Audition Information Summerstock auditions consist of two portions: vocal and dance/choreography. You may come to either advertised audition time; there is no need to attend both dates. Please plan on staying as long as it takes to complete your audition process.

We will begin rehearsals the week of May 14. While school is in session, rehearsals will be from 5:00–8:00 PM. Beginning on Monday, June 18, rehearsals will be from 5:00–9:00 PM. During Tech Week (July 16–19), rehearsals will be from 5:00–10:00 PM. We will have two mandatory Saturday rehearsals on June 30 and July 14. Performances times are as follows: Friday, July 20, at 7:00 PM; Saturday, July 21, at 1:00 and 7:00 PM; Sunday, July 22, at 3:00 PM; Friday, July 27, at 7:00 PM; Saturday, July 28, at 1:00 and 7:00 PM; and Sunday, July 29, at 3:00 PM. Immediately following the closing performance, all cast members are required to participate in strike.

For the vocal auditions, you will need to prepare to sing 16–32 measures of a traditional Broadway musical song. You must bring sheet (piano/vocal) music in the appropriate key with you. An accompanist will be provided. Songs from Mary Poppins and from jukebox musicals (like Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia, and Beautiful) will not be allowed. Consider songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Rodgers & Hart, Irving Berlin, Meredith Willson, Leonard Bernstein, Lerner & Loewe, Cole Porter, Bock & Harnick, George & Ira Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Lionel Bart, etc.

For the choreography audition, you will be taught a dance sequence from the show. No advance preparation is necessary. Dress appropriately for freedom of movement and wear comfortable shoes. Examples: Chucks, Vans, and most sneakers are fine. Do not wear high heels, boots, sandals or flip flops. If you have jazz shoes, by all means, wear them.

What to bring to your audition: Sheet music Comfortable shoes and clothing Bottle of water (stay hydrated!) List of schedule conflicts from May 14 – July 29

Headshots are optional.

Your auditions will be recorded on video.

If you can not attend either audition date, please contact Wade Thompson, our Summerstock director, at [email protected] to request a video audition packet.
