According to a new landmark survey conducted by an independent research firm Edelman Berland and commissioned by Freelancers Union and Elance-oDesk, now more than 53 million Americans are doing freelance work. More and more people decline full-time job benefits and decide to enter the freelancer market. Freelancing is potentially risky, but you get the opportunity to be your own boss, to get freedom from work hours. Most importantly, your income depends only on your own effort, you don’t need to wait for years to get a promotion and bigger salary. Freelancers have become a real power in economic. This workforce is adding $715 billion annually to the economy through their freelance work. According to the survey, the two most common reasons for going freelance were “to earn extra money” (68%) and to “have flexibility in the schedule” (42%). The two biggest challenges identified by freelancers were a lack of stable income and a hard time finding a workplace.
