    2. Course Offering: Nonviolent Communication

    November 5th, 12th and 19th at First Church in Albany :Rev. Susan Vincent-Cox, a FOCUS Board Member and Pastor at FirstChurch will offer a 3 week course on Nonviolent Communication, a prac-tical skill set for use in every day life to increase authenticity in commu-nication, understanding, deepening connection and conflict resolution.Time: 6:30 PM-8:30 PM.

    The FOCUS Winter Breakfast Program is starting up again on November4th. This past Tuesday night, volunteers gathered for the annual orienta-tion at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The evening included a light din-

    ner and a review of all the necessary info to get the season started off right.

    Wont You Consider Donating? This week New York State mailed out checks forProperty Tax Freeze Credit wont you please con-sider sharing by passing it along to help us keep theinterfaith food pantry and winter breakfast pro-gram running this winter.

    The Pantry Advisory Committee is busy ordering items for our annualholiday baskets that we give each guest in the food pantry during themonth of December. We are asking for donations of cake mixes this yearto satisfy everyones sweet tooth. If you would like to donate cake mixand need to schedule a drop off time, contact Lorraine Houk at (518) 443-0460. Each basket contains about $25 worth of food items. If you would like to help offset expenses please send check to: FOCUS, 275State St., Albany NY 12210, c/o A. Tedrow. Mark check holiday.

    6. Empty Bowls: Save the Date

    Thats right! Empty Bowls is back for its second year. It will take place onJanuary 25th, 2015 . Save the date, mark your calendar, and get readyfor an enjoyable, seasonal event that heightens your awareness of hungerin our community and rallies our efforts behind it. This event is an annualfundraiser and combined event that will benefit FOCUS Churches of Albany and Hunger Action Network of New York State.

    Admission to the event includes a handcrafted bowl from a local artist andsoup made by the Chefs Consortium. More details to be announced.
