  • World Language at Gates! You may study French, Latin or Spanish In 7 th grade students take level 1A of a language. In 8 th grade students take level 1B of the same language. There is no changing languages from 7 th to 8 th grade. In 9 th grade most students will enter level 2 or level 2 Honors.

  • World Language at Gates! World Language at Gates is not a teamed subject, nor is it an elective course. It is considered a core academic class. Students are taught vocabulary, syntax, grammar rules, culture, geography, art etc. There is nightly homework. Assessments are given.

  • World Cultures The World Cultures classes were designed to meet the diverse needs of our 7 th and 8 th grade World Language students. The curriculum is designed to help more students meet success in the World Language classroom. The curriculum is a decelerated level one Spanish curriculum that emphasizes culture and hands-on learning activities while also providing students with a strong base for their language learning. The course is intended to be a feeder course for students who will enter level one Spanish at the High School. *Students may also opt to take French 1 or Latin 1 at the High School.
