A-Level Examination Season The A-Level examination season is very busy over the next few weeks, as you will have seen from the summary of exams(above). This is a challenging time for students and we continue to provide support to ensure students are feeling fullyprepared for the challenges of the exams. I have reminded students of the need to use their time effectively to completefinal revision, and to ensure that part-time employment remains at a minimum over the next few weeks. I have receivedvery positive feedback from academic teachers about the attitude that students are displaying, and I would encouragestudents to continue to access the additional workshops offered by their teachers, and to be proactive in seeking outadditional support should this be required.

Y12 Planning for the Future Following the academic reviews with Y12 students at the end of the last half term, we will now be focusing closely onfinalising preparations for applications to universities, employers and apprenticeship providers. Over the coming twoweeks, I will be asking students to meet with their academic mentor to submit their final personal statement, as well astheir final shortlist of courses, apprenticeships or employers. This will allow us to then begin the process of provideddetailed references to support these applications. In real-terms there are now only approximately 12 weeks in Sixth Formuntil the final applications need to be submitted through UCAS, and it is important for this to be prioritised over theremaining time this academic year.

Head Boy & Head Girl Applications We received a number of applications from Y12 students to the posts of Head Boy and Head Girl. The interviews for thesepost took place earlier this week, and all short-listed applicants displayed an impressive performance. I have arranged tomeet with applicants on Monday 12 June 2017 to discuss the outcomes of the selection process.

Reminder: End of Year Arrangements Year 13 students will not be required to attend Sixth Form following their final exam is and/or their final diploma portfoliois completed. This date will differ for each student. Dates of exams are available for students and parents/carers on themoodle portal. Year 12 students will be able to begin their summer break at 13.15 on 21 July 2017.

25th April 2017 Dear Student/Parent, The Celebration Ball has been arranged for THURSDAY 6TH JULY, 2017 at Solita’s Winckley Square from 7.30 p.m. to midnight. The cost of the whole event is £25.00. This includes the venue hire, a drink on arrival, a 3 course meal, entertainment, decorations etc. The Celebration Ball is a celebration of, in most instances 7 years at Carr Hill. It is also a formal event, therefore, there is an expectation with regard to dress. Ladies will be expected to wear dresses/ball gowns whilst the gentlemen should wear suits (lounge or dinner suits). On arrival there will be a drink before the meal, commencing at 7.30 p.m. To ensure that there is sufficient interest in the Ball, it would be greatly appreciated if a £10.00 deposit (non-refundable) could be paid before Friday 28th April, 2017. This date is crucial as if there are not sufficient numbers, alternative provision will have to be sought. Please complete the consent form below and the attached medical form and return to me before Friday 28th April 2017. We prefer on-line payments which can be made via the School’s website.
