WORKSHOP 2 Introduction to Interventional Pain Management for SpineWednesday,October26th,2016(08.00–17.00)

The use of ultrasound to evaluate musculoskeletal structures has grown exponentially, particularly in the clinic setting. The use of ultrasound has several advantages, including the relatively lower cost compared to other imaging methods and the absence of ionizing radiation. It is a repeatable, noninvasive imaging modality that is capable of providing real-time dynamic tissue assessment. In addition, ultrasound canbeusedtoquicklycomparetheaffectedandcontra lateral sides when necessary. Regarding pain management, ultrasound guided procedures have so many advantages, such as we can see the structure that is the target and also could locate the needle itself. This procedures will also improve patient safety.

LEARNINg OBJECTIVES :- Gain familiarity with the lumbosacral spine and hip

sonoanatomy- Master probe manipulation and image standards- Identify common sites of pathology and problem

raised from structures- Evaluate the muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves

WORKSHOP 5Sensory Profile Assessment in Children Wednesday,October26th,2016(08.00–17.00)

In sensory processing perspective, learning occurs when a person receives accurate sensory information, processes it, and uses it to organize behaviors. When children receive inaccurate or unreliable sensory input, their ability to process the information and create responses is disrupted. Poor sensory processing can take many forms and must be inferred from observation of children behavior and performance. Poor sensory processing can take the form of over responsivity or lack of responsivity. The Sensory Profile, provides a standard method for professionals to measure a child’s sensory processing abilities and the impact sensory processing abilities may have on functional performance. This innovative tool introduced a standardized way to characterize a child’s sensory processing patterns.

LEARNINg OBJECTIVES :- Using sensory profile assessment to measure a

child’s sensory processing abilities- Scoring and interpreting the Sensory Profile

Assessment- Making a report based on Sensory Profile

Assessment results- Intervention planning based on Sensory Profile

Assessment results

WHO SHOULD ATTEND : Physiatrist interested in sensory profile assessment in children, integrated into PMR practices

WORKSHOP 4High Intensity Laser Therapy in PracticeWednesday,October26th,2016(08.00–17.00)

In medicine, lasers are useful in surgical treatments for cutting and coagulation. The first report of laser applications in the musculoskeletal field was by Mester et al. on wound healing in the 1960s. Use of a low-power laser for patient interventions is known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT). From the end of the 90s, lasers with performance atWatt level (high intensity laser, Class 4 laser) begin to emerge in the basic research and later in clinical rehabilitation practice. High Intensity Laser Therapy (HILT) is an FDA-clearedtreatmentoptionthatisuniqueinitsabilityto penetrate through bone, soft tissue, and muscle to deliver healing light energy to the cells of the body. HILT can reduce pain, minimize swelling, soften scar tissue, and reset the chronic pain cycle - all while healing damaged tissues at the cellular level.

LEARNINg OBJECTIVES :- Identifythedifferenttypesoflasers- Explain the physical principles used to produce

laser light- Analyze the therapeutic applications of lasers in

wound and soft-tissue healing, edema reduction, inflammation, and pain

- Demonstratetheapplicationtechniquesoflasers- Describe the classifications of lasers- Incorporate the safety considerations in the use of

lasers- Be aware of the precautions and contraindications

for lasers

WHO SHOULD ATTEND : Physiatrist interested in learning how to use High Intensity Laser Therapy in practice
