 Summer Reading Guidelines 

● Summer Reading 2019 is scheduled to run June 7- July 27. ● All Summer Reading programs are FREE and open to the public, but some require registration or 

participation release waivers. All participation release waivers for children will need to be signed by the child’s parent or legal guardian.  

● Please call the library branch location of the event wish to attend for more information and to register.

1. Go to www.forsythlibrary.org 2. Click the Events tab  3. Select Summer Reading 4. At the top right corner, click Register  5. Fill out the registration form and submit  

 Why Should You Read This Summer? Log your reading times and get entered into a drawing! Thanks to our Friends of the Library organizations and Bookmarks for donating gift card prizes this year. All locations will host drawings for prizes on August 9, 2019. Be sure to register by reading 480 minutes (children) or by reading 3 titles (teens and adults). To be included in the drawings, all paper and online reading logs must be completed and turned in by Saturday, July 27, 2019. Complete multiple reading logs and enter as many times as you like. Please call the library location of the event you wish to attend for more information.   Bright Star- “One Small Step” This tale marks the history of flight and space travel, from the ancient tale of Icarus, to the first flights of the Wright Brothers on the beaches at Kitty Hawk, to the Great Space Race of the 1960s and beyond. Aspiring pilots and astronauts will be thrilled to learn about the real life characters that took one small step.  All ages.

Attic Salt Theatre: “Greek Myths” Greek myths have it all, and Attic Salt’s adaptation of some favorite myths will keep you cheering and laughing while you learn about mythology. This show’s colorful costumes, innovative stagecraft and silly storytelling antics will keep even the youngest kids engaged. This program is intended for children ages 4-11, but all are welcome to attend.

 Balloon Lady Come watch the Balloon Lady in a loud and energetic performance as she creates amazing things with just balloons.

Big Bang Boom Featuring parent-friendly, educational children’s music by three long-time musicians and dads from Greensboro. They write songs with a pop sensibility that mixes alternative, hip-hop, rock, and country that adults and children of all ages can enjoy.

We’re on a mission to inspire children to pursue STEM careers and become the next generation of scientists. (Note: the Rocket Science Workshop at Rural Hall Branch Library is different than the stage show. This workshop is for ages 5-11. Registration required.)

 Wake Forest Museum of Anthropology: Star Boy-A Blackfoot Legend Discover why the sun, moon and stars are so important to American Indians. Using objects from the museum’s collection, children will learn about the Blackfoot tribe and other Plains groups. They will also decorate their own tipis using a variety of materials. This program is for children ages 5-11 and registration is required. Please call the library of the event you wish you attend to register.

Science Tellers: Aliens-Escape From Earth During a midnight meteor shower, something mysterious falls from the sky toward Earth, but it’s not a shooting star. Two curious kids venture out to investigate and soon find themselves mixed up with a family of visitors from another planet. Trapped by a crazy space scientist, the two kids must risk everything to rescue the aliens and help them escape from Earth. All Ages.
