REPORTS - At our May meeting there were 45 present, 14 apologies and 3 visitors.

Almoner Margaret K. reported that Elizabeth Gibilisco is still not well

Our speakers for May were Alf and Les, both retired from the Police Air Wing. The Air Wing

was started in 1975 with a fixed wing aircraft, then a helicopter in

1979. Until January 2017 the Police and the Air Ambulance Service

shared the same facilities at Essendon Aerodrome. Police Air Wing

now have three aircrafts which are leased from the Canadian Corpo-

ration who do all the maintenance so all the Victorian Police have to

do is fly the aircraft. They have a team of 59 personal, headed by an

Inspector and Senior Sergeant. The training for a Tech. Flight Officer is a seven year course.

Each have a three person crew consisting of a pilot, DFO and a back controller. They then gave

an excellent PowerPoint presentation of all the duties that are performed during a working day.

Some of the duties are:- support for Traffic Police, search and rescue, and any of the other agen-

cies as needed. Elma thanked Alf and Les for an insight into the working of the Police Air

Wing.

Wednesday 15th May - Tour of Victorian Telecommunications Museum and Lunch

On a lovely Autumn day the 26 passengers had morning tea near the Royal Bo-

tanic Gardens. We then headed off to Telstra Museum at Hawthorn where we

had an informative tour of their museum. After a short talk and PowerPoint

presentation we went up to the museum. Many had memories of some of the

equipment that they had on display. On leaving we were all given a mug and

pen to remember the day, then lunch at The Tower Hotel.

Thanks Barbara Y for another interesting day out.

Monday 27th May - Stroll at Canning Reserve - Avondale Heights

On a very cold, wet and windy morning twenty-four strollers

braved the weather and had an invigorating stroll along the

Maribyrnong River passing some very large homes.

The rain stopped and the wind dropped while we had lunch

in the sunshine. Melbourne weather!!
