (2012).
