Space Jesus & Freddy Todd Club @ Water St. | Jan. 21 Brooklyn’s Space Jesus, “fueled by bass and inspired by the intan-gible,” features music producer Jasha Tull who presents hip-hop with a focus on bass-line synthesis and psychedelia...Freddy Todd, who describes his genre as “psy-cho-delicious soul splatter,” hails from Detroit...Rochester’s hip hop/house act, Skooba, supports; and there will be live art by The Welch Brothers and Bertolones.

Emily BarnesBug Jar | Jan. 21 Singer/songwr iter Emily Barnes plays an eclectic mix of contemporary folk. The debut release from this NJ-based artist is Beautiful Goodbyes.

Marshall Crenshaw & The Bottle RocketsClub @ Water St. | Jan. 22 Singer/songwriter Marshall Crenshaw is a well known gui-tarist who uses offbeat chord progressions in a style all his own. He’s been described as sounding something like Buddy Holly - he, in fact, played Holly in the film La Bamba. Crenshaw’s hit single in the early 80s is titled “Someday, Someway.” He’s put out a string of new releases in recent years including Stranger and Stranger, Drivin’ and Dreamin’, Red Wine and Move Now... The New York Times likened the songwriting of The Bottle Rockets to Woody Guthrie’s in spirit. Others have said they’re like Guthrie meets Neil Young meets The Replacements. Their lyrics tell of the common experiences of everyman – set to searing rock ‘n’ roll. Often called the “Godfathers of Alt-Country/Roots Rock,” the band has been performing for twenty years now.

Rover’s Holiday HangoverMain St. Armory | Jan. 23 The Extreme Graphix “Rover’s Holiday Hangover” tour features New Politics, alternative rock-ers from Copenhagen whose new album is titled Vikings (“Harlem”/”Everywhere I Go”); Kongos, the South African alterna-tive rock band made up the four Kongos brothers - Johnny, Jesse, Daniel, and Dylan. (“Come With Me Now”); Walk The Moon, an indie-rock act out of Cincin-nati, that tours in support of their Talking Is Hard album (“Shut Up and Dance”); Alien Ant Farm, rockers from Riverside CA, who

recently released Always and For-ever. (“Homepage”); and from Seattle WA, the blues/rock duo of My Goodness, featuring Joel Schnieder, Andy Lum and Cody Votalto. (Shiver & Shake).

Bone Orchard ButchersAbilene Bar & Lounge | Jan. 23 From Vermont comes the Gypsy Rag Jug Grass band, Bone Or-chard Butchers. The act performs music that’s based around “old tales of war, depression, love, death, incarceration, murder, strength, humility and vengeance” - in short, American folk music spun through gritty teeth and smoky harmonies.

CabinetMontage Music Hall | Jan. 23 The Pennsylvania bluegrass band, Cabinet, features JP Biondo, Mickey Coviello, Pappy Biondo, Dylan Skursky, Todd Kopec and Jami Novak. The group weaves Americana, county and folk into their energetic performances that feature serious musicianship and soaring harmonies. Their live albums are titled This Is Cabinet, Set 1, Eleven, LEAP and This is Cabinet – Set II.

Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxtonw/The Down Hill StrugglersSticky Lips BBQ Juke Joint | Jan. 23 Blues musician, Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxton, can seemingly do it all - he plays just about anything from piano to guitar to violin; and his vocals have earned him a repu-tation as “Best Blues Artist” in the 2014 Best of NYC competition. He channels the music of pre-WWII; yet he’s only in his mid-twenties. In addition to the old tunes, he also writes original material that brings out the playful side of old-school blues...The Down Hill Strugglers are an old-time folk act out of Brooklyn who play the sort of music that has defined rural Americana in the Appalachian tra-dition. Releases include The Dust Busters, Prohibition is a Failure and Old Man Below.

Eddie Clarkw/Liz RussoJoke Factory | Jan. 23 & 24 Eddie Clark refers to his style of stand up comedy as “adult, but not dirty.” His ability to read an audience combined with his quick wit, funny stories and masterful characters, has made him a hit with audiences all over the coun-try. Eddie’s humor is a blend of personal experiences and everyday

A powerhouse guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, next-generation bluesman, Selwyn Birchwood makes an appearance at Abilene Bar & Lounge, January 28.

Dikki Du and the Zydeco KreweHarmony House | Jan. 30 Dikki Du (Troy Carrier) is a stand-out zydeco artist. Early on, Troy played the washboard for his father, Roy Carrier, and then joined forces with C.J. Chenier for two years. He then played drums in his brother, Chubby Carrier’s band, with whom he toured from the late 80’s until the 90’s, when he returned home to pick up the accordion. Now, with Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe, he’s developed a funky, hard-driving sound with great ac-cordion rhythms and command-ing drum beats that consistently gets audiences out on the dance floor.

Harlem GlobetrottersBlue Cross Arena | Jan. 30 Since their inception in 1926, the Harlem Globetrotters have won championships and built bridges between people and communities around the world. In 2002, the organization was inducted into the Naismith Bas-ketball Hall of Fame; followed by an induction into the Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame and the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame. This year’s event finds them facing the infamous Washington Generals who are determined to match the franchise’s historic last victory over the Globetrotters nearly a half century ago.

Runaway DorothyAbilene Bar & Lounge | Jan. 30 The folk act, Runaway Doro-thy, is touring in support of The Wait. Based in Brooklyn, the four-piece band mixes folk, country and alt-county - and has become known for its storytelling ability and beautiful harmonies. Band members include Dave Parnell, Brett “Bert” Parnell, Warren “Jiffy” Robbins and Evan Mitchell.

GallagherJoke Factory Ballroom | Jan. 30 & 31 Comedian Gallagher h a s b e -c o m e a staple on the per -f or m ing scene in the US as a prop comic, rather noto-

rious for smashing watermelons - and computer keyboards, choco-late milk cartons, toothpaste, cakes, soda containers and just about anything else you can think of. Up-close fans of his “Sledge-O-Matic” (otherwise known as a sledge hammer) act – those in the first two or three rows – need plastic raincoats or sheets to pro-tective their clothing! Gallagher’s

latest Comedy special is Live in Chelsea.

Green has appeared on and hosted such shows as Go For The Green, Wanna Bet?, The Celebrity Apprentice, Hell’s Kitchen and For the Love of Ray J. His upcoming film will be titled Iron Sky: The Coming Race.

DriftwoodThe Club at Water St. | Jan. 31 Binghamton’s “Shanty Rock” quartet, Driftwood, is a con-tagious act – sincere about the music and sincere about their performance. The American Roots/rock artists incorporate a variety of instruments into their act including upright bass, banjo, acoustic guitar and violin - chan-neling the ghost of traditional American folk music; but with melodies, harmonies and lyrics that are all their own.

Bill HaderStrong Aud., U of R | Jan. 31 Bill Hader stops at the U of R for a “Q & A” evening. A Saturday Night Live favorite from 2005 to 2013 and known for his popular character, Stefon; he has also ap-peared in such films as Doogal, Superbad, Pineapple Express, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Tropic Thunder, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Adven-tureland, Paul, Men in Black 3, and The Skeleton Twins.
