From the Principal Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome to Week 8. It was just lovely to see so many Dads in the school this morning for our Father’s Day Breakfast. We had over 200 orders which was just fabulous. Students had a lovely time playing handball with their dads and spending time with them while they enjoyed their bacon and egg rolls. A huge thank you to Sue Van Hoof and The Sandeman Family who were at school this morning at 6am to get ready and also spent time on Sunday in preparation for the breakfast. Thanks also to many staff who came in early to help. Thank you for supporting this event, I look forward to many more like it. Keep an eye out for photos on our Facebook Page. A huge thank you to Bakers Delight Raymond Terrace for supplying us with buns baked freshly this morning and giving us a lovely discount. This week we celebrate SAS Recognition Week. Our School’s Administrative and Support staff are: School Administrative Manager - Kay Dunford School Administrative Officers - Jodi Callaghan, Danielle Wood, Flick Schmitt, Kellie Sandeman School Learning Support Officers - Susan Van Hoof, Kellie Sandeman, Adrian Wallace, Liz Ross, Robyn Peters, Sally Keating, Belinda Watts & Jenny Tolhurst-White General Assistant - Frank Henderson These wonderful people do a fabulous job carrying out the huge administrative jobs that keep the school running smoothly, supporting our students in their learning and keeping the grounds and buildings looking tidy and well maintained. No school could function without these people doing their jobs so well and here at Grahamstown we are certainly very lucky to have SAS staff of such a high standard. Please take the time to thank the SAS staff when you have the opportunity they often go unrecognised for the fabulous job they do, and this week gives us a chance to thank them and show how much we appreciate them. We will be celebrating with a special morning tea in their honour on Wednesday. During Term 4, Sport in Schools will be running a Gymnastics program free of charge for all students in Years 2 4. This is made possible through specific utilisation of the Australian Sports Commission Sporting Schools Grant Program, and an affiliation with Gymnastics NSW. This is a trial program with the hope that we may utilise them for a full program next year. This will cost students a small fee. Gymnastics is part of the PD/H/PE syllabus, however teachers need to specially trained in Gymnastics coaching in order to teach it. We don’t currently have staff trained, so we are unfortunately unable to offer gymnastics unless we bring in an outside agency to do so. We would appreciate your feedback on the program when it runs next term so we can make a decision about whether or not to offer it for your children next year. All classes are practicing for our concert which is being held in Week 10. It is shaping up to be a fantastic event and I can’t wait to see it myself. If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, don’t forget to do so soon. They are available from the school office. Have a great week! Michele Winn Principal

We're turning our event from bland to GRAND this year by adding a splash of colour. The more money we raise the more we can provide for the students through vital school projects, in particular resurfacing our basketball court.

We request for all sponsorship forms and money to be returned to the P&C box in the school office by 9am 22nd September 2017.

Students obtain donations from family and friends; earn exciting reward prizes according to the amount of money raised which ends in a blast of colour... the School Colour Fun Run!

The event will be held on Friday 22nd September 2017 (Week 10) starting at 1:30pm with a family picnic for recess. We do ask that you bring a spare change of clothes to school, most importantly a plain white shirt. The colour powder is made of high quality corn starch with permitted food colours. It is non-toxic, biodegradable, skin safe and environmentally friendly. You may bring your white shirt to your class teacher, to be stored in the classroom until the afternoon of the Colour Run. If you would like to purchase a shirt, GPS P&C have LIMITED quantity of sizes of our retired uniform white shirts, for $3 each, which will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Please return the order form below with correct money in a snap lock bag or envelope, to the P&C box in the school office. Non-availability of shirts will be advertised via Facebook and Skoolbag.

Major Promotion - $5,000 Cruiseabout Gift Voucher

How to Order Prizes?

As a reward for your efforts, each child will receive an incentive prize based on the total amount of sponsorship raised. Please complete Step 5. on the back page of the Sponsorship Form and return to the school in a clearly marked envelope with your child’s name and class.
