1. PreparationDo

• Bring some necessary medication

• Bring cash enough for the beginning, or better, use credit card

• It can be very cold, bring some sweaters

• Bring some of your school equipment (but not too much)

• Bring mini ricecooker! It helps a lot for many people. And some ready use

seasoning.

• Bring and take care of your important personal and essential documents

• Luggage: not exceed 20 kg!

• Avoid to bring any liquids or weapons; Cigarette is limited

2. Culture shock & Homesick: some tips• New atmosphere / new friends

Dont be malu-malu , interact with as many people as possible. The are your

future network. Try new things!

• Missing family? Homesick?Keep comunicate with them. Internet is everywhere, use skype / Yahoo /

BBM / FB / Twitter, or use phonebooth.

• Independent living :You are not anak mama anymore right ?

• Miss the Indonesian Foods? Looking for halal food?

Look for big supermarkets (as Auchan-who has halal product department,

Carrefour, E Leclerc, etc) and asian or maghreb stores for halal product and

some oriental seasoning and spices.

• Indonesian student community : Yes they are very helpful, but try to not stayonly with Indonesians. Have the international connections! :)

• Don’t judge, whether it is good or not! Different country = different culture.

1. Administrative enrolment (inscription administrative) to get the « student status » (attestation of enrolment and/or

Type of Insurrance

• Securité social: health insurance for those staying for a long period

Below 28 years old: special rate at 203 Euros per year

Over 28 years old : different rates depend on social situation

Free for French government scholarship beneficier

• Mutuelle: additional health insurance to support Securité social (for 100%

health cover)

Varied rate depend on insurance coverage starts from 100 Euros per

Complete and send the form when you arrive in France !

Buy an OFII (or OMI, ANAEM) Tax Stamp (55 euros) in bureau de Tabac or Centres des

impôts et du Trésor Public.

Notification from OFII by mail for Medical examination

Documents needed for renewal (to obtain carte de sejour temporaire) do it two

months before the expiration of your longstay visa, at your residency « Préfecture ».

A valid passport (original + 2 copies)

Certificate proof of studies (originals + 2 copies): Social security registration;

To send the documents or the package, in France, the nationalpost office is called “La Poste”, you can find it everywhere

throughout the city/town.

If the document is not so urgent, you can find the yellow box

everywhere to put your letter, it’s called ‘boite aux lettres’ .

Notes: 

To send a postcard to your family or friends in Indonesia, you just need to put one stamp ‘Marianne’ 0,70 euro like this ->
