From the Principal and Campus Co-ordinator It seems that one of the wettest summers on record has not dampened the spirits at Oran Park Anglican College. Students continue to thrive in the car- ing, nurturing environments that our classrooms provide. It has been pleas- ing to see the vast range of work produced, some of which can be found in the latter pages of The Life, and to hear the stories of learning and fun tak- ing place. At recent weekly assemblys, that are held at 12.10pm on Fridays and which parents are more than welcome to attend, the students have enjoyed the visits from Rev. Stuart Starr who has spoken to us about being ever readyand the fact that Jesus is our very own Life Saver(Yes, I was listening). Both visits have been enjoyable and gave the students some food for thought in the spiritual sense. Rev. Jono Squire and friends visited us to- day and spoke to us about Jesus having power and authority exampled in the fact that he calmed the storm. We value and look forward to these visits. During the Assemblys I have also spoken about taking Pride in our Col- lege. As you would agree the grounds of our College look fantastic and it is important that students become proud of their College by keeping it clean, unfortunately the last couple of days the rubbish has become unsatisfactory around the grounds and students need to remember to use the appropriate bins that are in the playground. Students were also reminded about uniform and the importance of wearing their uniform appropriately in public. Students are a walking advertisementfor the College and it is important that they give a positive impression of our College. You may notice that there has been a lot of interest in the College and our numbers have grown during the first couple of weeks of term and we welcome those students and families to the O.P.A.C. family. We have nominated Wednesday 4 th April as our Official Opening Day and will confirm this date as soon as Officials have replied. It will be a great event and will be one of the first times that our students get to strut their stuff!I am really looking forward to it. in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 3-4-5 G - Marshmallow Movers In Science we are learning about simple machines. The whole class got into groups and made a marshmallow mover. For my machine I used such things as paddle pop sticks, straws, string and a marshmallow. I had lots of fun. When we were done we made it fly all the way across the room into a tray Mrs Grant was holding. Georgia Y4

I made a marshmallow mover. The marshmallow went in Mrs Grant’s tray and it was fun. At the end Mrs Grant gave us a marshmallow to eat, it was delicious. Daniel Y3

In Science we are learning about simple machines, how they work and what their purposes are. Our object was to fling one marshmallow across the room into a tray that Mrs Grant was holding. We made different types of simple machines using rubber bands, cardboard, masking tape and paper clips. Only a few made it into the tray and those that did, only just made it in. Mine was made of two pieces of string, several rubber bands and a few paper clips. My one didn’t work because the marshmallow stuck to it, it didn’t go in the tray either. Matthew Y5

In Science we are learning about machines. Last week we had to make a marshmallow mover. When our group of 3 had our turn with the marshmallow mover the marshmallow flung to our feet. Taylor Y5

3-4-5 G - Marshmallow Movers During Science last week at our favourite school, Oran Park Anglican College, we were learning about simple machines. Our task was to create a machine that we called our marshmallow mover which had to fling a marshmallow into a tray that our teacher was holding. First we had to divide into groups of 2 or 3 and then we started constructiong our machines. It was great when It was time to represent our machines. Sadly ours didn’t go far but we learnt and had lots of fun doing this project. Claudia Y5

My class have been learning about simple machines so we decided to make our own. I partnered with Leah. Our machine broke so I just threw the marshmallow in to the tray that Mrs G was holding. At the end we all ate a marshmallow and said yum. Ellie Y3

I made a machine that would fling a marshmallow across the room. It was a science experiment for the whole class. Our marshmallow didn’t quite make it in to Mrs G’s tray but it was close. Our marshmallow mover had rainbow decorations. Leah Y3

Last week in Science we made a marshmallow mover that would fling a marshmallow into a tray that Mrs G was holding. Emily and Daniel got theirs in but mine was so close. My one was just a spoon and the marshmallow had two straws and a paddle pop stick. At the end we got to each some marshmallows. Jordan Y5
