UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) - World's rst Regional Connectivity Scheme to Connect un-served & Under-served airports and boost regional tourism and economic growth; ensures affordable ying at INR 2,500 (39.133 US $) for an hour long ight. In a century of Civil Aviation only 76 airports connected with scheduled commercial ights in 28 months of UDAN, 69 unserved airports, 31 heliports and 6 water dromes awarded for connectivity. In three rounds of UDAN, 190 proposals involving around 700 Regional Connectivity routes have been awarded. INR4,500 crore have been sanctioned for revival of RCS-UDAN airports.

Fleet Strength: 587 aircraft of scheduled Indian carriers operating year around; private scheduled airlines plans to add over 900 aircrafts in the next 5 years
Cargo Trafc: Witnessing continuous expansion with total air cargo handled at ~ 34 lakh MT, recording a 10% CAGR from FY14
NSOPs (Non-Scheduled Operators): Undergoing strong revival, domestic non-scheduled passengers grew to 14 lakh (FY18) registering a 6% growth
Commitment to greener airspace: Comprehensive regulatory policies and strategies adopted to reduce aviation carbon footprints
High-quality job creation: 2 lakh people are directly employed in various segments across aviation industry with substantial growth ahead

Ministry of Civil Aviation is the nodal Ministry responsible for the formulation of national policies & programmes for
development & regulation of Civil Aviation & for devising and implementing schemes for the orderly growth and
expansion of civil air transport. Its functions also extend to overseeing airport facilities, air traffic services and
carriage of passengers & goods by air.
AIRPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA
Airports Authority of India (AAI) was constituted by an Act of Parliament and came into being on 1st April 1995 by
merging erstwhile National Airports Authority and International Airports Authority of India. The merger brought into
existence a single Organization entrusted with the responsibility of creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing
civil aviation infrastructure both on the ground and air space in the country.
