ROYAL SHEPHERD

This coming Sunday we will celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, which shows us a different kind of  King.  Not a King surrounded by honours and important people, nor trumpets or heralds, but as a Royal Shepherd, guiding the ordinary and the unimportant.  The ones who are lost and sick, the li le and  forgo en ones, these are truly important in the eyes of God.   Christ wants to be the King of our life, not by ruling and domina ng us but by being a shepherd, guiding  us, feeding us, protec ng us and healing us.  This is what Christ, our Good and Royal Shepherd does for  us and wants us to do the same for others.  Our Royal Shepherd asks us to treat others well, with love and mercy, par cularly the poor and the unwanted.  Because our final text and last judgment would not be on how important, rich or famous we have become but on how we have treated the thirsty, the hungry, the poor, prisoners and strangers.  Christ will say on the last day: “in so far you did good to one  of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me” (Mt 25: 31-46).  Let’s not wait for the last day, now is the  me for mercy and love, the  me to let Christ be our Royal Shepherd and see Christ in every  person we meet in our life.   Fr Jesus Bello College Chaplain, Duncan Street Campus

Congratula ons to Eliza Puzey who has concluded her Year 12 experience at Frayne by being acknowledged for her outstanding skills as an emerging ar st.  Eliza’s 3D  sculptural artwork has been selected for exhibi on in the 2020 Pulse Perspec ves at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.  Pulse Perspec ves (formerly known as Year 12 Perspec ves) is an annual exhibi on, judged by an expert panel, showcasing the work of gradua ng Year 12 students.   The  tle of this artwork is Evolve Resolve and Eliza states that it `connotes both my mental and physical journey within, but not limited to, my Year 12 experience.  A love for material arts combined with a fear of falling down, falling behind, failing, procras na ng and under- achieving resulted in an evolu onary but degrading and dissolving depic on.  Beginning and end, as depicted, underlines the realisa on that the journey, no ma er the circumstance, will and does end.  What will be will be and will never be again, but the memory prevails.’  Mrs Jeanie Walker, our passionate, skilful and dedicated Art teacher guided Eliza on her journey with this piece commen ng;  “Eliza’s approach to this artwork has combined her ability to design, construct, and create a work that represents her journey of resilience and persistence through her Year 12 experience. Constructed using techniques including plasma cu ng and welding, the 3D sculpture of mild steel is supported atop a wooden frame. Eliza produced this composi onally unified artwork exemplifying the synergies that exist between Art, Design and Technologies. Thank you, Eliza for inspiring future students to let their individuality and talent shine.”  A special men on needs to be extended to the guidance in construc on that was provided by Mr Joe Di Giuseppe from our Design and  Technology Department and Ms Anne O’Halloran for her ar s c insights and support.  The Pulse Perspec ves exhibi on will run next year between 7 March - 29 June at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.  The exhibi on is described as `a window into young people’s private, social and ar s c concerns.  It is in turns an inspiring, rewarding and insigh ul look at the world through the minds of our most talented young ar sts’.  Please ensure you put the event on your calendar.  Mrs Karen Cassidy Learning Area Co‐ordinator, The Arts
