Summer Professional Development
Review the following guidelines and summer course offerings list. The catalog is provided as a tool to make
employees aware of district professional development offerings. Please review Eduphoria~Workshop and Region
10 for updated listings and information. Courses may be added after the posting of this document.
Determine the courses you will attend during the summer for professional growth.
Complete the professional development growth planner and submit to your campus or department administrator
for approval. (Page 4 in this document)
Make a copy of the planner for your records and planning.
Register for courses. All district courses will be in Eduphoria~Workshop by June 1, 2012.
ALL district professional development sessions listed in Eduphoria and meet the district wavier day requirements between August 22, 2011 and August 26, 2012 are eligible to exchange for October 8, 2012 and January 21, 2013 professional development days listed in the 2012‐2013 district calendar.
A minimum of twelve (12) Professional Development hours are required to exchange for the two days.
Employees not attaining 6 hours training for each Waiver Day will have their salary docked at their daily rate of pay. There is no grace period for submitting documentation beyond the stated date.
Submit the Forney Independent School District Waiver Day Application Form (Page 5 in this document) and proper documentation to your campus administrator on or before August 27, 2012.
Please direct all waiver questions to Dana Curry or Kathy Green. Please direct all question relating to Dual Language and ESL to Aibeth Laugisch. Please direct all questions relating to the G/T program to Kathy Green.
Paraprofessionals must have supervisor approval for attendance and notify Crystal Timbes prior to attendance for time clock directions. Hours will be applied according to Fair Labor Law and District policy (DMA local).
Essential (Required and Recommended): Courses listed in Eduphoria~Workshop as essential are recognized as
priority to your subject area and are required to be selected first for registration. Essential courses include those mandated by TEA and district initiatives and required to be completed within a designated timeframe.

All documentation must be attached to the Forney Independent School District Waiver Day Application Form (page 5 of this document) and submitted to your direct administrator/supervisor on or before August 27, 2012. These professional development sessions, if meet district waiver day criteria, will be applied towards the two professional development waiver days set within the district 2012‐2013 District Calendar. assessment/project within the stated timeframe. The majority of Region 10 E‐Courses are at no cost to participants. Some E‐Courses may have participant costs. It is the responsibility of the participant to pay enrollment fees. .E‐Courses must be completed outside the instructional day. You must email Dana Grieb at [email protected] to provide date and time of completion of the E‐course. E‐course certificate and date and time stamps must be attached to Waiver Credit Form and submitted to your direct administrator/supervisor.
1. Courses that do not meet the minimum participant requirement (10 or more) will be cancelled and registered participants will be notified in an email through the Eduphoria System within 24 hours. It is the employees’ responsibility to check the Eduphoria system and email for cancellations.
2. Sessions will begin on time. Check your registration confirmation for each course. Participants are expected to arrive on time and remain until the session ends. Arriving after the first 10 minutes of a course is subject to being denied attendance. Failure to provide your signature on the official sign in document will forfeit the attendance credit.
3. Lunch is on your own. 4. Snacks are not provided or available at training locations. Remember to bring the nourishment you require. 5. Laptops are not required unless noted on the course information at registration. 6. A participant survey is requested. You can access the survey within your Eduphoria~Portfolio in each course listed. Once the
survey closes, you cannot complete it. This survey affects future professional development planning in the district.
Directions for entering an out‐of‐district course into your portfolio and how to attach a document to the request are available at the end of this document. Please keep the original certificate for your records. A copy of outside certificates, which meet district waiver credit criteria, can be attached to the Waiver Exchange Application. As time permits, approval for credit in personal portfolios will be reviewed and approved for personal documentation.
“No show” for staff development sessions drain district resources intended for school improvement and student success. As a
courtesy to our presenters, please make every effort to attend courses for which you have registered or cancel your registration in
advance of the course if you find that you cannot attend.
