Black TeaBlack tea is crafted to reveal the strongest and deepest flavours. The British Afternoon Tea was

developed to complement the rich, dark flavours of these leaves. These black teas have been traditionally hand-crafted in small batches with great care to preserve their wonderful subtleties of flavour.

English BreakfastOriginally Scottish and served at Balmoral Castle

in the Highlands. The favourite blend of Queen Victoria, it endures as one of the world’s

most celebrated black teas. Reviving, robust.

Decaf English BreakfastThe caffeine-free version of the renowned English Breakfast.

DarjeelingCreated by cool mountain breezes, days of veiled sunshine and nights of rain on the steep slopes of the Himalayas. One of the

world’s most celebrated teas, symphonic and inspired.

Lapsang Souchong The earliest black tea in history, perfected over thousands

of years in China’s Fujian province. Tea leaves delicately dried over pinewood fires. Unmistakably smoky.

Earl GreyLegendary tea with origins spanning from China to Howick Hall

in Northumberland. Named after British Prime Minister Earl Grey and combined with bergamot orange in the British tradition.

AssamLeaves shaped by heat waves and the deluge of monsoons.

Second flush harvest, feisty and vivid. The taste of northeast India.

White Tea

White tea is the least processed of all teas. Their young leaves and buds are all picked in spring and dried in the warm sunshine. They share very delicate flavours.

Silver NeedleOnly the downy, silvery buds, plucked in spring in China’s celebrated Fujian province.

Simply dried in sunshine for a clean, pure and delicate character. White tea at its finest.

Green TeaGreen tea has as many subtleties of flavour as the finest of wines. The best are both rare and exquisite.

The minimum of processing allows the fresh, green flavour of the leaves to be maintained.Jasmine Blossom

Spring-plucked green leaves with layer upon layer of fragrant jasmine blossoms, exquisitely infused into the tea.

Delicate and beautifully floral.

Green SenchaA Japanese tea, which is prized for its high vitamin content,

sweetness, and grassy flavour with resinous aroma and minimal astringency.

Herbal TeaHerbal tea is not strictly ‘tea’ because all tea comes from the leaves of camellia sinensis. They are infusions of the leaves and stems of different herbs. These herbal infusions contain no additives or

flavourings and are naturally caffeine-free.Camomile

A tisane from time immemorial, bandied as a cure-all and an elixir of youth. Now known for its soothing and calming

effects as one of the world’s most famous tisanes.

Fruity BerriesThe harmony of wild berries, floral notes and a hint of

liquorice in a balancing act of sweet-and-sour. One beautifully fruit-filled tisane, naturally free of caffeine.

Ginger and LemonThe biting strength of ginger, sweet and savoury.

The mouth-plucking caress of lemongrass, warming. A combination bold and energetic.

PeppermintA mythic nymph once transformed into a sweet-smelling

mentha plant, her leaves complex with biting menthol oils. To this day, the perfect end to a meal, naturally caffeine-free.

“I went with my Lord Chamberlaine to see a garden at Enfield Towne, thence to West Lodge in the Chace, residence of the Rt.Hon. Henry Coventry, Secretary of State.

It is a very pretty place, the house commodious, the garden handsome and our entertainment free. That which I most wondered at was that in all the Chase, within

14 miles of London, there is never a house, barne, church or building. These are pretty retreats for gentlemen, especially for those who are studious and lovers of privacy.”

John Evelyn’s Diary – 2nd June 1676.

The Terrace Bar, the hotel lounges and the Mary Beale Restaurant feature original works of art by Britain’s first professional woman artist.

Mary Beale (1633-1699) was a pioneer who, at her peak, painted over 80 portraits a year. Her husband Charles looked after the children, managed the accounts and booked

the sittings but it was Mary who was in charge of her studio and her commissions.

Hard working and dedicated to her profession, she painted all the leading figures of Restoration London, including Henry Coventry, Secretary of State,

who was the owner of West Lodge.

Her descendants have owned and run West Lodge Park as a fine country house hotel for 70 years and three generations.
